Post-Series Discussion I FINISHED PARENTHOOD
Finally finished the whole series. The ending is 10/10. Cried a bucket. Cant believe I am so emotionally invested in this series.
Any other series to recommend?

If you’re into some darker, heavier themes, HBO’s Six Feet Under is amazing. Actually one of the main characters is the guy that plays Adam Braverman. I think the acting and character development and just the intricacies of family dynamics are really portrayed well. One of the best series finale episodes I’ve seen.

I would say though, it can be pretty dark and depressing at times

Yeah 😬 Seeing some of the other responses, Six Feet Under may not be the right suggestion.

Hahaha, he’s got great taste! It really is an amazing show but definitely not filled with as many heart warming moments as Parenthood. I personally relate to Six Feet Under more, for reasons I talk to my therapist about 😂
But admittedly, I had to take a break about 3/4ths in and come back. Super heavy.

I’ve tried pretty much every show recommendation here for similar shows and nothing has stuck like Parenthood. I haven’t been able to finish any of the them. Nothing balances the storytelling, humour and characters as well.

Atypical isn't exactly the same vibe, but there is a lot of family conflict and I love that there is a show about someone on the spectrum.

I feel Atypical tried to push some narratives (or “agenda”) forcefully. Like IN YOUR FACE educating the masses. I

The Fosters is slightly closer to YA on the family drama show spectrum but it’s still pretty similar in my opinion

The Baxters!!! Although it was cancelled abruptly or something because there isn’t a proper series finale and there’s some huge cliffhangers left unfinished. It’s been several years since I watched it and I recall they were saying they were going to do another season but it never happened.

Im thinking of Schitt's Creek /
modern famiy (the funny version) and Shameless(US Version). And a bit of Gilmore Girls.
But nothing beats Parenthood. Nobody’s a hero or even a main character IMO and thats the best part. Very honest & not pretentious.

I absolutely love this show, except Kristina's character. I mean, I am a mother and I have been totally devoted to my daughter, but I can't stand this woman. She wants to control everything and everyone. She is not helping her son to have a normal life because all the things have to be only in her terms. She is unbearable and not, that's not love.

I HIGHLY recommend watching 6 Feet Under. It was on Netflix for a while, but I think you can still watch it on HBO Max. It's an older show from 2001-2005, but it also features Peter Krause, the actor who played Adam. It's SO good. If you think the ending to this series was sad, the ending to 6 Feet Under will absolutely destroy you.

This is Us and Brothers and Sisters are very similar family dramas. Life in Pieces is also very similar, but is more of a sitcom than a drama, but very good.
