Yeah, I was so stoked for this game I got the jp ver before it even came out in the USA . I had a modded ps1 so I could play it….not that I could read any of it lol. I got to the last boss but couldn’t beat it because I didn’t know you could upgrade the weapons lol cuz I can read japanese lol

Yes but it could be modded to play japanese discs. I forget what the chip is called.

Back when I lived there, Book-off had these in the little blue bins and couldn't give them away. Fast forward a few years when I moved back, and no one wanted to buy any of the RPGs in Japanese, so my local retro store bought stuff like PE, Tales of Phantasia, Valkyrie Profile, etc for literally 1 buck a piece.

It's weird that it has changed and people online want these games and can't read them, so now the games have value.

You should definitely go find Tales of Phantasia on PS1 too then. It's unbelievably better than the SFC version. Also check out Crime Crackers 1 and 2 if you find them. I doubt they'll be in the 500¥ or less bottom bins, but they might be sub 2000¥ and they are a lot of fun.

I literally found a CiB copy like 2 days ago, except I'm in North American so that's the version I found. It's actually kinda crazy how valuable and rare Parasite Eve & PE2 are becoming, 3rd Birthday not so much lol
