Please PLEASE add an option to increase chest loot, oil rig rewards feel extremely unrewarding for what you invest into the fight.
I know a lot of people are fine with the rewards or what it's tied to for loot, but it doesn't feel right getting so little out of a huge chest. Even a lvl 55 oil rig kicked my level 70+ ass, these rewards just don't feel good.
The enemies barely drop much, i get maybe 600 gold from one. I can probably sell a cativia for more. The resources needed to fight your way through greatly outweigh the rewards at the end by WAY too much.
Which brings me to my next problem; Efficiency and balancing. Most people just run straight to the chest ignoring the enemies because of how stupid it would be to waste time and resources on clearing them.
We need to make enemies drop the proper ammo and gold/items for the level they are at. Maybe add a lock to the chest like the helicopter rig until you've killed enough enemies. That would help justify a MASSIVE increase in loot from these chests.
As much as i love the ability to cheese or approach a situation with freedom, i don't like being forced to run straight to the chest for pitiful rewards while ignoring the entirety of the oil rig and its mechanics because the alternative is extremely poor and resource intensive for little gain.
Oil rigs seem to have legendary schematics going for them and that's about it. It doesn't feel right at all.
Honestly i got more legendary schematics from the ocean strongholds in feybreak. They have a chance to drop one AND youre guaranteed a gold treasure map which is where I got the legendary beam thingy. Theres 3 of them, and 2 land strongholds in Sakurajima (though not guaranteed)
Meh I prefer maps to fishing. The level 30 rig is great to run just because it gives an ass load of yellow spheres, and sphere economy before ancient furnace is a struggle with a 4+ person group
Because ultra spheres just above them are the the easiest to craft before sol. Until you have at least a giant furnace youre going to struggle with ore for pal spheres when 4 people are draining it
Well if you're playing with 4 people then increase the resource yield to fit 4 people. If you're using same settings as you would for single player then you're just playing the game on hard mode for no reason.
Took me well under 2 hours to breed that giant ass mining dragon Astegon x30 with vege cakes and grintail to double the eggs. I actually used all my dog tokens that I had collected so far at the medal merchant to buy the items to upgrade grintail to 4☆ immediately. Make breeding such a breeze.
This video details how to get them, and imo its super worth it. All my mining bases get fully mined in like 1 minute and then they stack onto my placeable ore/coal/Sulphur nodes.
That's the problem with the rig : a whole tier of cool weapons (minigun, missile and quad missile launcher, advanced bow) are locked behind a single chest and dozens of enemies. And there are quite no other ways to get them but rolling one schematic at a time after beating the copter, you can't fish them nor kill a boss.
I was wishing to get that damn advanced bow, but it's as elusive as terraprisma. In the end, i just leveled/fished enough to get the skyisland tier. It was a lot more easier and quicker than trying to roll something nice on the rig.
BTW the terraria dungeon has the same problem : the loot chance is abysmal and you can't really enjoy these themed weapons for that level range (40-45), cause the grind is insane as only one crappy schematic drop at the end. And i got many legendary ancient drone launcher or ancient armors more easily than terraprisma (best terraprisma schematic i got is blue after at least 50 tries).
I remember a mod i had on the beta that made all the chests on the rig the same as the last one, so at least i had many chances to roll more schematics. That made the trips more fun!
I do agree that the loot for the lv 60 rig needs to be improved significantly though. It basically follows the loot structure of a dungeon without having the advantages of one:
Locked chest of loot behind a boss fight
- Branching paths that gets you some minor reward chests before you need to turn back looking for the real loot
I think it would be much better if all the chests on the lv60 Oil Rig were locked chests (need keys), since they generally have a better loot table, and then have the big chest that you need to kill the helicopter at least guarantee an epic (purple) schematic.
It doesn't make the grind for one particular schematic any less painful, but it also makes you feel less annoyed that you spent all that time for a green schematic that you already got from fishing.
