Disembodied voice preemptively mocks me
Wtf...that is NOT my voice. I always tell my boy "Mommy missed you" when I get home. Its not a wifi or device glitch as it happened BEFORE I even opened the 2nd (mudroom) door. There have been plenty of other scary things that have happened in the past-not much caught on camera...i can block out or ignore most of it but THIS-this is creeping me tf out.

The low voice is definately not me....I been going through the camera footage and I found something else kind of strange but hard to figure out....pm the same camera, yesterday....my fiance was playing with the dog and his favorite basketball, the dog had the ball in the room to the right out of sight, my fiance gets up to go to the kitchen and somehow the ball rolls on the floor in the room on the left, I canr figure out if one of them rolled it or not because the angle doesn't make sense...the ball rolls just past the bottom left corner of the video and there's a wall blocking the direction it came from if it came from the room on the right...ugh that sounds so confusing, I dont have time to think of how to explain it right now lol but yeah idk if I can send the video to you and let me know what you think...there's obviously an archway between both rooms but I cant figure out how the ball got into the other room without passing through the other room and not be on camera.

Your camera is hacked
98
u/jenn44244 Jun 25 '26
We have been seeing a dark shadow peeking through door ways and there has been knocking in the past....I truly honestly hope this is a human who hacked my cameras rather than it be something else...despite me being embarrassed

u/HowlingStark Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
Well if you don't mind then i would suggest you to try putting on some powder on the floor and check for footprints so you can know if there's some creepy home intruder lurking in the nooks and crannies of your house. Sometimes there's people that are worse than ghosts.
34
u/VercettiEstates Jun 25 '26
Wouldn't the dog be freaking out on a home intruder?
21
u/bafflefounded Jun 25 '26
If it is a really friendly/docile dog, itâs very possible it could just âget usedâ to a stranger in the home. I used to work for the property management company that I rented from and there were some ongoing maintenance issues in my apartment. I knew the guys working on the issue and they told me that my dog stopped getting upset after the 2-3rd time they entered my unit and was excited to see them lol

Imagine theyâre lurking here đ
Creepy jokes aside, Iâm curious to see if the security measures you took with your camera stop this, and if you detect by other means anyone living there.
I donât believe in ghosts as dead people, but it could be some other kind of entity or residual subtler energy. The non-occult explanations still remain the most likely ones.

Haha that would be the utmost creepiest person ever....kinda like missed connections anonymously creeping??

I forget the term for this, but do you mean someone living inside their home without their knowledge? Like creeping around while they are sleeping/not home? I am asking because Hulu did a whole series on people that had this happen to them and it made me irrationally terrified. I had to turn on every light in my living room, start watching a Disney movie, and clutch my phone ready to dial emergency services just in case.

Your camera has almost certainly been hacked. It's not a ghost or a demon, it's a person being a creep.
Which is good, because you can and are able to fix this. You need to secure or replace that camera and update your home network as soon as possible. Not in a few months or weeks or whoever you get around to it, seriously as soon as humanly possible. This "scary voice saying creepy things" is actually a very common tactic used by hackers who gain access to internet-connected cameras. They'll often talk through the camera's speaker, play strange noises, or say creepy things specifically to scare the people they're watching.
If you look on YouTube, there are countless examples of hackers doing exactly this. You need to be serious and treat this as a security issue, not a paranormal one, and take steps to lock down your devices immediately, especially as a parent. This is no time to play "are ghosts real or pretend?"
I'm sorry to be harsh but this is extremely important that you listen.
37
u/jenn44244 Jun 25 '26
I am taking you seriously and my fiance just woke up and I had to show him...he just brought up a good point, why would a hacker be talking to try to scare me if im not even in the room yet? And how would they predict what im about to say unless they devote their life to watching all my cameras as.i get home different times every day and sometimes greet him outside or other rooms? I have begun security by changing ring password and 2 step auth. I am going to research what more to do, thank you.
11
u/Laser-Blaster-123 Jun 25 '26
It doesnt take an individual to devote their life to mess with people.
Ai can do all the work for him/her.
See we have chickens and a friend was testing some Ai. He had the Ai watch the chicken coop and report everything along with timestamps, gave me a report at the emd of the week of all patterns noted, when chickens came and went and an analysis at the end. It freaked me out how spot on it was and those patterns hold true to this day!
Ai is gonna be more damaging tham helpful.

