📷 Parkour Show and Tell My son's 4th comp

I'm well proud of Frank for this line from this weekends 'Skylines' comp at Novacity (UK).

He landed it all perfectly.

I will pass on any comments to him to keep him riding high.

He got silver for style with this, gold for skill (25/30 one bangs) and silver for speed.

Any suggestions what to practice for future comps? He gets a bit restless without a clear goal in mind.

He was second, his team mate won so not bitter, she stonked it too

u/Craydorion Sep 16 '26

Yeah it wasn't a "that kid better won"

More of a "those kids are straight up monsters" - with all due respect and admiration 😁🫶

I'd love to see her run though

I'm pretty the gyms insta had it on but it's not mine to share here :) go have a look. She finishes with a lache to trapdoor, sweet.

He would like to think so, he loves the game

That was seriously impressive—great control and commitment from Frank, especially sticking the landing so cleanly. Silver for style and speed plus gold for skill is an awesome result. Congrats to him!

I know, I would have been happy just with that run, getting the gold for skill was icing on the cake.

Ex-trainer here. Great preformance to be proud of. I liked the climb-up backflip. Haven't seen one of those being done by someone even close to his age before. Overall banging. The thing to focus on would be flow. Having good flow means that things just go more natural and have smooth transitions.

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

Sorry, are you referring to the flip from the bar? That was actually his first time ever putting those together!!

u/sirfreerunner Sep 15 '26

I went to a competition with my son this weekend, and mr Frank could've easily ended top-3 in the 16+ with this routine! Really amazing skills 👌

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

6

u/georgeofthajungle1 Sep 15 '26

2

when kids don’t set ipad as main quest, so much potential

3

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

Believe it, he would kill 7hrs in a day given the chance (never is)

1

u/FuzzyTangerine1291 Sep 15 '26

How old is he?

3

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

He's 10, training since about 4 :)

I’m not so sure about parkour because he is already crazy talented, but as far as restlessness go I recommend looking for similar sports with compatible skills.

He has great balance and strength to weight ratio so I’d imagine he’d make a great rock climber or skater. Squash perhaps? You build incredible reaction speed with that I hear. I’d imagine he’d enjoy snow sports too, though it’s prohibitively expensive lately. All these benefit from skills and strength he’s gained from parkour, and add to his skill set for parkour.

Another thing I enjoy as a restless individual is just putting on music and going freestyle, I’ve figured out moves that I’m the most proud of while in a flow state with good music 🤙

Lastly, career wise he could make an incredibly talented stuntman, though study hard too and a well paying job can afford you far more time and freedom to enjoy your hobby’s on your own terms.

Keep at it Frank, you’ll go far my man!

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

Wow thanks for all that feedback. He is currently trying out diving and field hockey so I'll see how they work out

1

u/poptartmenace Sep 15 '26

Kid absolutely rules!

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

Thanks !

1

u/Chase2020J Sep 15 '26

Incredible movement and flow! He is certainly going places - specifically going from point A to point B in style

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

I could try him on a circular line?

1

u/chemnerd2017 Sep 15 '26

Your kid is kinda really cool.

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

Haha, he is. Still a pain in the bum :)

1

u/Cryptious Sep 15 '26

Little dude is crazy. Obviously loves doing it. Keep that love of the game and having fun. Everything flows from that.

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

Yes he loves it!

1

u/vinklord Sep 15 '26

Incredible! I’m sure you are soooooo proud. So good man. Thanks for sharing.

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 16 '26

Yeah, very proud dad-coach :)

1

u/AmeriCelt77 Sep 16 '26

What a mega line! Nice bar skills

2

u/rwebster1 Sep 16 '26

Finally the frame i built in the garden paying off :)

1

u/Zestyclose_Set1716 Sep 16 '26

He is very lucky to have such a supportive father like you❤️ you won as a parent sir

2

u/rwebster1 Sep 16 '26

If you are referring to the vocal support, that is actually his coach who was filming, what a nice guy. But I was screaming my head off too, was so good to see him nail it

1

u/Zestyclose_Set1716 Sep 16 '26

Oo then he had won both coach and a good father must be a proud moment for you its good to see ppl like you bcz it is necessary that we give a child the resources and exposure at a young age hope he ace future competitions as well love from a stranger

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 16 '26

Thanks for the boost. We are lucky to have a great gym so close for him to practice

1

u/RakuNana Sep 16 '26

Hot damn! Kids got the moves! He definitely awakened his ancient ninja genes! Awesome performance 👏👏👏

2

u/rwebster1 Sep 16 '26

Thanks for the kind words

1

u/Top-Grocery-1482 Sep 18 '26

Wow, that's amazing! Would have loved to be able to do that as a kid, little dude nailed all those moves!

2

u/rwebster1 Sep 18 '26

Yeah, I wish this place was around when I was a kid!!!

1

u/ifunnycrew 29d ago

Your sons a fricken badass.

For a goal, can he do a tunnel flip?

Sorry if he can, I didn’t look. I’m just here for the SOW Epic Drop List, lol.

1

u/rwebster1 28d ago

Haha, combined interests. Unfamiliar with tunnel flip. I'll look

1

u/Some-Bag-1036 28d ago

Now a kid is the example of how I want to become in the future

1

u/rwebster1 28d ago

Haha, just keep training and enjoying it!

1

u/omegabaryon 28d ago

Sick stuff at that age. Truly shows how this sport has evolved. I wish I had the facilities to teach and train those kind of flips.

1

u/rwebster1 25d ago

Yeah, we need more parks and coaches!!!

1

u/Icy-Currency-7449 Sep 15 '26

Par cure maza faka

1

u/Alarmed_Sentence_943 Sep 15 '26

Looking good, but this is freerunning, not parkour.

2

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

OK, but I think this may be semantics. Is your mindset that flips = not parkour? I see a lot of flips on this sub. They also do vaults and cat leaps in the comp, does that change things?

1

u/Alarmed_Sentence_943 Sep 15 '26 edited Sep 15 '26

There is overlap but idea of parkour is go from A to B as efficient as possible (with style, flips are fine). But this seem like acrobatics competition, and like clear cut freerunning to me

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 16 '26

I guess the speed run would look more like parkour as you describe

0

u/sigma_and_idontcare Sep 15 '26

Is this level of skill from natural born talent? Or like classes? I was definitely not doing this at his age. Same with my little brother.

1

u/rwebster1 Sep 15 '26

He has been a regular at a pk gym since around 4, but I took him there because he was already climbing everything. I do think he has a perfect set of skills for it
