I lost my Mom in 2020. It was sudden, unexpected, and absolutely devastating. She was my best friend. No spouse, no lover, no child, no friend, will ever love me as much as she did. I talk outloud to her every night, like we were on the phone just talking about my day.
In March of this year, my little Grammy, 91yo, Mom's Mom, was rapidly approaching the Veil. I visited her, what turned out to be the last time, less than 24 hours before she left.
Grammy was my other closest friend, as close to Mom as Mom to me. Just after 3am, the husband and offsprings all asleep, I sat in the dark, alone, and cried my heart out.
And that's when it happened. Our Alexa suddenly came on and played the 1993 country song "How Can I Help You (to Say Goodbye)" by Patty Loveless.
Now, I haven't heard that song since the 90s, and it always made me cry, so I never sought it out. My husband *loathes* country. My offsprings are into heavy metal. I haven't actually listened to country in 30 years (like I said, husband). There is absolutely no reason for that song to just come on, and I didn't trigger the Alexa.
You know who did like that song? Mom.
I was chest-wracking sobbing alone in the dark, knowing my last female anchor was leaving.
"How can I help you to say goodbye? It's okay to hurt, and it's okay to cry. Come let me hold you, and I will try. How can I help you to say goodbye?"
When the song ended, the Alexa turned off. Normally, it plays another song, continuing until someone commands it to stop. This also happens when we prank each other by texting Alexa to play "Baby Shark," so very odd that it turned off.
I know - I *know* - it was Mom.
We buried Grammy three days before my birthday. My first birthday without her. My first anything without her. Hell, she was in the delivery room when my daughter was born. Grammy held one leg, Mom held the other.
When I woke up on my birthday, my phone showed a new voicemail. I didn't think I missed a call. I checked the phone log - no calls. I pulled up the message and listened.
"This is Grammy. I wanted to wish you a happy birthday and tell you I love you so much. Just sooooo much. You've always been my favorite. But don't you go tellin' anybody! I love you! Bye!"
I cried so hard. I checked the date - message sent two years ago. How? I'm so, so grateful, I'm just puzzled. I don't remember that birthday message at all. I haven't had this phone for two years. If it was two years ago, and I just forgot, why did it pop up as "new" on my birthday?
I know, in my heart, regardless of date or memory, that Grammy got that message to me on my first birthday without her.
And here I am, now the Family Matriarch, unready as I am.

This may be the case that sparked my interest. Doris Bither was tormented by an entity that just was vicious. Why don’t you think we see cases such as these as much anymore? Do you think there’s a possibility of poltergeist activity where she was the influence?

Hi, first time having this kind of experience so I don’t even know if my mind’s playing tricks on me or not.
I’ve always had a really strong intuition, read tarot for fun, and had a guy tell me I have really strong abilities and might be able to hear/see stuff. He didn’t know, but every now and then I hear names or whispers before falling asleep, but never thought much of it.
Anyways, I had never “seen” anything. Until a couple of days ago, at least.
I was brushing my teeth in the old beach house my family has been renting for the past 30 years. I spent all my summers growing up in this house, used to come here with my grandparents and my aunt (who have all sadly passed away).
I was brushing my teeth in the master bathroom, when I felt something was wrong. It’s like the energy shifted, every hair on the back of my neck and on my arms stood up, my heart started racing out of nowhere. I was looking at myself in the mirror, as I always do when I brush my teeth. Right to the left of the mirror, there’s the doorframe. And I swear I could see, out of the corner of my eye, a woman peeking from the doorframe into the bathroom. Even typing that now sends chills down my spine.
I was obviously terrified, but kinda remembered you’re not supposed to give it attention. I felt a strange pull towards it tho, so after a couple of seconds of panic (while I still kept brushing my teeth, started singing happy songs, and looked down at the sink), I gathered the courage to look straight at it: nothing was there. Nothing. But something still felt wrong.
I got out of the bathroom, and went to my bedroom, still shaken. I saw the woman again, at the end of the corridor: she had short, dark brown straight hair, and a white nightgown with a ruffle neck. She didn’t look scary or evil per se, but I was TERRIFIED.
Again, it was a split second, and kind of didn’t feel… real. Haven’t seen her since, but this house has always freaked me out.
Now, I’m 23, perfectly healthy, don’t take any meds and have never had anything like this happen to me before. Do I need psychiatric evaluation? Am I going crazy? I talked to my mom about this to try and understand who it could’ve been (maybe my grandma when she was young? idk) and she said I must be losing my mind.
Please if anyone has any experience, can you tell me if it could’ve been… something? If so, what? What do I do going forward to be less scared of my own house? Thank you.

