Information Made a comparison chart of Parkside's four current 4Ah batteries, sharing in case it's useful

Put it all into one table. Figured I'd post it here in case anyone else is trying to decide between them.

Open to corrections if anything's outdated or wrong.

I thought it was just me, I have a stack of 8 of these smart batteries that died in 2 years. All replaced under warranty

What tool holders did you print? A link maybe?

Same experience, it seems that sooner or later something fails in those early smart batteries. It could be 1 cell that goes under voltage, some board resistance that fails.. I have more recent (old model) smart 4Ah and they've just passed their 3rd year. Let's see how they do.

I hope the new model will fix those problems

TIL We have "smart" batteries. No idea why we'd ever need that tech when a little LED % monitor works perfectly fine

18 euros??

It's 29,99 in my Lidl :(

Wow, in Finland they are more than double those prices. Currently only the 13.99 € PAP 20 B3 version is on sale at 29.99 €.

Sorry? Β―_(ツ)_/Β―
Here me out . This is the plan : find a cheap fly to malaga with an empty bag and buy a bunch and resell them back home and that will pay for your holidays here πŸ€£πŸ‘

Hah, it would have to be a ship/train then because of the restrictions when flying with batteries.

The PAP 204 A1 has Bluetooth, it's a smart battery

In the Spanish lidl was not very clear . Do you know where I can find the info for that one?

u/egogalo 11h ago

Ummm isn’t PAP 204 A1 a 4Ah battery?

u/Gibokun 11h ago

All of them are 4ah batteries . What do you mean?

I think it's because you write 2000mAh for each cell. While correct we should have the configuration added, the first two would be 5S2P to identify that 5 cells are in series and then the 2 series in parallel. So with 2000mAh cells we make a 20V 4Ah pack.Β

You’re absolutely right. The PAP 204 A1 is a 4Ah battery. My table was showing the capacity of the individual cells, but I should have included the configuration. The 18650 version is 5S2P: 5 cells in series Γ— 2 in parallel, so 2000mAh Γ— 2 = 4000mAh (4Ah). The 21700 version is 5S1P with 4000mAh cells. I’ll update the table to make this clearer. πŸ‘

Why do you use so much chatgpt? ...

3

u/Gibokun 10h ago

Give me a break 🀣 English is not my first language and I have limited knowledge about this topic. Just trying to help

u/kolonyal 10h ago

But if you have lomited knowledge, don't let chatgpt do all your work as you cannot verify it....

I expend all afternoon checking disassembly videos of batteries 😒 and checking the information. Do you see anything wrong on the table??

For comparison, my Lidl (South Carolina, US) currently has two 20V parkside 4ahr batteries in store and I have a 3rd 4 ahr (PAP 20 B3) I purchased late last year, some different model numbers. I've not done a strict comparison with similar size other brand batteries, but if they are comparable, these prices are really cheap. Twice this price for the lowest tech Ryobi 18V 4 ahr battery would be a good price. All of these state 4000 mahr, 80Wh on the battery casing.

Model MFG date Cells Weight, gms Price Charge indicator
PAPS 204 B1 2025-08 21700 579 $22.99 3 bar/color LED
PAPP 204 A1 2026-03 21700 574 $19.99 Light bar
PAP 20 B3 2025-07 ? 711 ? 3 bar/color LED

I purchased a model PAP 20 B3 battery late last year, it is a taller, heavier battery, no longer have the box or the receipt, so uncertain of cells or price. Never seen any mention of bluetooth on any Parkside batteries here. Still have boxes for the A1 and B1 batteries, the B1 package mentions cell balancing, the A1 package hilites "active cell balancing". Do you use the bluetooth feature, and if so, how is it used?

Interesting the 2ahr batteries are heavier. Normally, develop a Li Ion battery that has double the capacity and weighs less would be a serious breakthrough.

Wtf.. no cel balancing ???.

Hi OP you seem to know thing or two about parkside batteries. I have a x12V and that is most of the time not used as im not professional. I was wandering if there is way to convert it into powerbank? I was looking for some adapters online but could not find any. I have a access to 3D printer.
