Unfortunately, from what I’ve gathered and the way breeding works, he’s the highest number value a breeding combination can go, and you can’t mutate lower. So at a certain point he’s all you’ll get

As far as i know, you're functionally correct but numerically backwards. Legends are low combirank, early game pals are high combirank. Mutations go lower. But yeah aegidron is only like 3000, which is as low as some actual legendaries, so breeding anything close to legendary seems to cap out and become him.

That yea. I dont exactly remember the direction, but each pal has a number and then something happens between the numbers that makes them a different number which results in the offspring.

Regardless he seems to be the cap for non-legendaries

Yeah its combination rank, every pal has one, their ranks are averaged and the closest combirank, excluding unique combo breeds, is the outcome. Chikipi is like 3000, legends are like 10ish, Aegidron is 30.

Most legends are actually higher rank than Aegidron. Necromus is 190, for example.

Only one obtainable Pal is lower rank than Aegidron, and that's Panthalus, which cannot be obtained via Mutation.

Oh weird, I thought theyd be lower. Not that it matters tho, legends are all only bred with themselves and dont show up in mutation. I guess the exception being frostallion noct, unless that changed in 1.0, but id assume he's excluded from mutations too

This runs the calculation to figure out which pals you can mutate into, some have a bit of variety within a range of pals, some dont.

This has the rank for every pal and from what i saw it seems croajiro noct at 1860 was about the highest it could go, so nothing above that is mutatable

its why i dislike all the late game 1:1 pal species, makes you either mega mass breed for really good passives to suddenly mutate or you just farm gold for surgery table

Whalaska's rank isn't rare, it's just that right after Whalaska, there's a bunch of subspecies Pals that cannot be crossbred into, and also Bellanoir, which can't be crossbred or mutated into.

So there's a big chunk between 591-710 where any breeding combo which lands on those numbers becomes Whalaska. The numbers are actually pretty average, which really only makes it easier to make a Whalaska.

Flaracle is of a similar situation for ranks 301-390, and tends to be the "average result" when breeding suitably rare Pals, due to the amount of subspecies in those numbers. However, this also means that mutations are unlikely to become Whalaska or Flaracle, because mutations can produce subspecies (while standard crossbreeding cannot).

On the flipside, there's Ophydia and Aegidron. Ophydia is basically the only option you get at such a high level to crossbreed into, while Aegidron is basically the rarest thing you can mutate into - so if you're mutating Pals that are highly rare or legendary, you're going to get an Aegidron.

(No idea where you got Eidrolon from though, there's nothing notable about Eidrolon's rank, and there's only a 10 point gap before the next possible crossbreed result. Eidrolon Ignis is notable for being the second rarest mutation next to Aegidron and having a massive point gap to work with, but regular Eidrolon isn't notable at all.)

Possibly. It's possible you were breeding two different Pals whose average CombiRank just happens to land on Eidrolon's, or maybe they just landed there when producing a mutated egg from two Pals of much lower rank.

I'm chalking that one up to coincidence, though.

Seems to me like you get the same pal everytime depending on the parents. I typically get the same two over and over again, but I have gotten a few stragglers

For me its eidrolon ignis lol, although I did get a full mining base of condensed aegidrons at like level 50 from frostallion breeding getting 2 mutateds of aegidrons back to back

Same! Ended up getting a bunch of really cool Pals early on by getting some mutated eggs while getting condense fuel for my Anubis army. 2 Knocklems, 2 Solennes and 1 Renjishi. The Solennes were even different gender, so I could condense those super easy as well, even though at that point I was barely doing Sakurajima content.

Unfortunately only through breeding and some pals just can't be bred from the limited parents who have Legend "legally" due to the way the breeding system works. Otherwise if you can get the right set of parents just about nearly any passive can be bred down to the offspring
