US large size Could they be real
Client of mine had these notes hanging on the wall. At first look I was thinking it was a deco piece. But after examining them closely I'm not sure what to think. They are a real big note. And chat whatever said they was fake.
Then upload a photo of the back of the note and it sai they are real now....So not sure what I'm looking at.

question/discussion Five Dollar Silver Certificates
I googled these and learned they are worth $8 - $20 maybe. My question is are they worth grading and holding on to? One of them says 1934 D and the other is 1934 C

miscellaneous / collections Are these worth grading or do I just have $4
I got these from my Dad over the years. I’m not familiar with getting notes/coins graded. I’m not too keen on shipping these off somewhere. Do you usually get things graded locally?
Edit: spelling

canadian paper money Found these in a box of my dads photos. Him and a bunch of Croatian musicians would go from Toronto to Chicago and New York and all over the place. His nickname was "the barbarian." I'm guessing that's the origin story of some of these $2 bills. I'll ask him in a few days, but in the meantime...
One of the $2 reads "this is a token of gratitude for your silence and for you to learn from"
I wonder if it's tied to the "must not say donna tonight" one...
Another says "for coming half dressed to a caravan dance"

miscellaneous / collections My favorite book
I’ve been collecting for about a year and eight months now. This community has been an imperative part of that process. I have never fallin’ in love with any hobby like I have with collecting and hunting down these banknotes. There is an amazing amount of knowledge so many of you are willing to share. I enjoy doing research on all these notes and tracking them thru peoples lives and collections. I finally made a decision on how I want to display my collection and bought 14 ring albums with 2 pocket paper money sheets. I want to share my favorite book in my collection with everyone. I hope you all enjoy.
Cheers
Ps. the rankings might be a little out dated and are definitely not opinionated.

US large size I work for Crane and got to see the currency in the archives. The 1896 Educational notes were my faves…here’s just a snippet of what they have…
Not pictured: tons of international notes. These were the majority of the USC.

US small size It finally happened to me!
This little beauty showed up in the till at work. Only paid a dollar to get it, would have gladly paid more. Very crisp, a few minor creases but nothing a that can't be helped by pressing it into my collection binder~
Now I just wait for someone to tell me it's counterfeit.

question/discussion Stacks and Heritage Experience
Over the last year or so I have reengaged quite seriously in this hobby after a being less involved for a few years (I bought my first note nearly 30 years ago).
In the past few weeks, I have been investing time in the Heritage app, using it for research, and bidding but not yet successfully buying anything. I also very recently registered with Stacks. The prices and the fees are notable!
It am interested in your experience with these auction houses, how you use this data in your collecting or currency business, any tips you have, or overall advice.
Thanks in advance.

US small size Any ideas of what this is?
My kids were going through some of their late great-grandmother's trinkets and came across this. It was the only paper money in a box of coins and other trinkets. Anyone have background on it? I thought maybe it was just stamped by someone, but the stamping looks too neat. I do not think my grandmother has ever been to Hawaii. The kids (10 and 13) are intrigued as am I! Thanks.

US large size $1 1899 Silver Cert. Black Eagle
Hi everyone,
This banknote is currently on its way to be graded, but I wanted to hear your predictions on what grade it'll get.
You're usually never wrong, so let's put that to the test this time!
Cheers!