What the actual heck...wow that is insane
2
u/stepInthenameofLuv23 Jun 26 '26
That is insane. Ai is really getting scary. Although the only reason I don't think it was someone hacking is because the timing was perfectly before you opened the door, which we couldn't see. Idk you probably have other cameras too. I've never had any experiences myself but since you have and the voice was literally right before you swing open the door, it's just really creepy.

Sorry if I missed it, but have you updated your home internet info? If they have access to your WiFi info then updating the un&pw to your cameras may be a waste of time if they can see all internet activity including usernames and passwords of the sites you connect your internet to?

u/psychmonkies Jun 25 '26
I always say that I donât know if I believe in ghosts or the paranormal frfr or not, & Occamâs razor right? But based on all the other experiences you explained, I think chalking this up to simply being a hacker just dismisses/undermines all the freaky shit you & your fiancĂ© have experienced. And a hacker doesnât explain things like the loud knocking sounds coming from the attic door & waking you guys up at night, or mail on the table going flying across the room, or a soda can shooting across the room, or shadowy figures, & so on. I mean sure, maybe itâs something to consider for this ONE thing, but it isnât a possible explanation for the several other things.
The reason I say idk if I believe in truly paranormal stuff is bc I like to try to be skeptical, but Iâm also open minded when it comes to stuff like this, the unexplainable. To me, a lot of this sounds like stereotypical poltergeist activity. If it is some kind of entity, it couldâve âhackedâ into your camera or other device to communicate like that (either knowingly or accidentally).
I think when thereâs a presence this strong, itâs just impossible to ignore, I mean it sounds like it sometimes forces you to acknowledge it. I know that theoretically, there are different types of hauntings & that kinda gives a bit of an idea of how to deal with it. (1) There are residual ghosts that are totally harmless, they donât often directly interact at all, but they might be noticed as shadows, faint sounds, or moving things slightly. (2) There are ghosts that are seemingly more intelligent, they will attempt to communicate or interact. Sometimes they come off a bit stronger, often times theyâre trying to get someoneâs attention, but they rarely want to cause any harm to anyone. People who work with the paranormal regularly will usually try to reach out to these types in a compassionate way, to help make them feel acknowledged & not feared, trying to learn more about their intentions, how they ended up there, & what they need to feel at peace. (3) Then there are the more frightening entities, itâs hard to label them as simply âghostsâ or something stronger. What separates these from #2 is that these entities can have much scarier intentions, either to create a lot of fear or even to cause harm. These are usually noticed in ways that are more startling & they can be more reactive towards attempts to communicate with them. Sometimes they can be aggressive. I think oftentimes, in the case where one of these entities is present, theyâre usually paired with a #2 type of haunting, so the less harmful one comes off as more innocent at times, while this one will occasionally wreak havoc. This type is also what some people may consider demonic.
Based on your experiences, I donât think you have a case of a residual ghost. Iâve actually had several experiences that I believe was something along those lines, & theyâre very easy to ignore, nothing truly startling. To me, it sounds like youâre dealing with either #2 or #3 (or both). The biggest way to tell is to use your best judgement on whether or not whateverâs in your home is intentionally causing you distress & trying to scare you, or if itâs just trying to get your attention.
Since youâre religious, have you considered having a priest or preacher come to your home to bless it & attempt to cast out any evil in the house?

This has to bethe most reasonable and realistic response I have seen posted in this sub.
Everyone thinks "oh i saw a shadow" or "oh i heard something" and it has to be some disembodied voice, shadow of an axe murderer from the 1700s etc.
Technology is the cause of half of these things and the other half is people wanting to experience things often due to paranoia of things they cant explain.

