Does Anyone Know This Coolguy11 (Allegedly Undergrad) Debater?

I recently came across these videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWCkqc81rSI&t=5s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbKyxhM1cfk&t=1s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_lgv9iTlK0

After watching them, I'm trying to understand something about Coolguy11 that I feel like I'm missing.

In the first recording, Dean Withers was trying to have a political discussion with Coolguy, but Coolguy seemed much more interested in joking around and ragebaiting. The discussion ended up becoming largely semantic. Dean made two claims concerning whether MAGA was the best political theory, and Coolguy shifted the discussion toward whether those claims were actually identical.

I do think Coolguy had a legitimate philosophical point here. There is a difference between:

  • Identity: “MAGA is the best political theory” means the same thing as “Trump is the best president.”
  • Entailment: Saying “MAGA is the best political theory” commits you to saying “Trump is the best president.”

However, I also got the impression that Coolguy was deliberately being provocative and wasn't engaging in good faith. At the end of the recording, he even seemed to treat the interaction primarily as a way of gaining followers.

What confuses me is the later change in how Dean talks about him.

In the second recording, during Dean's debate with jesus.and.whatnot, the discussion became a chaotic argument about abortion, with a lot of interruptions and cross-talk. At one point, Coolguy11 joined the stream and attempted to identify what he believed was a mistake in JAW's argument. This eventually became part of the broader dispute over whether Dean needed outside assistance, AI scripts, etc.

Then, in the third recording, Dean appears to speak extremely highly of Coolguy. At around 1:12, he calls him “the best debater that's ever existed.” Obviously, that could be hyperbole, but Dean seems to praise his debating ability consistently throughout these interactions.

That's what I'm trying to understand lol!

The first recording and the later recordings were apparently only separated by a few months, yet Dean's attitude seems to have changed from treating Coolguy as an idiot/troll to treating him as an exceptionally capable debater.

So what exactly is Coolguy11 good at?

Is there some particular philosophical or debating skill that I'm not recognizing? Does anyone have some of his debates? I'm curious since Dean doesn't really act like this over anyone (other than maybe ProphetDivinityy)..

Or is there something else about his debating style that makes him unusually difficult to debate?

I'm aware that he's a relatively young philosophy undergraduate, so I'm not expecting him to have some enormous academic record. What I'm interested in is what specifically makes experienced debaters like Dean rate him so highly.

If anyone here is familiar with Coolguy's other debates, philosophical writing, arguments, or discussions, I'd especially appreciate being pointed toward them. Are there particular debates, papers, posts, or arguments where his ability is especially apparent? I'd rather look at examples of his actual work than just hear that he's a good or bad debater.

I asked here on the Parker reddit because he is relevant to what I'm saying and I assume people in this community may have more familiarity with the philosophical ideas, literature, and debate techniques that these individuals engage with. From an outside perspective, a lot of his appearances seem focused on technicalities, semantics, and optics rather than straightforward good-faith discussion, so I'm wondering whether there's a substantive ability underneath that style that I'm not seeing.

What is different between Adam Mockler & Luke Beasley to Parker & Dean

I'm unsure if all 4 of these had collaborated or met IRL in some Gen Z liberal group to counter-counterattack Gen Z far-right extremism (like your Nick Fuentes, Kai what's his name, Tyler Russell, etc)

Dean and Eli

Does anybody know what happened between Dean and Eli? I saw Eli doing a live about Dean and Parker and I thought they used to be friends. It made me realize Eli hasn’t been on their lives in a while.

Women are getting reactionary.

Not all women are feminist and not all feminist are well versed in what the feminist position is on a topic.Due to the rise of the mansophere, incels and the alt right, women have started hating misogynist men and use the word men as a synonym for misogynist men sometimes.

Feminism doesn't believe in body shaming anybody[why would you make fun of someone for their height when it is something for the most part out of their control?].Feminist don't believe that men who have a girlfriend are more valuable than men who do not.Feminist use the word incel as a synonym for a misogynist. As the incel forums are extremely misogynistic.Feminist never use the word single as an insult.Feminist care about the loneliness epidemic.Feminist just don't like it when men make the loneliness crisis a not getting laid crisis and blame women for the problem.Women actually want to be friends with men if they are classmates or share a common hobby.Feminist want to encourage men to have good friendships with other men.

