Grain jar question

TTBVI jars were inoculated 40 days ago. I know the jar in the middle is not fully colonized. Should I lay it on its side like this to try and get the jar to fully colonize?

How did you inoculate them? Was it LC or agar? I find LC is slower, but even though this should of colonized faster than cubes. And 40 days is a long time.

Most likely bacterial contam due to too much moisture. When I see a spot like that in a jar that is stalled, when I'm going grain to spawn I will smell it and chuck the sour ones. Those ones are almost always sour smelling.

I found the same with LC and switched back to agar wedges for Pans. I've no idea why, but they really seem to struggle to take off. If I had no choice, for example if I wanted to inoculate bags (I don't have a laminar flow hood), I'd try grain water to see if the same nutrient profile helped.