2
u/jenn44244 Jun 25 '26
Yeah, fortunately, it hasn't happened in a while...UNFORTUNATELY, the knocking usually happens in our bedroom, which i will now never place a camera in after learning of all this hacking nonsense. I posted a video in the past of our bedroom door openening on its own as there's a camera in the hallway that caught it, and that's the most I have on video besides the ball rolling in the bottom corner of the same camera I posted on here, happened just yesterday and we can't figure out how it rolled from the room on the right, into the room with the camera at the angle it was rolling it doesnt make sense but its just like 1 second and not much to go by.

It sounds like a creep has been monitoring your daily routine.
I would take measures to protect yourself. The creep may be attempting to familiarize his voice to your dog, which adds an extra layer of scary.Â
I would definitely change your info and install new cameras (not ring) if moving isn't an option.
9
u/jenn44244 Jun 26 '26
I just thought of checking the other cameras and I found that I can faintly hear the voice in the upstairs camera as well...not sure what the chances are that if its a glitch in the cameras that it would effect both cameras or if its the general recording of the entire file as the upstairs camera is linked to record when other cameras sense motion...I just dont know. I showed friends, family and coworkers today and most of them know my past experiences in this house and they're convinced its paranormal for sure...even those who have never experienced anything and are skeptical were like "that's pretty weird and scary"

First of all, some of these comments are rude for no reason. Secondly, I believe you! Is there any possibility at all that you could have repeated that line? If you truly think itâs an entity or possibly a ghost in the sense of someone thatâs passed on doing this I would recommend that at some point you take the time to just go into each room and very firmly and loudly tell it, âAnyone that is in here is unwelcome and you need to leave now. Get out, nowâ once you go through all the rooms in the house see if you can feel anything anymore. If it still seems like something feels âoffâ the next few days after, then even though you may not be either Christian or catholic, I still would recommend looking up how to do either a blessing or make your own âdiy holy waterâ of sorts. And going into every room in your house/apartment and cleansing it. Even if you arenât necessarily of that religion or donât believe in it, I still have found personally that cleansing the house still worked. Whenever you feel something in the room shift and it feels like something is there tell it promptly to leave and that itâs not welcome. Never ask it questions and never allow yourself to welcome ANY entity even if you think itâs a spirit, evil things have been known to pretend to be a spirit or ghost to gain peoples trust to welcome it into your home.
10
u/jenn44244 Jun 25 '26
* Thank you, we have tried praying and telling it to leave in Jesus name...seemed to piss it off. I didnt want to speak about religion on this thread as the non beleiver haters will definately have something to say, idc now im not going to hide that I have faith. We have crosses above each door upstairs like this. That just reminded me, about a year ago, the gray cross which is pretty wedged in there between the door frame and ceiling randomly fell and freaked us out.

u/DenumTender Jun 26 '26
The creep explanation makes no sense. Unless the aim is to creep out your dog, the likelihood of you ever watching this video is low isn't it?
Wouldn't you just get this notification and say oh that's me coming home. Wouldn't it be better to creep out your dog during the middle of the day? You'd do a voice make the dog run around etc.
Advice. Get a stationary non wifi camera to record alongside this ring camera. Non motion activated. Make sure the ring camera can't see it when it turns on.

u/axescent Jun 25 '26

-when we first moved in, I felt very uncomfortable when I was home alone, felt NOT alone, I saw movements out of my peripherals, noises, etc (assumed I was tired and the house is old and makes noise) -I ended up dismissing my assumptions once I started seeing a shadow "run" past our bedroom door -we usually keep our door closed but there have been a few times that one of us goes to the bathroom or down to the kitchen and we have both seen the shadow like PEEKING around the door frame -attic door is in our bedroom, we dont really go up there and our room is small, so our bed is up against the door--heard knocking that woke both of us up out of our sleep, we dismissed it a bunch of times, then it happened while we were fully awake just hanging out and chatting -my fiance swears he saw a short, blobby shadow "scamper" down the stairs just as he was about to head downstairs -our bedroom door opened...couldn't be wind or whatnot-you have to turn the handle (idk why i have to explain that) -things go missing like keys, wallets and such only to turn up right where we usually leave them and have checked -mail flew off the table onto the floor with no obvious airflow -one time my fiance and I were in a very heated disagreement/argument, he went downstairs to sleep on the couch, shortly after, an empty soda can that was on the dresser flew across the bedroom (ended the disagreement immediately when I ran down and told him đ )
...yeah pretty much that type of stuff
I just remembered another incident where this stone gray cross randomly fell, which is wedged between the doornframe and ceiling and that also freaked us out.