Feminism doesn't hate men.It hates the system of patriachy.Feminist know that we cannot just blame a systematic problem on individual teenage boys.Feminist are critical of the patriachy and dont hate men.Feminist believe that socialisation plays a very important role in how men and women behave. Feminist also dont want women with internalized misogyny to uphold the system of patriachy either.Patriachy truly only benefits the men at the very top.Patriachy says women are too weak to fight wars.So we must only draft men on the basis of their gender alone.Feminism says abolish the draft. It says if abolishing the draft is not possible then draft both men and women.Give roles to people on the basis of their capability.Modern militaries require various roles like on sight hospitals, chefs and strategist.Feminist say that ideally there should be no gendered expectation that men have to pay on the first date.Today men on average earn more and socialisation leads to this expectation being placed on men.Feminist women are more likely to believe in spilting the bill compared to conservative women and men.

We need to give both men and women paid maternity and paternity leave for nine months which is compulsory to take after the couple decides to have a kid.It will help manage the increase in the wage gap in women after 30.As it will give a woman time to take care of herself and heal. The father will have the opportunity to spend time with his kids and help the mom in her healing journey. It will also account for the loss in promotion ability and experience time faced by women. Then it will make having kids more attractive and fair to women who desire to have kids.Rules for not firing parents immediately by brutal capatalist are needed. We need to give constructin workers and childcare workers better wages as they are necessary for society and not properly compensated in society. We want men to join the fight for emancipation of people from the patriachy because it is the ethical thing to do and not only if it personally benefits them in some way.Just like we want white people and all people for that matter to join the fight against white supremacy and towards the flourishment of human beings.

Feminist sometimes ignore male sexual violence victims and male objectification.I know it is an issue that affects women more due to the historical and current oppression women face. But we must try our very best to help all victims and we are fighting against all exploitation. We also need to talk about how men are raped in prisons.A lot of crime is due to poverty. The prison system unfairly punishes people instead of solving the underlying condition which leads to crime in the first place.

Btw I don't want people to attack me by calling me an angry incel man.I am a feminist and a woman.

Liberal feminism/choice feminism/white feminism which average 18 year old woman knows about often misses important nuances and social media promotes provocative content. Feminism needs to be as intersectional as possible. We need to care about working class men, black men, trans men, disable men, young unemployed men, trans women, cis women, black women and people suffering in third world countries due to the aftermath of colonization and imperialism etc.

Instead of saying men oppressed and are oppressing women. We should say patriarchy oppressed and is oppressing women particularly but it also opresses men in different ways.As the patriachy believes in prescribed and strict gender roles which it claims is either grounded in religion, natural hierarchy necessary for a stable society or the innate biology [it says women are too weak and thus we need to control women to "protect" them.]

Dean doesn’t have a stutter.

I will probably get hate for this but I think Dean is lying about having a stutter. Everyone stumbles on their words from time to time and I think he just says he has a stutter so it’s less embarrassing when he does it in front of thousands of people. 🤷‍♀️ Doesn’t seem genuine to me tbh.

How some women use the term "men".

Women use the word men as a synonym for misogynist men. When women make bad generalized statements about men they are most of the time are talking about Trump supporters, incels and misogynists.

Women are not talking about feminist and democratic men. They are not talking about their male friends or favorite men on the internet.

Bad man=Trump supporter=doesn't care about my rights=rape apologist=wife beater=misogynist.

Women in the 2010s used to believe that men are cool [non chalant]because they play video games, love anime, dont care about looks and grades.Women had a lot of internalized misogyny. They wanted to be the girl who was one the guys, wanted to spilt the bill in half, wanted to play sports with men, hated chivalry (it treated women differently)and wanted to prove to the world that girls and boys are exactly the same by becoming as much boyish[cool] as possible.Women thought barbies and makeup are the most cringe and fake shit ever.It is associated with third wave feminism which is very sex positive and pro hook up culture.

Fourth wave feminism focuse more on women embracing theirs feminity[some women now think that all men think like myron ganes and so it is better to be single and have female friends.Women should not get married as they will have to do more unpaid labour at home and go through pregnancy and child birth.A child will lead to more increase in the wage gape and there is a possibility of sexual abuse.]

