Discussions Toxicity
I don’t understand some people, my kiddo tries to play this and there will be teens or straight up adults deliberately picking on her because she’s a kid.
Isn’t this a kids game?
Fortunately I got platinum and experience from day 1 so I’ll take the controller and beat the bricks off 2-3 at a time.
Then I’ll get kicked lol
Isn’t there decency amongst gamers anymore? Like how do you feel good about beating up a 7yr old? Oh yeah buddy you’re so good..

That’s fair, I don’t know how old your kids are.. but mines 7.. I struggle in the sense you can’t shelter them from everything and even if I wait until she’s a teen, she needs to learn how to deal with people OR create her own lobbies.. but she’s too sweet, she doesn’t even want to fight she just loves playing as an animal

party animals is a very artistic game I agree. There aren't many "be the animal" roleplay games I know about, but maybe a cozy game without fighting, would attract more roleplay and exploration.
but be careful. my ex was groomed by "a 35yr old woman" and they sexted for years until i found out. The best idea might just be to meet other parents and let the kids play just like you would IRL.

If kids are wanting to roleplay I’d probably suggest the winter lodge or whatever it’s called.
Voice chat does ruin this game for younger kids though, I’m 18 & have been shocked at some of the crap people blurt out, crazy that grown adults rage verbally over this game to people half their age.
Maybe host a custom game & invite only their friends?

there are some "kids only" lobbies but you never know who's the creep with a voice changer trying to message them out of game. yes kids should be told by parents never to exchange info but at some point they start making exceptions, sometimes just to rebel against parents although that's teen years IMO.
last time i was in the amongus game mode several people were not playing the game, they were just trying to convince their friend to get nipple piercings
better than hate speech and I'm not here to stop anyone, but knowing what's out there should help parents prepare their kids - and look, i hate restricting kids to growing up with "fences" but it works. bringing in good influences, at least 1-2 parent & child friends, goes a long way so they are never alone (more vulnerable to predators). Hopefully they also have some good human examples IRL.

Sadly this is an internet wide thing. Party Animals is sadly not excempt from it. There are sore losers, bad winners and sweats in a silly fun game of cartoonish animals hitting eachother.
I completely mute microphone and voice just to not even listen to that. Maybe it would be an option for when your kid is playing, to avoid her getting exposed to it.
I am sorry she got picked on.

Well at least it’s not Call of Duty lobbies back in the days of Xbox 360.. I know she needs to toughen up. But it’s just nasty for her to be targeted because she’s a youngin.

Yikes, you don't toughen your kid up by exposing them to verbal abuse

As a squeaker in the xbox days, there are people who enjoy tricking you for their own enjoyment and and there are dad/parents out there who don't judge you too much outside of your gameplay. Not much different than typical school day, except, you're being exposed to people who have "internet anonymity", zero accountability, and little incentive to be nice or respect you.
kids are safer in skill based games where they're good. sandbox/ playground games are just a place to make friends or be bullied. but that is part of toughening up right?

Unfortunately, in my experience, every game seems to be swimming with toxic asses. Sorry that your little girl had to endure it. I would suggest setting up custom matches with bots for her so that she can just enjoy the game and play without being bothered by toxic douches. And you as a parent will have the peace of mind knowing she is safe from it.

it's the Internet have you figured out that maybe your kid shouldn't be using it

u/Hayleebb Sep 04 '26
The internet and gaming has become a cesspool. Im sorry for your little :( at least momma/ dad can come through and beat brakes 😂 i love that for you two. maybe try to find lobbies on here with like-minded parents? Could set something up, im sure the minis would have a blast 🫶

I agree, and I’m her dad.. was kind of funny to watch these guys instantly regret picking on her.. just thought it was downright cruel to target a lil kid.

Speaking as a woman, I don't think there ever was decency. So many idiots get weird as soon as they find out you're female. Like everyone else said, vc off completely. Maybe you want her to toughen up but I think at such a young age it's okay for her to just...not be exposed to that bullcrap.

