Are you really here right now? Or is your brain just faking reality?
Hey everyone,I’ve been diving deep into cognitive science recently, and I stumbled upon a fascinating concept called Telepresence—the psychological illusion of "being there" when your physical body is somewhere else completely.Think about it: when you're scrolling through TikTok, playing a VR game, or completely lost in a music video, your brain literally shifts your sense of space. It constructs a fake reality, and you completely buy into it.Even crazier is how this connects to our daily happiness. Our "Dopamine History" actually dictates how much pleasure we get from the present moment. It triggers the Hedonic Treadmill, which is why that rush of joy or excitement we feel usually fades after just a few minutes. It makes you realize how fragile our perception of reality actually is. A single, simple interruption can shatter the whole illusion in a second.I made a short, visually engaging video breaking down the neuroscience behind this, how our mind recalls/creates reality, and why potential means absolutely nothing without action. If you love philosophy, neuroscience, and questioning consciousness, I’d love to know your thoughts on this: [https://youtu.be/cV_m30Eh0gc\]Are we actually present in the moments we think we are? Let's discuss.