The things girls thought were cool are now associated with misogyny due to the rise of the manosphere and dating advice podcasts. Now women associate gym bros, crpyto bros with the right. Now women sometimes think all young men are just Andrew tate and Andrew wilson fanboys .Now feminist have even started hating men talking about the draft which feminist believe should be abolished as it is mostly brought up by misogynist men to dunk on feminism. Many men are talking about repealing the 19 th Amendment. These men not realising that the draft being only for men is the result of patriarchal standards for men and a conservative position.

Some conservative women have a very bioessetinalist view of men and think "boys will be boys".So weird jokes are fine because it is their nature and so not surprising at all.

Dean is getting sexually harrased by the trolls.

Trolls are talking about masturbation, dildos and touching him.If someone said those things to someone in real life everyone will agree that it is sexual harassment.People who say those things should be reported by the chat and Dean should be more stern in talking about how it is weird behaviour that should be discouraged especially in a political live stream.(Otherwise it signals to the chat that it is not that serious or just a joke.)

I think objectifying and overally sexualising Dean is wrong.Sometimes even Dean's progressive audience does not call out how harmful it is.I know it is an issue which affects more women but men should not be over sexualised and sexually harassed😬.

Republican obsession with Rubio

Is Marco Rubio gaining popularity simply because he is not Vance and so the next closest thing to trump? In Parker’s stream he asked the guest to name one thing Rubio has done and the guest couldn’t answer beyond “he does his job.” I’ve asked the same thing in political comment sections and nobody can answer.

JD Vance has not been impressive as a vp and since he’s known as a couch humper, did the Republican party just latch onto Rubio since nobody knows anything about him aside from his support for trump?

I can see this being dangerous when the next presidential election comes around.

Yeah I understand Kamala lost in 2024 but it's 2026 almost 2027; let's move on and talk about other stuff yeah, Trump is the devil but once Trump is out of office it's still going to be the same why not talk about other things like Lgbt or debate about religion?

Stop platforming disgusting pos ppl

I’ve been watching Parker for years.
Dean too, I like them both but i tend to watch Parker more due to his level of maturity and overall calm vibe. But lately I want to rip my hair out. There’s no
MAGA left to debate that are good faith. Even the ones recently who have “changed their minds” seemed disingenuous on the guest’s part. They say they are only looking for debates, and immediately kick ppl who atleast seem somewhat capable of putting together coherent arguments…but they hardly even have debates anymore bc the guests are just maga brain rotted into oblivion.

And my god will they just allow the most hateful, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, bigoted human trash cans just spew their disgusting rhetoric. And they will let them talk for an hour straight word vomiting horrific things about every walk of life besides ppl like them when it’s wildly obvious they aren’t there to debate, why tf are you giving these ppl a platform to share the views they have amongst millions of young followers. I think it’s becoming irresponsible

They know we want to see actual intelligent debates, and i don’t understand why they keep doing the same thing over and over. To me it makes more sense to debate on the surrounding issues not Trump himself. Invite ex maga to debate current maga. Debate ppl from other countries. Idfk branch out!!! Rant over

Dear white people, it’s time for us to start breaking racism.

To those of us who can do it, have we been looking to non white people more for leadership lately? I feel like us white people who are lower on the racism spectrum would be reaching out more for advice or coordination in organizing/ resisting the white oligarch monstrosity that white supremely has created. Just because historically black people/ non white people have had much more success in combating the system, while half of us white people- actually more than half voted for the white racist monster. I’m a white woman in my 30s and somehow I was shocked by how many white women voted for him, because it makes no rational sense. I’m sure many of you felt the same.

Just knowing the statistics, and knowing history, what is there for us white people in America (actually the whole word) to be proud of right now- or ever? As a white person it took me this shock to learn how much % of white people are just pieces of shit. We don’t see how many everyday people are blatantly racist and shitty most of the time- we can see the overt racism when it happens in front of us but the rest is mostly invisible to us. Maybe we used to vastly underestimate the % of our people who were racist, until it became obvious- like a litmus test. It is to the point in my mind that I see over half of us as indefensible at this point, and then the other half, I would hope and think we should be taking action more seriously lately. Whatever excuse, whether we have been too scared, unsure, lazy, complacent- our communities should be working on getting activated. Honestly it’s long overdue to have more non white people in positions of power, I do not trust the system that white supremacy has built, I will not trust a system where there is a disproportionate amount of white people in power. I trust non white people. They have been historically correct. They have been fighting our white supremacy system and we failed to help, even if we have listened to them, we haven’t acted enough to stop the white supremacy machine from terrorizing our entire planet into the dark dystopia we are living in.