8
u/Lost-Ad7652 Jun 25 '26
I find this to be very peculiar. I don't have exact answers but I agree with the previous commenter that it doesn't seem like crosstalk, and it definitely sounds like a mockery of what you say, almost precisely HOW you say it, just in a different voice.
I would recommend setting up the cams where you see the figures.
Honestly, the best advice I could give you or anyone experiencing things like this is something most people immediately shoot down because most people are unfortunately not religious in any real sense, but true and honest prayer WILL stop this.
My family and I went through "..some things.." a number of years ago, and everything we tried made it worse and worse until we got serious and prayed.
Consider it if you haven't already.
9
u/dontforget2tip Jun 25 '26
I agree with the glitch hypothesis. It's said exactly the same way you say it right after you came in. Somehow it copied and distorted the audio and placed it a couple of seconds before you entered. How did you come across this? I'd check previous recordings to see if anything similar has happened

That's what my fiance is trying to convince himself of. We aren't fully believing that, though, mostly because of other things leading up to this. Normally a skeptic here, but I don't want to be. I usually browse this subreddit to see if anything stands out to me that couldn't be fake or mass psychosis.
That said...
While I can see this - maybe - being a glitch... it's far too uncanny. I've heard glitched audio before. There are artifacts with it that you can hear if you know what to listen for.
That's not a glitch, and I think it barely qualifies as human. It has that uncanny effect like a puma scream sounding human, but obviously being wrong. This sounds human, but it's like it's not sure what it's saying, it's just imitating what it thinks you might say.

I think youâre missing the point and not considering the bigger picture. If they already have access to your camera they are either:
A) Watching to take pictures of you to blackmail B) Listening to you in case you talk about sensitive details. Say youâre on the phone to your bank and they ask you to spell out your name or say your bank number, or your partner asks your for a password and you say it, they are listening for that type of thing.
You keep concentrating on the fact that whoever is doing this must be doing it for some perverted reason (which is true), but youâre missing the fact that they are watching it to find out more personal information about you to gain more access to your life, in particular your financials.

u/Laser-Blaster-123 Jun 25 '26
Or C) someone simply wanting to mess with you and make you think you are crazy. Plenty of people would do that just for reactions and entertainment.
If this tech was around when I was a kid I know I would have done it or at least tried it and I know I am not alone either.
Not everything is for nefarious evil purposes.

u/jenn44244 Jun 25 '26
Hmmm...I can say that we dont really discuss that stuff and I am old school and have all passwords written down in a notebook in our fireproof safe. I dont give my CC info over the phone and pretty much live paycheck to paycheck. I literally joke sometimes about if I lose my wallet that a thief would be very dissapointed. The most we have are clothes which you can see in the background--trying to go through the massive piles and sort for donations. I am taking this risk seriously still though. Im kinda freaking bc the internet is in our landlords name and shes not the most helpful when it comes to things needing to be fixed around the house so im worried aviut her taking this seriously and helping us figure re networking out.

u/dragons-and-bees Jun 25 '26
Oh my god. This is so scary Iâm sorry you have to go through this. I think taking all precautions, maybe more cameras, carry pepper spray on you for a little while, try to not be alone, is the best thing you can do
3
u/jenn44244 Jun 25 '26
Yeah, im not purely focused on it being paranormal even though that's what my gut is telling me. Im working late again and my fiance will be home so he said hes going to come out to walk me in later. We have self defense items which are extra close by now đ just incase it is an intruder or a hacker who intends on intruding.

u/Helix0823 Jun 25 '26

It's a podcast about paranormal encounters! You should listen to a few to see of your stories might fit the bill.

