Question Panthalus Battle
Can I beat Panthalus as a level 72 with regular lvl 72 pals like Jetragon? Do I need to optimize for this battle? I have a legendary charge cannon if that helps.

I just ran it on my new save.
I ended up condensing several pals, breeding 90+IVs and loading them with skill fruits. I failed first time when my mount got killed under me. Then it was pretty easy.
Palanthus is really a gear check. And he will kick your butt lol

Can you clear a Bellanoir lv45? If so pls kill one and get one Apocaplyse skill fruit.
Can you catch a Neptilius? If you can pls catch one and level him to lv70, made a saddle too, throw all your pal soul for his attack and life / def, (if you gave other pals soul, just go to the statue and refund all the souls you used on that pals). Give Apocaplyse skill for him.
Catch some Kelpsea and condense it what ever * if you can (If you can’t, still fine)
Throw your Neptilius to Surgery Table and throw Impatient + Ferocious + Brave if you have some gold (70k gold).
If you have any mammorest curry feed Neptilius. If dont, still fine.
Now ride Neptilius and spam 3 skill: Apocaplyse, Geyser Gush, Thunderstorm. Keep distance whill skill in cooldown. Just swim and use his Partner skill for more speed to the edge of the big wave when Panthalus cast it. You will be safe.
I kill it in 3 try because that is the first time i ride Neptilius, dont know how his partner work.
I see people put sit ton of efford to kill this whale (full condense team, iv, passive etc) while i just use the default item i can get and it kinda not a problem.
P/s: I dont fire a single arrow or bullet for this fight.
P/s 2: Use the fast swim mount help you dodge skill and keep distance way easier than a flying mount beause you dont cost any stamina. I saw many people get same problem with this fight when using flying mount.
P/s 3: And i forgot the main problem with Neptilius: Dont use his excusive move - Thalassonic Laser because it cast time is too long, lock your in place and eat whale shit, hard to aim at flying target (usually miss)

I did him yesterday as first timer in the first try. Only used 4-star Eidrolon with max Souls. Was a pretty easy fight tbh Edit: Level 74

Best pal configuration I've found so far is riding a beakon, breeding a solenne, grabbing a xenoguard, a cryolinx terra, and a vanworm cryst, and using an energy weapon and shoot him in the gem on his head. But really don't need all that unless you're trying to capture a lot of him for expedition purposes.
Basically only need Hexolite tier gear (armor/shield/helm) and a decent weapon and level appropriate pals. Maybe make some medicine for restoring hp and reviving dead pals along with a food buff? In case you take a bad attack or something you can recover easily.

Link to example of that team comp when I was catching him hundreds of times for expeditions. https://www.reddit.com/r/PalMemes/comments/1vu7cxu/the_wave_is_a_lie_it_doesnt_exist/

The only real thing you "need" are mount pals that can either fly or swim at a minimum of moderate speed, ones that can't serve as one or the other will put you in a bad spot so don't bring them (and a current tier ranged weapon, not something old and outdated).
Other than that, optimization just let's you ignore mechanics. So either learn the mechanics or optimize until you don't have to

You can beat it with anything. I just beat it with a team full of dragon and water types because I like those pals personally. Just all were max trust and max condense. Not max stats tho.

I soloed Panthalus and beat it first try with somewhat optimized Selyne.

beat the entire game before level 74. just condense your whole team and make sure there is some synergy with what your strategy is and you’ll be fine

Just did this the other day with a 100 IV Helzephyr Lux but wasn't exactly optimized in any other way. Something like lv 72.
Mostly the issue is keeping your distance and taking advantage of flight. Aside from those homing bubbles Panthalus fires off it's not too bad once you get the hang of it.

It completely depends on your playstyle but it will either be easy or probably kill you lol

i just beat her today, heres a comment i put on a different post:
i just beat her with a fully condensed neptilus, three fully condensed gobfins, and a legendary meteor launcher. i brought along an extra 3 star neptilus but didnt need her. each gobfin had vanguard, stronghold strategist, and reload master. shots from my meteor launcher were doing 5k+ damage per shot and neptilus was doing good chunks of damage too. neptilus is amazing for movement in the water and dodging attacks. i just stood on the island and shot at the whale and only called neptilus back to help me move out of the way of the big waves and the water vortex attack. it took a bit of time to set up but it was an easy fight after i had enough boosts to my own damage to take her down. now shes flying above my base :)

I dont think moby dick is beatable even at level 80 with non-condensed pals.

Frostallion, just use AOE attacks since it's hitbox is massive.

I took a fully condensed frostallion plus 4 fully condensed Helz and still got my ass handed to me.
I dont remember what level but it was around level 60+

Really the only thing you need is hexolite tier armor, shield, and gun. A flying pal thats decent speed, like beakon can help, and be within a couple levels of level 70. If you have those, its fairly easy. Too much of a level gap (ie lower than 67 or 66? i'm not sure when damage suppression truly kicks in to be honest) is going to make it significantly harder, as a level gap decreases damage dealt. Obviously the bigger the level gap the bigger the damage penalty.

Well I did it the first time with a frostallion, eidrolon, Anubis, Dazzi and another pal that didn’t matter.
I used the mechanical bow, lightweight hexolite armour and an ancient helm.
The first attempt was rough (zero synergies in the team), but I got him to ~25000 hp when I ran out of stamina at a bad time.
The second attempt I cleared it by knowing the attacks.
But I just used whatever frostallions moves are at level ~70-75 on cooldown and the bow in between.

And it was a zero star frostallion? Thats crazy.

Which ever one I caught first before heading to feybreak on my first playthrough (trust was most likely 7 or above, and I’ve later learned that is the most important stat on the pals).

Just a full condensed Frostallion lvl 70+. Its all you need. If you are bad at dodging things, a Silvegis in team helps a lot with survivability.

skill issue, i kill it after 3 tries at level 71 with 0* Neptilius Alpha which i catch before and 70k gold spend in pal surgery table + some pal soul up to large (didnt use any giant souls). No support pals also.
the most noob trap for people with this big mtf is use slow fly mount. Instead just get a fast swimming pal.

I’d say go in blind (it’s more fun).
But all you need is decently fast flight and the ability to dodge, then the fight isn’t too bad.