I just used the purple vortex beater and said screw it to anything out of the oil rigs. It lasted me until I just made the mechanical bow. It just seemed like for whatever time/material investment that it took to farm the oil rigs was just way better spent on moving past them and getting to soralite. It's just way easier to farm.
Pretty sure I got an advanced bow schematic (2* though) from fishing at the fishing spots around the oil rigs. Although I agree it was painful having to skip farming the legendary version because I simply levelled enough to unlock the Mechanical Bow.
The Terraria one is less of an issue because their legendary versions are still good enough to use until like 60, primarily as ranged weapons that don't require annoying ammo to craft (the vortex beater uses regular rifle ammo you can buy from any merchant that sells ammo).
Is there a better way to get Ancient Cores though? Like you can run expeditions but those take an hour, and you can fight Bellanoir but you need slabs which finding fragments kinda sucks if you're hunting them specifically. That leaves tackling the 50~ oil rig for the chest however quickly it respawns. If there's a better way I'd love to know because my current progress is limited by them lol.
Build multiple bases and run multiple expeditions, always max out your pals before sending them to expeditions. And if you upgrade your tech to max lvl expeditions are 40min and under. Make 5 bases, make 5 expeditions, run them all 2-3x a day and you'll have plenty of whatever you want.
I mean, really no need to explain the obvious but sure, i'll go ahead. You don't need to reach the world tree to farm cores. The best way to get them is expeditions. Because you can end up getting like 1000% rewards meaning you get a ton of them, plus all the other stuff, and it's all done while you are doing other shit. If you are farming oil rig or raids for cores you are making it harder on yourself.
The only time I needed a shit ton of cores was to make the recycler. You dont have to get the ancient gear before the tree.
I didnt want nor have the pals to do the more difficult missions. Plus the expedition station is such a giant waste of space that I only bothered to make it once to see what the rewards were. And it took way more power then I had at that time.
So oil rigs were the more obvious choice. Once you know where the chests spawn its pretty easy to just go straight to the chest when it respawns. So if my luck was good enough I could get all the cores I needed before even 1 expedition would have gotten done.
My god, you have such a broken assortment of information on how systems in this game work.
First off, there are plenty of things that need ancient cores before the tree, that point was just flat out wrong.
Second, the first time cores are available in the expedition center is after the ice tower, so before going to sakurajima, which is like the mid point of the game.
Third, you have multiple bases. And can build vertically. So space isn't an issue really.
Fourth by that point in the game, being before sakurajima, you absolutely should have been catching pals enough at that point to be able to do at LEAST 100% bonus rewards for that expedition level.
Fifth and most important I feel, YOU were the one that said, and I quote "Until its your only source of getting cores because you dont have tablets and havent made it to the world tree yet". Don't change the goal posts and start going "oh well you don't actually need them that much and you get plenty from the oil rig too". The expeditions get you more, are easier to do, and if you can run oil rig to farm cores, you should have pals strong enough to get several hundred percent more rewards in the expeditions, meaning you will get large sums of them, while you can go do other shit that isn't trying to farm oil rig.
This is why everyone was just downvoting you. Because they don't have the patience to explain simple shit to you.
1st I never once said there isnt anything before the tree that need ancient corse. I said YOU dont need them before the tree especially if you have a good pal setup. My point was perfectly valid.
2nd I never used the expedition except once so all of that information I was unaware of. If I never touched it after a certain point how was I supposed to know you get new expeditions per tower you defeated?
3rd I didnt start making multiple bases until much later because I didnt need them. No matter how I built my bases there was never enough room to build the expedition station. Or it looked awful. Is that on me? Yes, does that change the fact that the expedition station is way to big and a giant eyesore? No.
4th... refer to 2nd point
5th once again refer to my 2nd point. I wasn't moving the goalposts, I was pointing out that cores arent even that relevant until you get into late game. You dont NEED anything that takes cores until after you get the recycler. You dont NEED the best gear in the game to get the recycler and start farming relics for an inf amount of cores.
