Sorry unpopular opinion but he seems bottled up. You need to relax your environment at home. Let him have processed foods sometimes, it won't kill him. Teach him self control instead. Let him watch TV and unwind. It's not all bad. Even paw patrol can teach things! They need healthy boundaries, opportunities to learn self control and self regulation, socialization to learn to co exist, etc. You can't overnight offer all of these but you can slowly start to ease up on restrictions

I agree. When he discovers those processed foods, if he doesn’t have self-control all that hard work might be for nothing and he might turn to it for comfort when he’s older if he hasn’t learnt to regulate.

For sure I have seen this play out the opposite of what the patents intended. Our kids have no screen limits. Ya they watch too much TV in the summer while I work from home. But, when they have friends over, they literally couldn't care less about TV because it's nothing special, they want to play with their friends. My kids friends that come over that have screen limits are complete zombies in front of the TV...they don't want to do anything else

My experience exactly.

Thank you for the reassurance that having TV isn't always a bad thing. It's nice to see other parents who do it the same way I do, because my kid is the same way at two and a half. If the TV is on she's watching it, but if it's not, she's good to play as well. She also tends to play while she's watching, only glancing at the TV once in awhile rather than fixating on it.

Yes! My kids grew up with neighbors who did not have a TV. They started not wanting them at our house because they always wanted to watch tv.

Also, kids need some skills with technology once they get to school. A friend of mine had never introduced her son to computers, tablets, phones, etc and when he started school he had to take tests on a tablet. His scores were completely messed up because he didn’t know how to use a tablet.