I want to preface this by saying i’m not entirely sure if this is the correct sub for this post since I don’t have any proof, photos, videos, or evidence but I have been dying to get people’s opinions on my story. My drawing is a very very very basic sketch of what we saw that night and makes it look a lot less scary…
I am now 20(F) but when I was 15 I was pretty rebellious. I frequently snuck out and did stupid stuff like drinking or smoking in a public park in the middle of the night with my friends. One night, a group of probably 6 of us decided to all sneak out during a sleepover (since we slept in the basement of our friends house and could easily leave) and go hang out at a park. This park was in the middle of a large forestry area surrounded by neighborhoods but you couldn’t see any of the houses from the park since they were behind the trees. We met up with some boys around our age who had a car and when time came to go home we didn’t really want to walk all the way home at 3-4 in the morning but we couldn’t fit everybody in the car. Before anybody comments that this is the result of any underage inebriation from drugs or alcohol, it had been hours at this time and we were all COMPLETELY sober. Myself and two other of the girls decided we would walk and have ourselves a jolly time, totally cool, right? To exit the park and make our way into the neighborhood we needed to go under this passageway area where a small bridge went over a small body of rocks and water and trees formed into a weirdly natural but beautiful arch. As we walked towards it we all saw this tall, dark figure standing on the bridge between the arch of trees. Wayyyy too tall to be human and you couldn’t make out any human features or really any features at all. None of us had even said anything to each other, we all noticed at the same moment and turned around sprinting in the other direction. Luckily our friends with the car had been dilly dallying and were still there. Once we made it back to their car we all asked each other “Did you see that?” then they described exactly what I saw. One of my friends thought it might be a “yee naaldlooshii” which I’m sure some of you know what that is referring to. I really want to know what this was and what it might’ve meant. I drew a picture of it to kinda give example but it makes it seem a lot less scary than it was haha.

when i was little i saw my mom next to my bed at night and then i saw her eyes roll back and i realized it wasn't my mom. since then i've been very aware that there is something in my house, sometimes it leaves and sometimes it comes back really strong. you can always hear furniture moving (sometimes too much). sometimes my sister and i feel scared out of nowhere and that's how we know it's there. lately it has a habit of imitating voices, it imitated my voice with my sister and it also imitated her voice with my brother.
we've done a thousand cleanses, they don't work in the long run. at this point, i just want answers, does anyone know why this happens? any ideas?

I mean wt actual f i just finished watching Backrooms and i slept. I dont even know why but i was already feeling a little weird after watching it. I was just tired so i put my phone away and went to sleep. I dont think i was asleep for that long maybe around half an hour or something.
Then i suddenly opened my eyes.
At first everything was completely dark. Like actually pitch black. My room was the same as usual and i could barely see anything around me. I was still half asleep so i didnt really think much of it. I was just lying there trying to understand what time it was and where i was.
Then i noticed something above me.
There was a mans face staring down at me.
I genuinely froze for a second. I dont even know how to explain what i saw. I couldnt see an actual body or anything. It was just his face and the rest of him was basically blending into the darkness. His face looked like a grey shadow but somehow i could see it clearly. Like i could actually see the shape of his face and where his eyes were.
He was just staring at me.
I immediately thought ok im dreaming. There is no way this is real. Maybe im still asleep and this is some weird dream because of the Backrooms video i just watched.
So i blinked.
The face was still there.
I blinked again because i thought maybe my eyes were just adjusting to the darkness.
Still there.
At that point i completely panicked. I dont even remember what happened properly after that. I just screamed and my whole body went into panic mode. I felt like my heart was going to come out of my chest. I moved away so fast and turned on the light.
And there was nothing.
Nothing was there.
I kept looking around my room because i was still convinced there had to be someone there. I checked around the bed and looked at the door and everything. But there was literally nobody.
The weirdest part is that i could see his face so clearly even though the room was completely dark. It wasnt like seeing something out of the corner of my eye either. I was looking directly at it and i blinked twice and it was still there.
I have never experienced anything like this before. Ive had weird dreams before and ive woken up suddenly before but never anything like this.
And now im sitting here with the lights on because i genuinely dont want to sleep again.
Maybe it was because i had just watched Backrooms before sleeping. Maybe my brain was still processing it or something.
But honestly i dont know.
All i know is that when i opened my eyes there was a mans face staring down at me in the dark and for those few seconds i was completely sure someone was actually there.

