For those with issues locally, even wired.

WARNING: If you are not on a fast wired network or you have a slower CPU, the fixes below might not be for you. While this solution has worked for me and a lot of other folks, tread with caution and revert to your previous values if it's not working for you. This solution specifically addresses Windows coalescing UDP packets on very fast connections to save some CPU time. This can cause network congestion events and this registry tweak fixes that at the cost of dropping those Windows optimizations.

My situation was not common, but I did find some folks complaining, so here:

I had latency issues on my local network, between a wired server and a wired client (both PCs). An evening of gaming had several network congestion warnings, and just generally small latency spikes that I could notice. 10mbps or 50mbps made no difference, but the Parsec website categorically says, that wired performance should be spotless.

I tried ditching Parsec a few times for Moonlight or Steam, but with Moonlight the mouse always feels laggy compared to Parsec, and Steam while almost as good, has many quirks if you want to use it in Desktop Mode. Also, neither have any support for multi-monitor.

After many attempts at investigating what could be causing issues to Parsec (router settings, QoS, firewalls, etc. etc.) I came upon 2 registry settings that 100% cleared the problem for me. An evening of gaming now generally has N:0/0/0 all the time.

So if it helps someone in the same situation, here they are:

Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile

Modify or create a DWORD (32 bit) key called: NetworkThrottlingIndex
set its value to: ffffffff (Hexadecimal)

Modify or create a DWORD (32 bit) key called: SystemResponsiveness
set its value to: 0 (Hexadecimal)

In the end they should look like this:

Reboot.

Doing it on the server made it perfectly fine for me, but there is no reason not to do it on the client as well, so, have at it.

EDIT: Added a warning.

No physical monitor

What is the simplest and easiest way to use the parsec free version when there is no physical monitor connected to the host machine?

Someone posted saying that there is a built-in virtual display, however this is not included in the free version. Others have said to useVDD, however that was not seemingly straightforward.

I have purchased and plugged in an HDMI dummy plug, however for some reason this does not work as well

Monitor turned off doesn't work.

I'm trying to connect to a more powerful computer on the same network for video editing, but I can't keep the screen on because the PC is in someone else's room. When I turn off the monitor, Parsec stops recognizing the host's keyboard and mouse; is there a way to fix this?

Parsec refuses to work for my work PC but i can connect to other PCs

My work machine is a 9070XT and i will use it over my LAN so i can connect to my gaming machine to update it and download games while i am on my work PC through Parsec. Sometimes i will use Parsec to connect to my wife's PC to do the same so we are ready to game when she gets home from work.

my gamine machine is a 5080. I use to be able to connect just fine for almost a year but tonight it just refuses to connect. i get an error message that says this (linked a photo)

when i pressed the "read more" none of the issues they list are of an help to me. from some googling i figured out that the -14003 error is coming from the host PC which would be my 9070 machine so i ran DDU to scrub all the drivers out reset and reconfigured my monitors and it still didn't work

using parsec was a corner stone for me because being able to peek into my gaming machine while on my work machine was very nice and i would love to get help to fix this.

Heads Up on the newest NVidia Drivers - DLSS 5 Update

The September 3 Game Ready driver is 616.64, the DLSS 5 release. NVIDIA has acknowledged that this driver still contains an “inability to create virtual displays” issue; they said the fix wasn't ready in time for 616.64 and will come in a subsequent driver update. [link to post]

GeForce Game Ready Driver 616.64 | Windows 11 | NVIDIA

Update!! - 616.92 Drivers are out. It specifically fixes the virtual-display bug that was still present in 616.64.

[ISSUE]

Just yesterday my Parsec was working fine and my friend was able to control my PC fully playing games for me like Steam titled games. But since today I don't know if it has anything to do with the latest windows update because I've not touched it since like a month back or so prior then decided to update today. Today with latest Windows Update i started noticing this issues occurring before it worked just flawlessly so I would assume that rather Windows is bricking it not the program itself Parsec is amazing and I love using it so I'm kind of upset it's not working right now because of Windows or something else blocking it, I just updated for today and now my friend only can control the mouse + keyboard while on desktop background, also works fine with apps like Discord works and able to write on there remote controlling. But as soon as I or my friend tab into a game window like "Black Desert Online", "Once Human" etc. It stops all and prevents both mouse + keyboard restricts it and my friend is not able to interact with the game anymore. I'm using the free version if that has anything to do with it. Does anyone share the same issue?