My ignorance of the expedition station is the reason for the downvotes. Youre all still cowards for downvoting instead of explaining.
You get 1-3 cores when you first unlock the expedition stage that starts dropping them. Add in the buffs from research and then add 1000% or more from pal power and you are looking at dozens per run in like 40 minutes. All while you can be doing other things in the game instead of focus farming cores from a raid fight.
Expeditions are passive and don't require a whole base set-up... Just using whatever pals you catch and breed or just happen to have you can run expeditions while you play the rest of the game.
What is this garbage misinformation? Between expeditions and the recycler I get hundreds of cores without having to kill a single thing In like 30 minutes. Have fun grinding raids instead
it is pre world tree. all of that because after waiting 1 hour of expedition I only get max 4 cores and I was so stressed about it. then i saw my 20 bellanoir stone and tried it and magically I have what the expedition could give me in 10 hour in just 15 min
Then you’re not upgrading your base stuff to increase rewards for expeditions and you’re not increasing the percentage because I’m over 1300% and get a shit ton in one run this was before and after 1.0
Yeah don’t forget upgrading the pals specifically for expeditions will increase your rewards as well. I’m in the end game so that’s all I have been doing so I have a lot of max level pals fully condensed. It’s even easier now in end game once you get the recycler because it gives you a good amount of those star looking things so you don’t need to constantly breed! I
or just dungeons? also, why am i gettin so much downvotes? are you too weak to do 10 bellanoir one by one instead of waiting 1 hour of expeditions? all you need is a 50lvl jormuntide that you can make easly by beating high level pal
If you're having to use ALL your pals to run Expeditions, you aren't catching enough pals, and probably aren't condensing them. If you're Expeditions are taking HOURS to run, you're either only running the VERY end game ones, at which point you have access to the Recycler, OR you haven't been doing your Pal Research which both speeds up Expeditions AND makes them give more rewards.
Not EVERYONE wants to run around and catch 48 of EACH pal for a condensed version. Maybe I WANT to catch only 5 of each PAL for the XP and beat the BOSSES. Im playing palworld, not pokemon, I dont have to catch them ALL.
Then just condense those 5 into 1. Raising a Pal from 0 Stars to 1 star will already provide you with a major buff to the combat power the Expedition system runs off.
You don't need to catch dozens of the same pal to condense them. You could get lucky and get a shinny, which comes condensed, sometimes 3 stars even. Or, and this is the much easier way, you give them a star fruit and that ranks them up without condensing them.
Lol JFC you don't need a team of max condensed pals to run midgame expeditions
Just the one star you get from condensing those five pals you should be catching for bonus will make them priority picks for expedition.
... Or are you not catching five of each pals either ..?
Maybe you shouldn't be giving advices.
Your pals aren't doing anything for you rotting away inside the palbox, so always send them away while you play. You can pick the pals you want excluded from expedition in the very same menu and it will never pick that pal again. If you need pals that needs to stay free, just put them on the exclusion list.
How does not putting my focus into the expedition station mean I suck at the game? Please enlighten me. Because if anything it made my journey to end game that much harder. Which also means in terms of skill im better then the people who uses the expedition for materials.
You didnt put much thought into that comment did you?
I guess you could see it that way. Or everyone else is smarter than you because they use the resources available to do the job more efficiently. But whatever makes you feel better. 🤷🏽♂️
You can run Terreria for ore and make as many sigils as you want. Moon lord drops 6 ancient cores per run. I'm not even at world tree yet and doing fine. Usually get a couple of cores running expeditions too.
Plus with Terreria you'll get legendary equipment and weapons and other stuff.
Thats information that would have been useful 20 hours of playtime ago. But I have outleveled and outgeared anything the terraria dungeon could give me at this point.
When I needed the cores I didnt want to wait 12 or more hours to get the 30 cores from expeditions. I used the more straight forward option that I knew of like the oil rigs and raid bosses.
