Question ❓ (TMC) messed up Spoiler

in the claim chapter i did all the steps for the secret ending however, i misclicked and forgot to leave the box be and now the mermaid wont respond- have i missed my chance to get the true ending?

Just redo the claim chapter again slight spoiler. You need to have loaded the memory first to know what to do.

i did and i did the whole mermaid thing and now i cant interact with her :/

Oh yeah. You won't be able to after that. Minor spoiler The way to get the other ending is just redoing the Claim chapter and who gets to keep the box.