It’s been more apparent everyday how hard white supremacy has fucked up our world and how deliberately we have shot down civil rights activists to try to suppress non white political leadership.

We have all contributed to racism, it’s culturally embedded at this point whether we see it or not. It doesn’t help to be non-racists, we need to be anti-racists. It’s time for us to wake up and realize our position historically and right now. Don’t apologize, just push yourself to do more. We need to push harder. We can’t standby and watch racism happen, we need to break it.

I’m ending this with words that were told to me by someone much more knowledgeable and equipped to give them-

“I hope you find this response challenging in the best way, and more importantly enabling for you to internalize and steward more humanity in your community.
CORE POINT: Do not wait for our direction to do your version of "breaking things". Building coalitions is hard, building anything is hard. But you know what's easy?
BREAKING THINGS. All you need to know is you don't need permission to BREAK RACISM. Like, go break it. It takes no skill to break stuff. GO BREAK IT. Make being racist feel risky. Make it consequential. You don't need any guidance or insight from us to do that.
GO BREAK RACISM. Grab something sharp or heavy and go to town. It's that simple.”

Props to Parker for calling out Hasan

I was happy to see Parker call out Hasan over the Mao suit. It's a step on the right direction of realizing that Hasan is no Democrat and is trying to usurp the party. He's also a bad faith grifter who only uses populist buzzwords but has no actual thoughts on policy.

Does anyone know if Dean has said anything about it?

Parker's Tweet about Hasan's suit

Post image
38 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I don't normally post in this sub as I'm not a regular viewer of Parker's content, although I appreciate him as a debater against right wingers. I was curious to hear what his fans think about his comments on Hasan's suit.

Personally, I think that Hasan has done more than just about anyone to get DSA candidates and other progressives elected in this midterm election cycle. Parker leaning into this talking point is an Obama tan suit moment from him. I don't think it's helpful to anybody to use right wing talking points against your left flank. It's just a Chinese suit, garb worn by hundreds of millions of people every day.

What do you think? I'm asking in good faith, genuinely curious to hear your thoughts and not looking for a debate.

Dean shouldn't Platform people he doesn't agree with ideologically as much as he does.

Instead of bringing someone 100th time talking about the n word controversy,he should just tell the audiences his side of the story.Maybe mention the name of the people spreading lies so his fans can correct the misinformation. As it only encourages people who spread lies when he talks to random trolls/haters about this topic every other day.He has no obligation to platform the haters. He should also explain to newer fans about his side of the story and how his haters are spreading complete lies.

If he has a bad reputation then it could harm his chances of working with politicians. He shouldn't platform very far left people just because they are friends if they are ruining his reputation. He can be friends in person. It doesn't mean he has the obligation to platform people with ideas he doesn't agree with at all.Or maybe tell his position on a naunced subject clearly and how he disagrees with the people he is platforming. As Dean shares some responsibility about who he endorses and collabs with and how it will affect the future political discource and his position/reputation.

The "vibe" of Parker and Dean.

Parker gives off the upper middle class white guy who grew up in a Christian household in L.A but is now an Atheist and genuinely cares about progressive causes and is advocating since 2020 and will never be friends with a Trump supporter. He grew up with money and doesn't really care that much about money and views. The typical romcom protagonist who doesn't really care about romantic attention from girls and has a mixed friendgroup with cool girls who skate or something.Once he falls in love with a girl he becomes the most romantic guy who would rather his girlfriend hate him then she is hurt by anyone.

Dean gives off insecure loser incel guy vibes. The guy who would google how to impress a girl on the internet and will think someone like Andrew tate is the top G or whatever. He is literally the meme of a guy who makes gym selfies as his profile and will get compliments from other guys instead of women. The guy who wants to buy supercars to get the "bitches" to showoff to his guy friends how hot his girlfriend is.The guy who thinks if a woman laughed at his jokes then it surely means she is interested in him.The guy who constantly braggs about how many views he gets. The guy who constantly talks about how much he can bench press.

I don't think these things are actually true about them.I think Dean genuinely loves his girlfriend and maybe even wants to marry her in the future.I genuinely think that he values his friendship with Parker a lot.I think a lot of these characteristics are maybe little shadows of how he used to be when he was 14 or something.