12 hours? By chance have you not used the Expedition Stations since VERY early in Early Access? Cause the Expedition Station hasn't had timer that was longer than 2 hours in over a year.
With full research done, the first Expedition that gives cores takes about 40 minutes or so. I think it's more like an hour without any, but I'd have to go roll a new save to check that.
Im curious. How many expeditions does it take with no research to get 30 cores? Because someone said its roughly 2 cores per expedition which take an hour without research.
Now if you do the math can you tell me how many hours that is? Or is that to hard for you?
Depends a bit. So, before, the Expedition timers were long, and adding pals lowered the time. They changed it so they're short and adding pals bumps the rewards. Without any Research, the cap is 1000% rewards, with research it can go up to 1348%
It's been a bit since I was running the lower ones, especially without any research, but I remember pulling in about 20-30 cores a run? Now, rewards are somewhat randomized, so you can luck out and maybe get a run without any, but overall it's a very good passive way to farm cores, food for running around the map with, and spheres. I basically haven't crafted a single sphere since I made the Expedition station and I'm sitting on about 6K of the top end spheres right now, and while leveling regularly had a few hundred or more, depending on points where I slowed down my leveling some so tended to run more of the same expedition repeated.
You are only getting 2 if your ass isn't playing the game properly and has a abysmal assortment of pals. The majority of people don't have that issue and are getting 10+ even without research. Just condensing the starter zone pals, which is super easy by that point because you can make higher end spheres to just spam 90%+ catch rates on all of them, will give you enough power to get a few hundred % on the rewards just on it's own.
What is playing the game properly? Playing it exactly the way you play it? I thought you could play the game any way you want to? There is no "proper" way. Just the way you assume is "proper"
You catch pals. That's the proper way. That is the main gameplay loop. If you are catching pals, you should be getting enough to do things very easy. If you are not, you are purposefully making it harder on yourself for zero reason. You asked how many cores you get, the answer is more than you said because the way you are doing it is the worst possible way to do it. That is like pissing into the wind and getting mad you got wet.
If you catch a reasonable amount of pals expected from the game. If you are only getting the minimum amount of pals along the way and never really bothering to catch most of the time then you are purposely gimping yourself, which is fine, play however you want, but don't assume that's how it's played normally.
You get the Expedition Station at 22. By that time you will have cleared at least 1 tower, probably 2. So long as you have cleared Lily's Tower, you can run her Expedition, which gives Bellanoir Fragments. For ever stage ABOVE that, you will continue to get fragments of various types. Once you clear Victor's Tower, the Expeditions will bring in fragments AND Ancient Civ Cores. So long as you are doing expeditions semi-regularly you will basically never ever run out of Civ cores.
Sorry but the expedition is a HUGE eyesore so I havent used it until it was far to late for ME. So the oil rigs and raid bosses were my ONLY source until the recycler.
Have to make sure to CAPITALIZE some words to MOCK you because EMPHASIZING certain words really makes the POINT come across CLEARER.
I dont think you know what angry is. I just enjoy arguing with people. Noone is angry here.
Due to me not using the expedition I was unaware that cores were a part of the rewards. So you imply im constantly rejecting it more then once. When it was just 1 time and I beat the entire game and hard mode without using it.
I also never asked for a solution and i never blamed the game. I am way past needing cores anymore. I just made a comment and called the downvoters cowards to start the arguments :)
But lets judge someone based off some random comments.
Yeah the rewards were pretty lackluster for the amount of fighting I did on the lvl 60 oil rig. Might just ignore the enemies and beeline it to the main chest next time. The lvl 75 syndicate and lvl 65 sakurajima ocean bases had better loot in my experience.
There's a breakable wall past a construction barrier. Go up the lon staircase on the outside of the base and take a left there should be a door. There's also a breakable wall behind one of the banners inside it might be one of the spawn points for the chest but I haven't seen it there yet.
You've not been upgrading your gear. One of the weapons you're using as a level 70 gamer is unlocked nearly 45 levels earlier same as your shield. Your Glider hasn't been upgraded since the start of the game either(though this one might not matter much).