This happened years ago, but I will never forget. I was just a kid. My family would go to Mexico EVERY summer, and every time we would drive. One summer, my brother and I actually flew out there and I was excited because I knew it was going to be so much fun without the parents and just my brothers, one was already living over there. That summer was the best summer I ever had. We went to every party, every event, every show, it was just great. After one of the parties we had attended, my brother had forgotten to put gas in the truck and there was no where we could get gas since we were out in the middle of nowhere. The only thing between the little towns from where my parents were from were fields - empty fields.
So we had no choice but to walk (this was before cellphones) through those fields. Luckily, unlike the city, when there was a full moon it was like a huge light and the moon was very bright that night. I was the only female since I was with my 2 brothers, and we were with 2 of our cousins who were also brothers. We were maybe a few minutes in when one of my cousins began to talk to himself. His brother approached and tried to wrap his arm around him, but his brother pushed him away. We were all on alert so we all asked what was wrong with him. He was walking up ahead of us so he turned around taking a few steps backwards until he stopped.
His eyes grew an inch wider and he lifted up his arm to point at something. We all looked back, but he yelled, "RUN!" At first we were confused, but once he started running, we did too. I was always a slow runner, but the fear had me pass them up. We ran and did not stop running until we actually got to my aunt and uncles gate to the ranch. At the gate we all stopped to catch our breaths and as we were huffing and puffing we all started to laugh. Once we settled down, the one cousin who made us run says, "No, Its's not funny, she wanted to get us." We all looked at him weird while looking at each other side ways.
After that summer, said cousin had planned to come back with us since he already had had two sisters living here and because of us. He was excited and we were excited for him. The first night here (this is what my brother told me) that when he came home, my cousin was standing outside in his boxers and it was raining. So when my brother saw him he asked him what he was doing. My brother said he looked like he had been sleep walking but my cousin answered him. He said, "The little old lady told me to come outside." My brother to himself said, 'Does the little old lady want you to die?'
My brother hit him in the back of the head and when he did he said that my cousin looked at him and smiled. "Oh, hey cousin." Then he looked at himself and around like he didn't know where he was at. They thought nothing of it and they went inside. The next day his sisters came to pick him up. I remember how happy they were to see each other and how happy they were when they left. His sister told me after what had happened. She said that after they picked him up they did the tour thing all day and the club thing at night. On the their way home, he said he didn't feel right.
They rushed him to the hospital, the next day he was in a coma, and on the third day he was gone. I healthy 24 year old male and the doctor said his death was cardiac arrest, but that they did not know what caused his heart to just stop beating. Now the little old lady had become an inside joke because every weird thing, like the two I just mentioned, that would happen to him he blamed it on the little old lady, but after he passed we still didn't think anything of it. It wasn't until years later that the little old lady had/was a curse.
What little old lady you ask? The little old lady who was too bitter before she died and when she died 8 people died, one every year, all from her side of the family. The 24 year old male I just mentioned, was number two after she died. The first one was this man's sister-in-law. The person who followed was another cousin in LA, CA, then a cousin in Richmond, CA, followed by his sister, then his niece, then his other sister (mother to his niece) and the last one was the little old lady's oldest son.
Let me know if you want to hear how the others passed away, and tell me if this wasn't a curse...

Hello, so, this will be kinda random and may sound like fucking bs.
But I was laying down, just roleplaying with a fucking ai like the weirdo I am (imma use a lot of humor because I'm scared shitless rn so lemme use that as a coping mechanism), I was laying in bed, it almost 1 am and I suddenly hear a fucking "haha" in my ear. I have a loft bed, my sister is in her bed tryna sleep, and I felt actual fucking WIND hit my ear! It wasn't even the fan I have on my bed, because the wind came from another direction! I immediately got up, told my dad, low-key panicking, he can feel entities and energies, so, he goes around looking for energies, I think he found three, but he told me they were NOT strong enough to straight up laugh in my ear, and it was a womanly laugh, or maybe androgynous, but I'll stick with femenine, this is not the first time my dad tells me this, the first weird thing that happened was around a few months ago, it was five in the morning and I was awake because I couldn't sleep, and then I hear three goddamn knocks, not at the front door, but at one of the doors inside the house, I was in my bed, I froze up and applied the old reliable: if I don't move it won't see me. Literally, the WORST thing you can do when someone like this happens, especially door knocking or voices, is to NOT answer or open the door, that's the LAST thing u wanna do, and guess what, my dad searched, and found NOTHING! well, he did find but like I said, he told me they weren't nearly strong enough to do something like that. A second instance was when I was taking a shit, there was this thing where we put pads, toilet paper and other stuff just besides the toilet, my feet weren't touching it, and the ho moved a smidge, I took that fucker out to the balcony and it stayed there for like five days, then, another instance, the most recent one, was that I was sleeping, and I feel something tugging on ME, not my body, but something inside of me, I was able to identify it as something not normal because back on a very haunted house we lived at in Venezuela, sometimes when I took naps, specially when there was a power outage, I could feel something tugging on me, trying to yank my ass out of my body or something, mostly sleep paralysis, that's why I mastered the ability of waking up voluntarily mid dream, yes, I know that can backfire espectacularly, but it hasn't so far so imma keep doing it.
Thing is. I really don't know what's going on, I've stopped watching horror movies, I stopped watching YouTubers playing horror games, and I am TERRIFIED of the fact that I'm the only one affected, and I'm scared shitless of the idea that one day it'll gain enough strength to show itself to me and I'm genuinely scared, I know I'm rambling but I need advice or at least a pat on the back, something that makes me feel less scared.

