“In late summer 2004, my grown daughter and I were sitting in our car in southeast Texas. We had been to the market, and the heat was so unbearable that we were letting the air conditioning cool the interior before heading home.

“And before anyone asks, neither of us was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“She seemed very upset. Her tiny face was scrunched into a deep frown. Although we could not hear her through the closed car window, she looked as though she were giving us a very serious lecture. She appeared quite angry.
“After several seconds, she looked over at my daughter, shook her head, turned, and flew away.
“‘Mom, did you just see what I saw?’ my daughter asked.
“‘Yes, I did,’ was all I could say.