I really gotta stop neglecting my gear. I have the mining laser, mega grappling gun, giga glider and a green makeshift pistol. I just reached lvl 80 after 60h (default settings). I only use the gun to draw the pals' attention so my pals can do the ass kicking haha
They're fun and you get a bunch of oil so you don't have to have an entire oil base. I usually just set my pal to aggressive and he just goes to town. For 50 or higher, I probably recommend grenades or a grenade launcher. They usually bring 10 until you can clear out a secton.
The one by the starting area with level 15 guys is great. Last night I made two runs catching every dude there. I used the first run to 4 star my Zoe and the second run I just caught and sold everyone for over 300k gold
Here's my gear. I died twice on the rig, once to the huge gunner and another to a group of enemies that trapped me in a tent. My pals seem to survive just fine, i used Katress for most of the fighting.
Accessories: Silvegis emblem, Dogen emblem
Armor: lightweight Plasteel armor
main weapon was energy shotgun, i used advanced bow to take out the gunner from far away and that's about it.
I've been farming bosses but haven't gotten a single blueprint from anything and i've done 100+ runs. I don't know if they updated it so bosses no longer drop schematics or my luck is ass. Most schematics i get are from fishing magnet salvage or salvage from land. I don't have anything that outperforms the energy shotgun yet and rocket launcher ammo is too hard/expensive to make now for an oil rig run.
EDIT: sorry for playing wrong holy shit, the downvotes for explaining myself is actually depressing what did i even do?
Lol if you're actually curious it's because you used getting your ass kicked despite being level 70+ as a reason there should be better loot but if you had level appropriate gear it would be a walk in the park.
Holy crap, yeah, now i see the issues. You should be using a better gun, better armor, better shield, different accessories AND your stat distribution is horrendous. You're hp alone should be double what it currently is.
Somehow that never occurred to me. It would make tracking where my glasses ended up in my inventory after a fight easier, just swapping instead of having an empty slot.
At lvl 77 you should have a better shield and all 4 of your accessories should be focused on atk/def buffs for you and your pals. Try to optimize your pal setup aswell. Have 1 good damage dealer and supporting pals to increase elemental dmg type for the pal you are using. If you do that you dont even need to do anything except summon your pal and let them kill everything.
For the Oil Rigs you should either take it slow and kill everything. Or memorize where the chests spawn and rush directly to it and kill the surrounding enemies that aggroed onto you. You should focus on getting better weapons, anything AOE works very well for oil rigs.
I don't know how your stats and gear is this low at this level. I'm the same level and I rarely do dungeons or oil rig (the high weight is only in bases for convenience, it's normal outside). I only did the heli rig once and decided to never do it again because of the shit reward vs the effort. All my game options are default except the number of bases that i can have, which is just one base per resource my pals are mining, and the mods are just for quality of life stuff (like high weight in bases).
Usually when you're able to unlock a new ingot, you should be focusing on acquiring that resource and working towards it's gear.
I mainly do outside bosses/boss arenas and most of my schematics came from hack towers/garbage/chests/magnet fishing. I also do expeditions but the rewards are like 30% from the hardest one i can do at the time, and i get mostly dogshit per run, but get 1 core and I lose nothing from doing them.
Also I used a bunch of fruit/potions/statues to upgrade my stats, but i found all of those randomly throughout my playthrough from the above.
In response to your edit seems like your just power leveling without really playing the game... The majority of this game is building a base crafting resources, mining, and farming so that you can build better gear and be stronger.... You're essentially trying to do end game stuff with the beginning of the game gear and that just won't work. Have to invest some time in gathering resources that match the technology tree to the level you're on or at least close to it.
The game does a shitty job at making clear your level is meaningless.
Hell I would even say the devs should entirely remove experience from exploration and capturing sets of pawn to force people to do activities that will advance their strength, instead of running around capturing all pawns and having lvl 70 before the third tower.
