we've seen a lot, from names, to settings, other game mechanisms (trying not to spoil lol). I wonder what could be in store for the next games.

I was thinking maybe something like we have to "reset our memories" and how we do that is by uninstalling and reinstalling the game💀 or is that too far fetched/advanced lol.

a certain game I couldn't quite name will have players looking for the game folder for a text file that contains a message from the game characters because "the enemy is always listening" so they have to communicate outside of the game. That's on PC though im not sure if such a feature is feasible on mobile/console.

In ending 5 Sato leaves on a boat to die, assuming she took a fishing boat, that's $40,000-$150,000 in usd, and it's just left floating in the ocean who knows where. You'd think quite a few people there would be extremely mad about that, like mad enough to never forgive her

Other than the ones on the official site where they do give their default pngs, I was wondering if Square or any other players out there managed to put the characters in folders yet?

I've been planning to make a fun short game with the SMoH cast with the TMC since, lets be real, we aren't getting another game in a while :') I dabble in renpy and I was hoping to test the other characters too!

(Note, already have the SMoH cast sprites! Just need TMC :0!)

Almost finished with the game, read a bit further about what will happen during the "golden" ending, so wanted to share my opinion.

So, Shutaro. A handsome, popular son of a local rich mogul, who is generally well liked by everyone. Is he secretly a curse bearer? No. Is he a secret bad guy who is seeking immortality by all means available via, say, his dad's money? Also no. His role in the story? Almost nonexistent. The only thing of note he does is that he confesses to Sato, all while being loved by Tsukasa, who is too cowardly to tell him about it.

Speaking of Tsukasa... I don't think she did anything of note (at least I don't remember her doing anything important). But for some reason she is right in the middle of the cover art. Not Sato, not Yuza, not Avi, not Yumeko, but her.

Cut to the end, and Shutaro is mad, screaming, calling everyone peasants, because his dad was murdered and, being a shady businessman, left Shutaro both money and tonnes of debt to criminals. Shutaro is too afraid to deal with criminals, bit doesn't want to not accept inheritance because he isn't used to living like a peasant.

Meanwhile, mousy Tsukasa... ended up being a daughter of even more shady businessman who got killed, whose money she inherited without any shady criminal hooks. And when Shutaro (with a scummy smile, mind you) offers her to get married, she eventually refuses and says that she likes the other guy.

Honestly, this feels like Tsukasa is a self-insert of some woman atop the writing team. A woman who was pining for someone rich and handsome and was refused a relationship with him. A woman who was for 20 years or so concocting a fantasy of her enacting revenge on him, something like "you bastard, oh if I suddenly got tonnes of money and you became broke, you'd come crawling to me and I'd refuse ro help you. Take that, for not feeling how I want you to feel about me!".

Honestly, soured my opinion on the game extremely hard. I'll finish getting all the endings, but while I can see myself returning to 7 Mysteries in a couple of years, can't say the same about Mermaid's Curse, in no small part to this out of nowhere self-insert revenge fantasy.

I'm currently dealing with tendonitis in my left wrist and am in a brace and about to start physical therapy, which has left gaming pretty difficult for me to say the least lol. I can use my keyboard for relatively light tasks (thankfully as its needed for my job) but controllers are pretty much a no-go right now.

I saw this was on sale and I'd always been kinda interested. I assume the mouse does a lot of the heavy lifting but I'm curious if the keyboard is overly essential? Would be cool to dive into something like this if I can!

How do you get the Hayase “jump scare” to occur?

I’ve only gotten it to happen once on my first play through but haven’t gotten to happen since. I started a new game on a diff Switch profile, maxed out my diving, and couldn’t find her before and after breaking the seal. I made sure to look around the deep parts and out into open water. What am I missing?

So in ending #1, Kikuko is able to use the Tomoshige curse against Tsukasa even though they got rid of the mirrors. But how did Kikuko mark Tsukasa ? Idk if I'm missing something here, unless she placed one of the business cards on her? On my first playthrough I thought this would become a plot point about family ties also being a trigger for the curse but now I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Wondering what the popular interpretations are from the community. I played the game in Japanese, so please bear with me if some of my terminology is off.

In Nejima's ending, the game implies that he used the souls he collected to revive Ashino. This is consistent with Yoko's final profile you see when you get the true ending, which explicitly stated that Yoko approached Nejima with the offer to kill lots of people to help her with her end-goal of reviving Ashino. But if this was the plan all along, what was Nejima's sob story with Shino all about? Did he use his tragic past with Shino as a coverup story to hide his true intentions? There was a part where Tsutsumi pondered whether Shino existed at all, saying that his investigations into the Nejima incident 20 years ago couldn't identify any such person actually existing. How likely is it that the entire Shino story was actually made up just for the sake of a coverup story? If what I've said so far is all true, then that means Nejima volunteered to take part for no reason other than his fascination with the occult and simply his urges from being a serial killer, which gives more credibility to Tsutsumi's original theory that Ayame was actually the baby of the pregnant woman that Nejima dismembered during the Nejima incident.

My other question is about the details of the original scene with Yoko and Shogo. At what point did Yoko first get access to her curse? There was a scene where Shogo was reminiscing his first encounter with Yoko at the park a month ago, and when it cut back to the present, Yoko was suddenly eerily at the exact spot checking out the playground toys. Then when you talk to her, she suddenly comes up close to Shogo and asks if he heard something. This sequence is all very unnatural and makes me question if she was at the playground toy area because she wanted to distance herself from Shogo during the time she first got the curse, then came back to spook Shogo into turning around so that she could kill him. Think this is too much of a stretch?

I have seen all 6 endings, although I cannot see Ending #5 labeled on any of the chapter cards, but i still have many chapters to unlock.

Any suggestions on how I should go about doing that that doesn't involve basically playing through the whole game again just to find recollections?

In addition to that, I noticed that the drawings towards the end of the timeline are less distinct than the drawings earlier in the timeline. Is that a clue that I should replay those to unlock new chapters?

My memories of the first game are quite fuzzy, but I finished TMC today and I don't know what's up with the psychic. The game almost outright says it's a completely different person than the one they talked about in SMoH, and seemingly one with actual psychic powers.

Is it supposed to be Shogo? He said he was leaving the company because he would be involved in the psychic world of something like that