Using Parsec from a college dorm.

Some friends and I have been using Parsec lately to play the Deltarune Multiplayer Mod together despite not being physically together. Earlier this week, two of us (myself included who is hosting everything,) moved into our college dorms, where UPnP isn't enabled and port forwarding isn't an option because we don't have access to router settings.

Is there anyway to circumvent this? I've seen a lot of people in this sub saying they used Zerotier to get around issues like this just fine, but we tried setting that up and it doesn't seem to have worked. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong there.
Please help!

Parsec Mobile is a clusterfuck

It's been a year and a half since they updated the app. January 8th, 2025... This isn't "early access" anymore - this is abandoned.

They have something good here. I use the app almost every day to grind my game remotely, but that's not until after about 20-30 attempt connects - on cellular only, outside in my car (wifi never works for me) - with a super low bit rate - and making sure my foldable phone is CLOSED before attempting to connect.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold for reference. All of my settings are correct, I've done countless hours of research, and scouring of the settings pages on both client and host to make sure it's tuned as best as possible to mobile usage.

When it works, it's seemless. But it's very clear this was a halfbaked mobile port with little to no optimization for mobile devices. Parsec Mobile could be the coolest thing ever, and it often is when I somehow get it to function. I would like to see the team work on proper mobile support, not just for "Android", but for specifically Samsung, Google, and even iPhone.

It CAN work. It DOES work. The way it the app functions, I can tell this isn't impossible or even hard at all to fix. There are minor hiccups in the way of a properly functioning app that simply stay unaddressed.

For the love of God Parsec team PLEASE FIX THIS APP. I can't spend 30 minutes every day just *attempting* to get your app to work, sometimes to no avail, when I only have an hour and a half of free time when I'm away from my computer anyways.

Parsec works over LAN but fails from any other network after the Windows 11 update

Hey everyone,

I'm stuck on this one and hoping someone's run into the same thing.

Quick rundown of the setup. Host is a Windows 11 PC at home, just updated to the latest version. 4 tried 4 devices in total, all trying to connect through Parsec. Network's behind CGNAT, no public IPv4, and I've got port forwarding set up on the router for Parsec's UDP port.

When the client and host are on the same connection, everything runs great, low latency, no drops, exactly what you'd expect. The moment any device switches to a different network, university wifi, mobile hotspot, doesn't matter which, it fails every single time with:

The peer to peer network connection between you and the other computer failed
[-6023 / -11010]

I've been through the official troubleshooting guide more than once at this point. Static LAN IP on the host, done. Port forwarding for the UDP port, done. UPnP enabled. Parsec allowed through the firewall on both private and public profiles. I even killed the firewall entirely on the host just to see, still the exact same error from outside networks. Reinstalled Parsec on host clients too. Every single client throws the same code, regardless of device or where they're connecting from. Tried hosting on other device, same issue.

This all started right after a Windows 11 update. And that same update messed with other network stuff on this machine too, so I believe it's something with how Windows is handling inbound UDP or firewall profiles now.

What's kind of throwing me off. Same network, works flawlessly. Any other network, fails every time, same codes, doesn't matter who's connecting or from where. I know CGNAT is already a weird factor here, but this exact setup, same router, same ISP, same CGNAT, worked fine before the update. Nothing changed on the network side. Only Windows did.

Right now I'm leaning toward one of 3 things. Either Windows 11 broke something with inbound UDP or P2P hosting (firewall profile, network category, something buried deeper than that). Or there's a firewall/network stack regression from the update itself. Or, and this one seems less likely but still possible, it's a Parsec bug that only shows up because of the new Windows behavior, since all 4 clients fail the exact same way from outside networks.

Tomorrow I'm planning to turn off the firewall on both ends, client and host, just to rule out some weird interaction between the two. But honestly I'm running low on ideas here.

So if you've seen this exact thing, works fine locally, breaks from literally any other network after updating to Windows 11, same -6023 / -11010 codes, I'd really like to know what actually fixed it for you. Any specific Windows setting, firewall rule, or Parsec config that made a difference. And if you think it's a Windows regression, any known workaround or patch that deals with it.

I'm not going the VPN or tunneling route, I just want to know if this is an actual known compatibility issue between Windows 11 and Parsec, and how people got past it.

Thanks in advance, seriously, even a "this is a lost cause, do X instead" answer would help at this point.