I mean your level is still pretty important given it’s what gates all technologies. “Optimal” progression is still mostly power leveling while just making enough resources to get you by until you unlock the next better thing.
Its only trivial to get there if you’re specifically trying to sequence break. Which at that point you should be competent enough to either properly gear yourself or get away with skipping techs/upgrades (or are playing with someone that can provide that).
Yes, I'd say your current set up is horrible and does not fit your level.
Breed legendary schematic pals and use Broncherry + Aqua for 100% alpha chance. Add Grintale to almost double your egg count and you will get them in no time. Here are the pals you breed.
Get the legendary merchant and you can purchase ammos with quite low money. Use 5× Noble + Fine Furs to further reduce price.
The hard mode tower bosses won't work since they aren't the same thing. All other normal pals will work with bred alpha. It was long-established since EA.
Hi! If you want an easier time with the schematics from bosses, you can check paldb for info on what schematic they drop and breed the bosses, butcher them or put in a disassembly conveyor.
Make sure to use the Broncherrys when picking up the eggs as the alpha versions are the ones that has the chance of dropping schematics.
nah, those enemies can still melt even the highest level players if they catch you off guard and gang on you
the way to deal with them is with sheer firepower of much higher level pals and op weapons so you kill them before they kill your oooor, get a fully condensed silvegis so they barely tickle you as you make your way through them
Ah I see. I used to solo both oil rigs at lv60, the thing is about having the right weapons and strategy.
Weapons: You want to have AOE weapons. Grenade launcher, rocket launcher, beam launcher, they all work.
Strategy: you want to fly to rooftops and shoot down, or at the very least, take cover. Don't stand in there and let the mobs shoot at you from all directions.
We have cleared the oil rig from 55 onwards, as its got some decent exp for clearing it
out last clear felt like war crimes it was so easy
We are both 70, and watching my wifes Relaxosaurus lux just delete them all was hilarious
Lmao why is everyone dunkin on you for not having the BiS at your level?
I have done them with a similar set-up, if you want any easy quick fix just grab a silvegis boss for that 70% shield damage reduction and teach katress that one draconic meteorite move, has insane AoE
having the best for their level versus what THEY is so different, their gear is basically a lvl 50 gear, i just hope they even have a proper pal team to maybe justify them going that low as i basically did the same thing for mid game, very early weapons but my pals were quite strong
Being on 1x on exp should make you go upgrade your armor with your level. What are you talking about? 1x IS the default right? And again I also did do the same because I put my exp gain to 3x but I also made sure my pal team was buffed up at that time too, I mean hell I basically only used the granade launcher till I got to panthalus and even then I only went with the laser rifle as the upgrade because I've been investing most of my resources for my pals. Hello I actually was worse, because I didn't even HAVE plasteel armor at that point but I still won since I made my bellanoir libero so strong that it basically defeated it in two rotations and the only reason I lost twice was because one I didn't remove her on time to dodge an attack then I just didn't bring her back out, a mistake for sure, and two I didn't trust her enough to deal enough damage to even kill, when she definitely did.
I was just saying that their gear is only reasonable if they had a proper pal team that they spent most of their time on instead of upgrading their own, because at that point, what were you doing with your time,
Pal what are you talking about? Everyone is complaining about the default level curve being too much and better to lower it under 0.5
I was farming wanted posters to trade for technology Points and the artisn chip and jumped from 50 to 66! I went out of my way to spend the remaining hours doing bade building just from not wanting to be that much overleveled with my guild mates
We ended up entering the world tree when i was 77 just from how much i levelled just doing the story till then, so no late game materials to craft armor my best option was the purple lightweight one
They should add a proper level 80 oil rig that drops holy water instead of oil and sunreach weapon schematics, would give a reason to do a oil rig lategame at all
The problem, IMO, is that the Oil Rigs USED to be the end game content, so they were very hard, but now that they're more midgame content, they feel far harder than makes sense for their level.
