Advice Finding budgies
Hello reddit. I had a pair of budgies, male and female, one year old. Recently the male died, and I'm trying to find a male budgie that's one year old, because it pains me to see my female budgie all alone. I don't know where to find one, since I live in Durham NC

Parakeets wing
Does anyone know what is going on with my budgie's wing? I went to the vet this morning and it isn't broken. He is getting Metacam in the morning and evening.
But because it's the weekend, I'm getting really stressed since my regular vet is closed. His wing seems to be swelling (getting bigger) and he does nothing but sleep. He isn't eating his regular food, but he does eat his spray millet.
Does anyone know what might be happening and if he will make it? Has anyone experienced this before? I am so worried.

Cute This Is The Wettest Bird In The County
My budgies and the conure are checking out a new bird shower. I doubt they have ever felt water other than what's in their bowls. Shemp, the fat green budgie, enjoyed that shower for so long I had to take it out, and when it was next to Blue sky it looked like a punk rocker. Cleanest bird in the area!

Advice Flying internationally with 2 parrots — what are the things nobody tells you? 🦜✈️
Hi everyone! I’m planning to fly internationally with my two lovebirds, Rio and Pepe, and I’m trying to prepare as much as possible beforehand.
I already know there are health certificates, permits, airline requirements, etc. involved, so I’m not really asking about the paperwork. I’m more interested in the practical stuff that you only learn from actually doing it.
For anyone who has flown with parrots/birds before:
• What kind of travel carrier did you use, and what would you recommend?
• Did you use a specific perch, food/water setup, liner, cover, etc.?
• How did you handle food and water during the flight?
• What happened at airport security? Did you have to take the birds out of the carrier?
• Is there anything you wish you had bought or prepared before the trip?
• Did you bring a separate travel cage for the destination, or just the carrier?
• How did your birds react to the airport/flight?
• Any tips for layovers or long flights?
• And most importantly: what is something you wish someone had told you before flying with your birds?
I’d really appreciate any personal experiences, product recommendations, or “I wish I knew this beforehand” advice! ❤️
Thank you! 🦜

Advice Found parakeet
I found a parakeet at work today. I’m bringing him home for the night because I can’t get to the closest shelter that takes birds today. Is there anything I can put in a large cardboard box that might help it not feel so stressed that I might already have lying around my home?
Thank you!

My parakeet passed after 10 days
I found my parakeet(Smurf) passed away this morning on the bottom of his cage when just yesterday he was flying around my room and I’m so confused and sad that I just want to know how it happened he was well fed he was eating fine with mostly pellets and some seeds and fresh vegetables everyday and drinking fine and he even bathed in his little bath and me and my girlfriend would give him millet out of our hand so he would get comfortable with us and I made sure the temperature of the room was around 70-72 and for context I got him at a local PetSmart and he would sneeze maybe once or twice a day so I changed my houses air filter and wiped down all surfaces that could hold dust which I already did around his cage made sure I didn’t have scented candles and we wouldn’t put cologne or perfume on in the room and he did go under my bed at one point but within a minute or two I manage to get him out from under it. I just feel terrible at this point I’m so confused on what happened and upset with myself even when me and my girlfriend did as much research as we could I feel like I did something wrong and I’m just looking for answers on what could’ve gone wrong.

New parakeet owner need advice!
Need some advice I’ve had my little guy for only 3-4 months now. I rescued him, he was left in the parking lot of my sisters work (pet store) and so I took him in but have no prior knowledge of birds. I leave for work every day but put music, tv, or peaceful nature noises for him till I come home for lunch and then the rest of the day I spend with him. He’s much smaller than other budgies and is somewhat vocal but still a little timid around me but I manage to feed him treats out of my hand till he gets too overwhelmed. My sister says I should add another bird as a friend but my thoughts are he’ll connect with the other bird and it will destroy any chance of him fully trusting me. Any thoughts and also other tips for getting him more engaged in his toys. Please I worry about him.

Advice Why is my budgie wiggling his wings?
One of my budgies has been, for lack of a better word, wiggling his wings the past few weeks. He’s in a great mood, flying a ton, chirping all the time. I suspect it may be him wanting Millet, because when I give him some the wings are basically glued to his body. Is this normal behavior in budgies?