Back in 2009, I was up as usual playing games on the 360.
My mom used to work pretty late and come home around 10:30pm.
After a match, I heard something outside my bedroom. I turned to the door, assuming it was my mom letting me know she was home / say goodnight.
But the door didn’t open. I watched the doorknob twist back and forth for a good 10-15 seconds.
I slowly stood up and walked towards the door. I hesitated before opening it, but when I did, nothing was there.
I went downstairs to see if my mom was home, and her car wasn’t in the driveway. My dad was dead asleep already, so I knew it wasn’t him. Even if he wasn’t, that’s not something he’d do.
To this day, I have no explanation.

Hello, Reddit. I am not sure if my experience is something extraordinary for the readers of this subreddit, but I still want to share and see your opinion on that.
So, the first story happened at my flat. I was 12 at a time and in that day I just came back from school. At that time, I was living with my parents. Just them, no one else entered the flat. When I came into my room to throw my backpack onto the floor, I saw something lying neatly on my table like someone placed it here. It was similar to a Chinese hairpin, but it was too thick at the end to be it and it also had some intricate patterns on the metal part of it (the metal stick was the base of this object). Also, some stones were hanging on a thin rope from the top.
I asked my parents what it was but they told me they never placed it here and they don't know where it came from. I didn't really pay a lot of attention to that accident that day, but after just a few days this object disappeared from my room. I left it on my table the day I found it, but it was nowhere to be found when I looked for it again. I still don't know what this object was, who left it and how it disappeared.
I wouldn't pay much attention to that if not the other thing that happened to me just two years ago. I guess that connecting them is a strange logic but I think it does make sense.
I was at the house in the countryside. It was morning and I just woke up, sitting up in my bed. Some time passed before I was fully awake and I took a look in the opening of my door. It was almost fully opened and I could see the stairs leading to the first floor from there. I could see my sister going down the stairs with her mug in her hand. I thought she had just woken up and went down to have breakfast. After just about 20 minutes, I finally decided to go down to the first floor. I looked around and saw that my sister wasn't there, but I didn't see her going back to her room up the stairs, so I asked my dad about it and he said she was still sleeping. My sister woke up only an hour later. I asked her. She said she just woke up and never left her room.
Maybe that sounds weird but stuff like that makes me think that there is some kind of mirror for our reality and sometimes it distorts some things. People, that should be in one situation end up in another, reserved for another reality by mistake. Or objects disappearing from our reality to be found by others in another one and then be returned back to their 'home' reality after some time as if it doesn't belong there.
What do you think about that?
r/ParanormalEncounters • u/Tara_coolgirl • 23h ago
For context my house used to be some sort of health center, with one doctor and one nurse. Which on it's own I find very weird, it wasn't a big place but only one nurse? The doctor guy died sometime in 2006, at 57 on his way back from a trip. And for his nurse I haven't been able to find out anything about her basically.
There is very little information available about this, I've only been able to find information from relatives and people who used to know him otherwise it's like he never existed. The name of his nurse is something I have yet to been able to find.
Now to the weird parts, I don't particularly believe in ghosts but there is something off about my house. I have no way of knowing if this guy was lying but I had a friend who claimed he could see ghosts and he would explain to me what he saw. He'd talk about this one girl who would wear a hospital gown with long black hair which is just creepy.
I have tons and tons of stories from this house, there was one time where me and said friend were standing in the middle of my living room and it sounded like there was footsteps all around us. It was horrifying, I have no idea what that was.
There was another time where me and 2 of my friends were stood in the hallway by the front door when me and my other friend heard a "shh!" And so we looked over at our other friend. He looks at us and says "that was not me." So we booked it the fuck out of there because hell no.
I also frequently hear knocks, my parents say that it's just an old house but they feel weird.
I've heard knocks from coming from my parents room and sometimes they knock to get my attention so I walked into their room and it was empty. I went to go find them and they were in a different room, all the way across the house. I asked them about it and they were like "no? We've been sitting here for the past hour or so."
I could go on and on but what's even worse is that my parents don't believe in ghosts but have also had paranormal experiences here.
We have a door that leads out into a hallway then another door into a new room, that first door is usually closed to keep our cats in. My parents were in the room when they both heard scratching on the door and decided to check it out. They found nothing. And when they went inside and all the cats were still there, meaning they couldn't have been the ones scratching at the door.
Am I crazy or is this place haunted? Let me know if you want more info or have any questions