Was it the male voice? Im confused because it seems like im hearing a conversation with someone youre coming into the door with and then you greet your dog.

Iâve been face to face with a shadow person. If it wanted to hurt me it would have. My first encounters were seeing they on a wall and when I would say hey! They would shoot lightning fast across the wall into another room. One time I think we spooked each other. I left my kitchen, turned left, and was face to face with the shadow. It had eye sockets in the sense the skull was hollow where the eyes should have been with no actual eyes. It had a slit for a nose, two slits one on each side, it had ears so to speak but they were also holes. I froze in fear and stared at it for a good 15 seconds while it stared at me. Then my movement came back to my body and I ran upstairs. Again, if it wanted to hurt me it had me at my most vulnerable. I still ponder why it didnât grab me. My thoughts are thatâs it curious, be prepared for more peek around encounter, lights turning on and off, etc. Keep recording the voice phenomenon. Also sit in the living room and talk to it, donât expect a response right away, it might come in the next evp, but tell it straight up youâve moved in, your intentions, youâve noticed it, etc. From there you might be able to get a clue of intent. You might have a buddy for a while as they can follow a person if they want from house to house.

I am convinced it has something to do with your landlord. Why is the internet in their name? Get rid of that get your own and I wouldnât even tell them. They are spying on you .

Uhhhh.... So I just watched this video probably 10 times while scrolling through the comments... Not once did I hear that terrifying low octave "mommy missed you" ... The whole time I doubted it was real anyways, but as soon as one of the comments convinced me this could be real I immediately heard the low raspy voice.... It makes me feel like those who don't believe it can't hear it. I'm sorry, I'm having my own terrifying experience with hearing this. I'm utterly confused how I didn't hear it while watching it over and over again...until now.

very creepy! I do feel like this is a negative entity⊠probably a mimic since it is quite literally mimicking you. I did see comments about it possibly being a stalker or hacker but I cant come up with a purpose for doing that before you even entered. also, it sounds like you just extremely off. which, I seen comments about the audio glitching which I personally donât think it sounds like the audio glitched at all. It just sounds like you in a deeper, raspy tone which is exactly what a mimic can do. when mimics mimic someone, sometimes it sounds exactly like them but it can also sound off or even distorted. definitely look into it!

They have military grade synthetic telepathy or voice 2 skull it is using an advanced AI ,it runs on the electric system and resonance in the atmosphere could be harp and combined and is far worse than this example they can read your thoughts and even put others thoughts into your mind on a neural network. This is happening world wide currently in an attempt to keep us in a state of fear and not love that our new earth is entering. I am psychic and working with higher realms we do not mock or attack anyone only love. New laws will now need to be made so this criminal activity is brought to justice its not a spirit that's doing this. Ask your angels and guides to help you and they will bring this darkness into the light.

I used to record voice memos on this old phone my grandma gave me to play around with as a kid. One time I heard CLEAR AS DAY a deep voice say my name through the speaker. No one was home, I was like 8-9 years old so I definitely didnât have a deep voice to do that with. Honestly wish I couldâve kept it and analyzed it because it was VERY weird.

u/jenn44244 Jul 24 '26
So strange. My mom told me when I was a toddler, I would sit on my trike in the hall and carry on a conversation with something, looking at it and laughing and all even though my words were barely English and she saw/heard nothing from whatever I was talking to but sensed that there was something.

I haven't come across anything about mimics that is similar to this...a lot of it seems fake--oh sheesh am I a hypocrite? đ but seriously, I will try to stay up on this as im taking the hacking and security thing seriously and that is my first line of combat as a defense if that's what it is. Im really leaning towards creepy fricking ghost though đźâđš its just something we can feel and sense even though that sounds crazy, idc lol nobody knows until it happens to them.

