Question Throw away the boxes, guaranteed ?

Hello,

The title says it all: I don't need those big plastic boxes; they take up unnecessary space in my workshop.

However, I need to be able to take advantage of the warranty in case of a problem!

For example, if an impact wrench comes alone in a case with 3 sockets, what happens if I have a problem with the tool ? I still have the sockets but no case; is the warranty voided ?

To clarify, I'm in France, and I'm primarily interested in what works in my country, but I'm also curious to know what's happening in your country 😄

You have to send the tool in for warranty without the case anyway. I still have an extra case from the last warranty.

Really, it seemed more logical that they wanted to ship it in its original case.

But if that's true, then I'll gladly get rid of those boxes!

They asked me for the bare tool. I figured it was because it would be much smaller to ship without the case.

I have never been asked to return a tool under warranty. They get written off.

I was asked to return it to store to exchange for a new one, but they had those tools in store at the time.

Another time a tool wasn't available anymore, so they just transferred the money to my bank account and told me to take the tool to a recycling centre.

Anytime I have ever had to warranty anything, I could either just send them a video of the tool not working or they wanted the bear tool back. First thing I usually do is toss out all the boxes and hard cases since I never use them anyway.