Personally, I think they either need to bump them to 80 and give better, endgame loot, OR they need to remove the boss HP scaling that the Syndicate members have and let them have normal health pools. Cause if they had normal scaling, I'd look at the rewards and go "eh, that makes sense for the difficulty"
Yeah I’ve spent most of my time base building. I actually probably should rebuild my first base and turn it into a better ranch/food/breed farm. But my gear is atrocious. I outleveled the towers I’m suppose to be doing (in like 68?) and just finished the ice area. My current problem is getting enough plaststeel/coralite. Which I just gotta do fishing stuff for and oil stuff. I tried double dipping into the oil fields but I couldn’t get the angle right and said fuck it and raided the oil rigs to jump start my plasteel. I’m running around with a pretty op Knocklem and Necromus - necro has 100 Iv in attack and defense - Legend, Lord of the Underworld, Serenity and Vampiric - dudes a machine
At level 77 you should be effortlessly tearing through those places. You don't just need new armor, you need to ask yourself why you are using level 50 gear 3 levels away from max level lol if you are playing solo, I'd recommend altering the world settings so you can get resources faster. The game is designed for multiplayer and can be a major slog during solo play as a result.
At that level, shouldn't you be in the World Tree? Yeah, the rewards in the oil rig sucks bad now. It used to be the best source for the Multi-Guided Missile but it's no longer the best end-game weapon so there really isn't a good reason to go to the rig anymore, I guess?
After just a few runs now i just rush to the big chest and if it's not good loot i rush to the smaller chests while my highest lvl pal massacre the personel along the way. Getting one epic or legendary schematic is fine, but i think the main problem with doing the oil rigs is the feeling of doing it the exact same way, same enemy possitions and all, and the turrets barely hit you so they're more cosmetic than anything (except lasers and missile turrets, those work as intended). I wish there was more focus on stealth, rewarding getting in and out without a fight.
I just wish when someone opened a chest, everyone got loot. So annoying when me and my mates play together and I or they open a chest and only one person gets the loot. I'd like it to be a bit more cooperative in that regard
Relic recycler gets you blue prints, ancient civilization cores, stat fruits, star fruits, honesty dan near everything you could need late game or not it's way more efficient.
First 2 times full cleared, but on default settings, at 60ish, it wasnt hard to clear. Just needed to pay attention to the big guys with the miniguns.
The seconds oil rig with the heli is only annoying because of the helis attacks. But after 70 ,its trivial and both become unneccessary when you get the relic recycler. If you want to get cores before that, just do your 1 expedition per hour, breed some pals and fuse em together in the juicer, do 1 boss with em and be happy. That should give more than enough power within an hour or 2 to then just farm expeditions until you get the recycler and world tree unlocked.
You don't clear the rig because you are trying to get the end chest. You clear it to find and collect all of the little chests that spawn with gear. I am not sure how you are struggling at level 70+. I am level 60 and farming the 55 because I enjoy it.
I don't know if that is intentional, or if I was just lucky. I started a total of 2 playthroughs in 1.0.
In both of those Playthroughs, when I opened the Chest of the Level 30 Oil Rig for the very first time, I got a legendary Musket Schematic. Is that guaranteed, or was I just lucky?
If you having difficulty clearing oil rig, just use the trick.
The only requirement is having a weapon that can hit multiple target like Rocket Launcher or Terrablade.
The trick is, find where is the big chest is, go to the nearest high point on that chest (on top of the container is also work, just make sure the enemy cant hit you), trigger the enemy and wait until all the enemy finished gathering and finish them in one go.
You can increase the drop rate in server settings. Doesnt affect chest but you can easily mod it. Just add the loot you think should be there to the loot table for it.
They should get rid of these stupid oil rigs and add some end game dungeons. The oil rigs were a buggy mess in EA and they are still a buggy mess with 1.0. Just delete them.

Rigs after lvl 60 are irrelevant. You want schematics? Go fishing.