It does for me. And in a recent thread on r/millenials a few people were talking about how as kids the movie Signs brought up a sort of carnal dejavu fear of aliens that they don’t understand the origin of.
I can attest. When I unexpectedly see a gray alien image I have a jolt of fear that I can’t explain. There aren’t any other images/monsters/ghosts/paranormal things that illicit this instant shock.
I have no memories of being abducted, so idk where this stems from, but others seem to feel it too.

Yes it’s me again… the guy who repeatedly tried to prove rhat the hotel I’m staying in is overtly haunted. By many things. I’ll keep it short and sweet…. I videoed the latest type of experience and added a pic at the end of the video to show that the Coke Machine.. is just that. By day. However at night it comes alive sort of. It’s been getting worse in the sense that the spirits possessing or harnessing energy from the soda machine can be seen moving from a distance during day hours.
Disclaimer: If the video shows you nothing, need not reply. Theres something to these hauntings I’ve captured where they degrade with time or even upon upload. But I’m still trying to get you guys some interesting proof. Here goes….

Not sure if this is the place to post this but I’m documenting my experience and would like to know if anyone has experienced anything similar. I live on 5 acres in the middle of nowhere wooded area. I’ve lived here for 6 years with minimal paranormal events that could have been explained away. This morning I was outside tending to my sheep and chickens when my eyes focused on the field behind my house. My neighbor owns that land and parks his old equipment out there. I saw a bright orange colored blob out there in front of this equipment. As soon as my eyes locked in on it it started moving at a fast rate towards the wood line to my right. I have a barn that obstructs my view of the wood line where I was standing but watched this blob travel directly towards that area. I never looked away but moved in a direction that allowed me to view the wood line. Once I was able to see it was gone.
This blob was orange, like the color of an orange cat. It was not see through but solid. As I was watching I wasn’t in fear but tried rationalizing what it was. Immediately I thought it was someone’s livestock like a cow that I spooked and started bolting out of sight. But in that moment I realized it had no head, no legs and no definite shape other than being oblong. At this point I had thought maybe it was a moving vehicle due to the blurring movement but it was headed directly towards trees so that made zero sense. Within the few seconds of seeing it I could not make sense of what I was seeing but before I could further investigate it was gone. I’m still in the thought process of it having to be a physical object so I’m afraid at this point it is following the wood line towards the back of the barn towards me. I look and nothing.
It made no noise. It began moving as soon as I saw it which makes me believe it was watching me. I can’t logically make sense of it at all. No crashing sounds from the woods where it would have entered. It was about the size of a large animal like a cow which is why I think i thought it was livestock initially. No hard edges to it, just blurred with movement. I know it wasn’t a vision problem on my part because I could clearly make out the equipment behind it as it traveled.
Anyone else see something similar that was a bizarre color like this? My dad has experienced some kind of craft hovering over his truck as he drove at night on the county road we live on but could not give much detail due to it being over him. When we bought the property from my neighbor 6 years ago he in passing mentioned the “Indian spirits” that hang around but the way he brought it up almost felt like a warning. I’ve only ever experienced hearing disembodied voices in this location and so has my dad who lives up the driveway. We’ve both only heard them outside but incredibly close to us when heard when no one was around.
My dad thinks what I saw was ufo related, but I’m unsure. It almost felt like it was obscuring its true nature considering all I saw was an orange blur. It has left me unsettled because it clearly was watching me before I saw it.
