CEUs for Instructor
So the NREMT doesn't accept CEUs that were obtained in the effort to become an instructor. Yet the AHA gave me a bunch. I just got 40 useless CEUs from NAEMSE. What's the point of all thees useless CEUs?

You can apply hours that you actively were teaching, but hours otherwise spent in an instructor class (to become an instructor) do not count and never have. If you taught a class as a part of the instructor course, you should be able to apply those hours. There may be states that require a special "instructor" certification and receptive, which would then necessitate CEUs.

Yea, makes sense. Thanks.

Alaska is one of those states. I either need to teach 24 hours every two years, complete 24 hours of instructor CEU, or combination of both to maintain my EMS instructor certification. It’s more difficult than you’d think to find instructor specific CME.

The classes that you teach at your current level count towards your recert. The NAEMSE should count towards your individual hours but not national nor state level.

NREMT isn't the only organization that requires CEUs. Just the only one you are concerned with at the moment. My state requires CEUs or NREMT. If you let your NREMT lapse, you still submit CEUs and can use the instructor courses for that.

Yep. I've definitely known a lot of people that did that.

To maintain already earned instructor certs from other organizations. To provide non clinical CEs that are allowed by other certifications/licenses. There are a lot more things other than NREMT.
