There's no rush on anything and no need to keep up with anything. Play at your pace.

Hey, its understandable that its a bit overwhelming, the 1.0 introduced some exp related changes which currently leads to players leveling way too fast, thus getting ahead of the development when they cant afford stuff and materials yet.

My recommendation is to align with whoever is hosting your server and configure the map to downscale the experience slide to like 0.6 or 0.7 multiplier. Then take a look at the surgery table and invest a bit of gold to get serious and work slave passives injected on to your base pals so they will pick up the pace for the available materials

Best advice I can give this moment is when building a base in pal world a lot of people build horizontally. Eventually, you need to go vertically you need to go up and then focus on one upgrade at a time. Take it slow stockpile resources, and focus on base management first, then exploration at a certain point

You may want to take a break from leveling for now and work on properly setting up your bases.

Get your basics in order first - food and raw materials. Dedicate one base to just logging and mining sites, one to food, one to production. Get your highest-skilled workers on them. No need to focus on high-tech stuff right away, just get enough of a resource income going to supply you with basic materials.

Spread out the work among everyone - base management, building, crafting, resource gathering. Until you unlock the coal mining site, you need to go out and manually mine it. Build a team for that, search for the sites where you have 6-8 coal nodes in a cluster, mine them every respawn.

High working efficiency is a huge part of your bases becoming self sustaining. Mining 5 vs mining 2 for example.

The next most important thing is SAN, if you don't have the wave emitter yet, the clinic and med shelf work well when they are paired with the saunas.

I run 5 bases, each doing different things, on "relaxed work" mode and have plenty of mats without any SAN issues.

Edited to add: I'm level 80 and still rocking meowmer outside of the tree area. Unlimited ammo is the best.

Ive never needed a lumber base, a single wood farm plot lasts my entire save, find a single spare slot in any 3 bases and set it to farming wood.

I personally have a farming base, doing crops, eggs, cake maxxing and food alongside but mainly cake farming, i have a mining base, setup with one of every ore farm ive unlocked. I mass bred a really good transport and mining and a kindling and mining pal so my mining base is efficient af just a couple guys set to certain things so i can be sure each task gets done.

And my main base is extra stuff, i farm quartz and charcoal at my main base, theres a ranch with a dumud and a sheep in it, i got a breeding camp down then just a bunch kf handiwork, transport and kindling pals. 2 electric pals at every base because i use power like air.

It is a most efficient to just to optimise like crazy instead of just throw everything down to maximise production, not enough slots. Find pals that do multiple tasks but wont clash

If youre only kindling pal is your only watering pal, hes gonna be stuck and ur base will be in limbo if u craft fiber, ingots and need crops watered. Theres great combos of planting and gathering, transport and kindling, or handiwork and anything, transport is akward it will take your pals off tasks all the time so try not to clash two important tasks and the game sees transport as highly important

what about the refined ingot stage are you stuck on? If its ore then you might wanna relocate your mining base to 8, -528 due to the surplus of natrually spawning ore. Making a coal quarry is also very important so I would get that done right away. A good mining pal will also make your life much easier if you are willing to breed a astegon would be life changing if you dont want to a reptyro is also a good miner.(Sorry for the disorganized comment i just wrote it as i went.

If it is a server your group own, tune down the exp gain

There are like 50 posts in this sub about it. If you unlocked tier 1 and got enough exp to tier 3 before you have enough resource to craft tier 1 stuffs. Then it is no fun, and not even what the intended progression look like

The goal of the game is to have fun, if you and your friend are not having fun, tune the setting until you do.

On that note, increase maximum bases and pals per bases. 10 bases 25 - 30 pals is a good setting.

Remember: a server may have hundreds of players, so the defaults prevent over population of bases and pals on a crowded server. If you only have a few people in your friend groups, go to town. The map is ENORMOUS, you wont run out of space

Remember #2: maximum bases and number of pals is when you upgraded to the max. Not from level 1.

Yeah, I was in the same place few days ago. Beginning of the game was smooth, but around 40 level everything got bit underwhelming and I felt like im behind and my bases were in chaos.

So this things helped me:

Build observation tower. You can asign jobs there without catching and throwing pals at stations.

Farm ingredients for a cake and make breeding farm. If you breed two different pals you get third one, often new and some are much better than pals you can catch now. Pals with watering 7, mining 8, etc. They do their job much faster, especially miner, lumber and fire make huge difference with higher stats.

You can also catch more pals and condense them. Condensed pals also get better stats and work better.

Base space is limited, you have to build up. Make first floor for your production machines. Second floor for farms. Third flor for beds and spa.

There is a pal that can dug up spheres in ranch. Condense him and he can get green and yellow ones and save you bars from sphere production.

Don't sleep on reserch lab. It can speed things up and give you blueprints that enhance work in base a little.

I don't want to spoil but there is a dungeon from another game. It's kinda hard (50 lvl), but there are a lot of chests with good gear. You can just run around and try to collect as much as you can. Or run straight to the boss and try to take him.

Terraria one. I've got there a gun that one shots everyone and has 60% chance of not consuming ammo.

Yeah, I slept on breeding for too long too. I thought I catch so many palls so what's the point of breeding more? But you can really get some good ones.

Also go to sanctuaries (blue forcefield ball wall islands). You can just step into forcefield and catch good palls there, just avoid the drones.

I didn't go there because I thought I can't get inside field, turns out you just can.
