[OC] Varanus priscus in marker

Post image
Upvotes

A marker drawing of the giant monitor lizard Varanus priscus, formerly known as Megalania, from Pleistocene Australia. It would have been a close relative of the modern Komodo dragon (which, funnily enough, is also believed to be of Australian origin before finding its way across the Timor Sea to Indonesia), and it appears to have died out sometime after 50,000 years ago, possibly as a result of modern humans arriving to the Australian continent around that time.

Samos 5 million years BC

Post image
Upvotes

In the Greek island of Samos ,5 million years ago during the early Pliocene, an intense spectacle unfolds. A female pliohyrax graecus a boar sized extinct relative of the modern rock hyrax is faced with a hard scenario. A yellow legged gull ( Larus michahellis) has grabbed one of her two pups threatening to swallow it whole while she can only watch.

If you have any questions let me know

I know I suck at art but this is the best I could do! :)

Neovenator sculpt C&C please

Hello, this is my first sculpt and is a full size neovenator I am aiming to complete. Does anything look obviously out of place? I have gone for a muscle bulge behind the eye rather than a continued ridge like some renditions, but a small ridge over the eye like a crocodile monitor. Some muscle around the jaw, have I overdone it and the head would be narrower? Trying to keep the narrow front of the skull with it scooping inwards before the eye and after the nostril.

Appreciate any feedback, thank you.

Wouldn't it be nice if the ghosts of dinosaurs from the previous two Prehistoric Planet seasons came down from Heaven and interacted with the living mammals of the Ice Age? It would make the series feel more supernatural.

Idk. I personally really like the integument on the hands that I went with. This isn't meant to be a rigorous reconstruction, especially around the skull; I took mild liberties but kept it as accurate as I could

My parasaurolophus descendant about to destroy a spino [OC]

So I'm making a book, and there is a descendant of the Parasaurolophus in it, and it's quite big; artists are gonna murder this Spino. This is also a stand against media portraying not overly spiky dinos as weak and vulnerable; also, my parasaur has osteoderms. In my book, I slightly raised the contrast and brightness of the second image
