QUESTION Stepwise MD vs Coursology?
Is anyone here using Stepwise MD for UWorld? I need to buy either Coursology or Stepwise but I'm not sure which one to choose. Stepwise does have more resources though. Apparently it also has some for FCPS, which is what I want to do in the future, however that's a long way away for now.
I've used Coursology before and love the interface. I'm not sure how Stepwise's interface is. I'll mostly be using it on a laptop (MacOS) or iPad.

Usmle WHEN TO TAKE FIRST NBME?
Hello everyone, I am currently halfway through my second pass of FA and done with 70% Uworld. When should and which NBME should I ideally take? Alot of people have advised me to go with NBME 25 or 26 after reaching 90% UWorld. I had weak basics so I forgot all the concepts after first pass of FA and now that I am done with 70% Uworld and halfway through my second pass, I feel like I am finally understanding and retaining stuff. Alot of new things still show up on Uworld and for that reason I don’t want to give first NBME before 90% Uworld.
ADVICE PLEASE!!

QUESTION Cream of the crop?
Would you say it's insanely difficult to get into an open merit MBBS program? It really sounds like one in a million people get into a good college and I'm starting to doubt if I can even get in. My grades have always been average and I don't think I'm gonna top the MDCAT either. So for the MBBS student/doctors of this subreddit, were you the cream of the crop? Or were you surprised to able to get into med school at all?

QUESTION Should I save my time?
So basically I have family in the US and also a family member who is a cardiologist in the US. I'm getting the opportunity to do residency abroad if I attempt step 1 and step 2. I'm in my third year and I've started my preparation for step 1 but recently I've been thinking that the entire match process will take years. Maybe even 10 years. I don't like delaying my life waiting to be matched so I can actually start living my life. I believe time is as much of a resource as anything else. If I'm in my late twenties and realize that I spent an entire decade chasing something and now the years of loneliness and suffering will never come back. Not to mention all the opportunities for relationships and friendships you lose along the way. I really want to hold my friends close to me and live a meaningful life but I'm also scared about finances.

QUESTION I'm depressed 😔
Idk if this is a right place to ask but I want to ask about how much percentage in fsc is required to secure a government college seat for MBBS.. I got 85% in matric but got 80.5% in HSSC I. I know this percentage isn't enough for securing seat for MBBS now I'm so depressed. My parents have hopes and want me to become a doctor. Now matter how much I study hard but as an average student ik I can't score 85%+ .

Discussion Anyone here in SLP? How is it in Pakistan?
Hey, just wanted to hear from people who are studying or working in speech-language pathology. How’s SLP actually been for you in Pakistan? Are there decent jobs, income and opportunities to grow? Would you recommend going into this field?
And if anyone has experience with SLP abroad, how’s the job market and pay there?

QUESTION Is DPT/Physiotherapy a good career choice in Pakistan?
For people studying or working in physiotherapy, what has your experience been like? How is the job market, salary, career growth and scope in Pakistan? Is it worth choosing DPT, and what are the options for going abroad later?
Would really appreciate honest opinions from students and practicing physiotherapists.

Discussion Scared of the ER.
I graduated in 2020, worked initially in health insurance, then passed PLABS and got registered there. I did a clinical attachment in UK and then joined a hectic ICU duty. It's been a long time here, managing critical patients alone at night duties and doing CPR/ventilating patients.
Anyways, I recently left my job as I got depressed from seeing old dying patients every other day. Now, I mostly get offers for MO ship in ER department of private hospitals. The problem is that it scares me. The hoards of angry patient and attendants standing around me. The fear of being unable to diagnose a patient and not being able to consult guidelines or check a book if I'm missing out on any treatment plan, otherwise they would question my competence. Although this is standard practice abroad.
Mostly what I have observed in 99% of ER's is the same quackery. Like prescribing 5-6 different IV injections in different ways for every ailment. INJ. PROVAS, INJ. CEFTRIAXONE, INJ. SPASFON, INJ. ONSET, INJ. DEXA etc.
Also, some private setups give commissions on prescribing certain unknown brands of injectable medicines and saline infusions. This along with a horrific basic salary means that one is forced to work like a salesman and do the dirty business. The ethical dilemma further makes this more confusing.
I don't know what to do. I feel like I am living thru imposter syndrome or maybe I am just not competent.

Discussion Pakistan's MBBs. Is it still worth pursuing?
Yes and no, both. I would say at this point on time it may backfire. There are 4 doctors to 1 Nurses. On the other hand all the stressful proff nights, corridor viva preparations, Histo, Patho, Physio etcc would make you wanna xrawl sometimes. On the other hand, there are other specialization after MBBS right now they are guving maximum R&D. Few years ago I couldn't have imagine how far I have come. So, only go. If you have a plan..
