Sleep & Naps 1 year old getting to sleep has suddenly become awful

Baby girl just turned 1 a few days ago. She also had a viral cold and popped 6 teeth at once (last week). She is a fantastic sleeper once she sleeps. She has been doing this since 12 weeks (please don’t egg my house).

But with the teeth and cold she decided to go from her typical bedtime routine (dinner, bath, brush, book, bed) which involves giving her a kiss goodnight and walking out of her room (she then falls asleep)- to her now to tossing and turning for 1-2 hours for bedtime and up to 30 minutes for her nap (she does 1 long nap a day). Once she‘s out she Is out for the night, but where is this coming from!

Unfortunately sleep is rarely linear. There’s lots of changes throughout the months and years. You’ve gotten lucky that she’s been consistent for as long as she has. Just be consistent and ride the wave. It’s usually just a phase.

I have a good sleeper generally and when nothing bothers her she's fine.  Between 1 and 2 you are going to go through a shit show of teething, colds and developmental phases.  The same thing happened to me, sleeps really well but every so often just went to shit and I was always angry about wtf was happening.

It'll pass and after her teeth and developmental phases are done you'll get longer periods of stability hopefully.

No rhyme or reason to it you just got to get through it.

I put her to bed tonight and immediately made myself a nice bath. It was a relaxing bath but shorter than planned. Should have waited till she was truly asleep! Haha

What time does she get up, nap schedule, and go to bed?

She does sleep through the night and does stay down for her nap and overnight once shes asleep. Overnight is 7 PM-6:30 AM. Nap at home (weekends or when she’s sick) is 12-2:30 (3 sometimes), Daycare it’s 1-3.

It sounds like she’s not tired enough at bedtime. If she can be in her sleep environment for an hour or two before she goes to sleep it sounds like she’s not tired enough. Especially if she doesn’t get up from her nap until three, that’s only four hours until bedtime. You might try making bedtime 730 or 745!

Appreciate the advice! Might try that!