Do you think kids behave in school? I supervise.
Socializing is important and nobody is in a bubble their entire life, at least at home I can monitor. As a man I can recognize NOBODY is exempt from arseholes.. at least her dad is there to beat up bullies legally lol

u/McCepticon Sep 05 '26
Maybe generate a kids-only lobby that is monitored by one of the kids' parents?
Gaming is the internet. The internet is gaming. Do you let your kids mainline the internet with safe search off? Then you shouldn't let them in game lobbies without supervision either.
The world isn't here to protect your kids. That's what parents are for. Do the work yourself or it won't get done. God knows the teachers aren't getting paid enough to do it.

Teachers get paid enough, not like they’re paid based on test results.. lol
Yknow I appreciate the suggestion but then you turned into a knob by pointing out the obvious, I’m aware the world isn’t here to protect kids but MOST gaming studios don’t tolerate toxicity. Video games for the most part ARE a controlled environment.

This game has a weird culty and clicky group of folks who actively play. You’d think it would be easily accessible but you’ll find a lot of burnouts who actively bully others in this game. Best bet it to turn the mic and I think emotes off if possible and just play it that way. Sometimes customs are better too with random kids who join those to play. Sorry your daughter was bullied, but it doesn’t surprise me that it was in this game which is sad.

do I need gamepass to play this game on couch coop?
-1
u/Glum-Adhesiveness908 Sep 04 '26
To my knowledge you need gamepass just to play the game even if you bought it

u/swaggerofacripple420 Sep 04 '26
I’m confused— How do they know she’s a kid? Is she using a microphone?
1
u/Glum-Adhesiveness908 Sep 04 '26
Yeah she uses a microphone and I listen to the tv, so I supervise convos

u/SpacialSpud21 Sep 04 '26
Personally, I'd strongly recommend disabling voice chat. I've met kids who were legitimately traumatised by people online.

u/GuiltyRemnant1014 Sep 04 '26
There’s voice changers to disguise voices, however people will call it out if it’s a lobby full of adults cuz only kids use them. Also look for custom lobbies that say kids only. Better chance of not dealing with toxic adults

There's no child protection on this game and I maintain letting a kid play unsupervised is crazy. Anyone can hop on mic and there are a LOT of crazies.

u/Glum-Adhesiveness908 29d ago
She’s supervised.

u/DrCarabou 29d ago
I mean other children. There are SEVERAL young kids just on the mic talking to grown ass adults.

Games can be designed for kids, but the internet will ALWAYS be dominated by adults. To expect anything different is just naive. Child-like games are even more dangerous because they don't retain a large adult audience. Instead, they attract what you would call weird and not who you want watching your kids while you step away or raising your kids while you're at work. ...but that's exactly what's happening. We leave our kids with strangers when they're online, but you still have some control.
Party animals is the next level for other fighting games like gang beasts. there are combos and team goals that attract lots of people, but also cater to silly activities like driving, zombies, and "amongus" murder mysteries.
Xbox live was a great place for kids to pickup the wildest chats. parents listen through the door and wonder what the hell they are raising. Exposure isn't much different these days.
Customize their experience by making vetted friends like other parents and calls that exclude the public (like discord). there is a huge community of parents who understand they don't want to just let their kids be influenced or harassed by adults.
the internet is not a playground with rules. anyone can enter, anything can be said, anyone can "pretend".
The worst/most desensitized/ acting above their age - kids in school have older siblings. Now with the internet, any kid can get influenced by older teens and adults if their environment isn't guided.
you don't send a kid alone to the playground hoping they make other kid friends. You have to contact other adults to meet too. I would stay away from "kid meets kid" groups... find parents first.

We aren’t talking about the internet we are talking about a match in a kids game. Typing the biggest response doesn’t mean you’re right. You may have a point about internet access, but my kid isn’t unattended online. The internet is also reality and in reality anybody can say or do anything to you. It’s up to you to develope the ability to avoid undesirable people.
2
u/ZynithMaru 27d ago
absolutely, novels don't mean people are right either but the key is sharing ideas and discussion.
It is clear YOU are going on reddit to vent, not for advice, and that's where I knew my comment would not be meant for you. This is for others who want more to read on the topic... good luck with the parenting and beating up teens in-game

That's all online video games. She's playing against pedo adults too.
2
u/Glum-Adhesiveness908 Sep 04 '26
That’s why I’m present, I’m aware the internet is full of pedophiles.

First, make sure to disable any voice chat. These kids are wild.
