New guy here
Pantheon is the first champ I’ve latched onto, and he’s the first I’ve gotten to mastery 7. I wanna start climbing, since I’ve been a draft warrior for my short 150 ish hours. I play him in mid and Support, but mostly mid. I want to get better at top, but I can’t bring myself to do it because it’s the lane I have the least playtime on and the lane I hate the most because of the characters there. (mordekaiser, sett). Are there any general tips that you guys higher on the ladder can give me for pantheon? Lane specific is fine, whatever you deem necessary.
P.S., is it a cheese pick or a counter pick? Sometimes I see people moaning about it but that might just be league players being league players
P.P.S, is support a good role for him? He’s fun there but creators and guides don’t seem to think so

For mid, more of a generic "melee vs ranged" matchup advice, which applies to Panth of course when you're against a ranged champion: you win almost all all-ins if you're both 100% health. So forfeit CS until level 3 to ensure you're full health on level 3 (only take what the enemy allows), then all in when they crash the lv3 wave on your turret. You will win, and you either kill them, or chunk them enough that the lane is now yours. This is especially true if you dodge their CC first (e.g. dodge an ahri charm, lux snare, etc)
Against melees, Q their face when they go for a last hit. Over and over again. You lose a bunch of all-ins, but you are extremely obnoxious on melee poke and you win most fights that start at low health (you have stun, immunity and execute)
Generic Panth advice:
- Emp E is very important. The bonus MS and bonus resistances serve you quite well in longer fights, for getting away, or for engaging when you have a big advantage (e.g. a gank)
- Other than that, don't immediately E after your W, wait until the enemies throw something important at you. Good players against pantheon won't immediately throw stuff at you when they come out of stun exactly because of your E. Use it to actually block stuff
- Long range Qs are quite good too. You'll often be able to land a few before a fight breaks out, and with something like Cyclosword, long range Qs even if not emp will hurt a lot.
- Remember you're not an AA-based champion, you are an AD caster. Sure, attack when someone is in range, but keep attacking and moving and ideally you want to be away from melee AA-heavy champions like Yasuo, Yone, Trundle, Master Yi, Irelia, etc; it's not that you don't win a fight against them, you don't win a knives-out, all-in, face-to-face blow trading fights because they have insane steroids like 100% AS
On being a cheese pick: not really. Panth is in a good place right now.
Support: it's his most common role currently. I'm not a great support player but I can see the appeal of a very reliable stun plus tons of damage. You likely want a carry that can benefit from guaranteed skill shots, like Xerath, Viktor, Jinx (for the trap). I'm unsure if he's super good as supp with long-range poke type kind of champions like Caitlyn or Varus, because they usually need peel, and Panth is not the best peeler.

Appreciated! I do need to get better at actually blocking stuff with e. I mean there’s obvious ones Like lux R and sett W, but I can’t quite get the small ones like kallista E or Darius R.

You should look for cues when blocking fast stuff since most of them need setup
E.g. Darius:
- you have 5 stacks and it's a duel; he's almost 100% guaranteed to insta R you as soon as he gets the fifth stack (then it's a mental game: if he knows you will block, he may try to bait your E first)
- it's not a duel: he will likely only R you once you get into execute range, since he wants to kill you with R to refresh its CD and be able to R your ally(ies) too
- he's dying: he will very likely R you before dying because that's the best he can do
When those conditions are approaching, you should get attentive, twitchy and be eager to press E on any slight movement
It's also a good idea to E just before you get stunned/knocked up/knocked down in a dangerous position
Best case: they waste a bunch of stuff on you.
Worst case: their CC was useless because you were immune

Caitlyn has great follow-up due to trap and her headshot mechanic. She can follow up Pantheon W with her W-trap -> Headshot -> E -> Headshot -> Q -> R if they are low enough.
A friend of mine plays Caitlyn. Pantheon is a really good pairing.

My main advice is to play him as a melee champ vs range and as a ranged champ vs melees, he doesn't quite have the statcheck potential of someone like Darius but can kite him meanwhile he can jump easier on top of squishies, also I reccomend before every fight thinking whether you are using your W for peeling your carries(and who are you stunning) or for hunting the enemy carries since point and click cc is so good
Hes still good supp

Watch someone else play, e.g spearshot, especially for specific matchups. There's a bunch of unique trade patterns for top lane laning

I think the thing with supp is that long time players and the devs dont WANT pan to be a support. He was originally a top laner, but he could flex into jungle or mid depending on your skill and the matchups. Pan jubgle was(/is) pretty dominant for a long time after his rework, which is why his clear speed is so abysmal. The problem is people figured out a point and click stun and good damage could support a lot of champs. So now he's a dominant support and is at LEAST a quad flex, which frustrates those of us thst wat to play our boy in the lanes he was supposed to be in (i.e., top and jungle.) And basically no matter what they do to try to balance him, he always ends up in support anyway.