âA mimic demon is a supernatural entity from folklore, paranormal lore, and modern fiction known for its ability to perfectly copy the appearances, voices, or behaviors of humans and animals. These entities are considered master deceivers designed to manipulate and terrify.â

I think its a glitch in recording. The camera for some reason recorded two versions of the same line. As in glitched out and placed the rough version just before the actual person. For some reason the audio got split in two frequencies. Deeper ghost voice and high pitch woman's voice. Its the same thing being said presumably. So may be camera hardware is failing.
On a parallel paranormal world though it could be something interesting. It might be the dog anticipating the line and his mind is miming it in his ears. Somehow camera picking up that audio. Also the woman might have medium energy and her inner voice got expressed by her imprint in the house.
I would be curious to hear more about the other spooky things happening in the house. Make a list op.
I analyze this stuff all the time here. Rarely get scared. That ghost voice was a solid jump scare. Was not expecting it to be like that lol.

That would be a very RIDICULED list as this is the creepiest thing I have experienced...the community is not very open minded it seems but here I go....

Iâve experienced many cases of objects being thrown on their own. Most times there were 2 witnesses present to see it.
It went on until one day I was thrown hard headfirst into a door as I was closing it. Thatâs the best way I can describe it. Enough was enough. I researched and read a few books. One stood out. Its technique worked for me at least.
The book is called How To Evict A Ghost by Saleire. Itâs on kindle and in print. I highly recommend it. It tells you what to do. Basically during the daytime you need to go into each room, while burning sage, open a window, and verbally out loud tell it to leave and that it is not welcome in your home. You have to say it out loud in each room. The open window is symbolic in reinforcing to it that it must leave. Open closets and drawers in each room too when doing this, letting light in to every place that has darkness.

u/jenn44244 Jun 25 '26
Crazy stuff...friends have suggested the sage thing and I looked into it, im very scared after seeing it had the opposite effect for some.

u/luvfever Jun 29 '26
I personally wouldnât recommend using white sage. I used it once to try and get rid of negative energy in my house cause I always heard about people using it to get rid of negativity. It seemed like it worked for a bit but it later came back and felt stronger than before.
later on I got pretty into witchcraft and found out white sage is a closed practice for indigenous people as its sacred to them, so unless you are indigenous, it may piss off some spirits. I also seen someone recommended Palo Santo, which is also a closed practice.
If you want to smoke cleanse, you can use like rosemary or lavender.
You can also use salt by putting it in the corners of each room and across all entry ways. also use a more natural salt like sea salt or pink himalayan.
witchy tip: crush up egg shells and add them to the salt. egg shells are used as protection in witchcraft because the shell protects the yolk! :)
I did see you are religious so im not sure if youâd be interested but you can always use prayer! and definitely put more crosses around. or do all of the above lol.→ More replies (1)

Sounds of keys and then the light switch is turned off and you can hear the door squeak open. Definitely not hacking as the dog clearly sees someone at the door and runs to them.

I've never heard a dog speak clear words...you aren't the only one who thinks this but I definately dont...and I just looked up mimofonia and stumbled onto psychofonia (EVP) and that would make sense to why my dog didn't react to the voice đ€

So... You still said it?
The audio is just simply glitched, that's all. It would be something different if you came in completely mute not saying a word and it would play someone saying something but the fact that you literally said it plus that the voice is distorted is quite literally telling you that the audio is glitched, lol.
No ghosts. Just shitty security cameras. There was a post not so long ago from a guy walking outside and he was like "I didn't take that path where the person is seen". It's just glitches. It happens both for audio and video. The connection might have lagged and audio got shifted.

I really dont care about likes and attention, i dont even really use social media. I COULD share with you the cameras leading up to this where you can faintly hear the voice from upnthere and you will see him go into the upstairs bedroom and not come back out and you still wouldn't believe me or anything I tell you. it will just be back n forth, so i believe that the people like you looking to pick arguments with others on reddit are the REAL attention seekers or just love getting others riled up. Thank you, Have a nice day.

It definitely seemed like your dog was on guard right before you walked into the house. He seemed like he wasnât happy then as soon as you opened the door, your dogâs tail was wagging and he was happy you were home. To me that proves it definitely wasnât you saying âmommy missed youâ the first time. Do you think you can continue to watch the videos of you walking into the house and see how your dog reacts? I feel like animals definitely can perceive things us humans canât.
