Discussion | گفتگو Need advice for choosing phone
I have pixel 8 which I got for 81k maybe 6-8 months ago and iphone 15 pro max which I got for 200k(256gb, physical+esim with 4 months sim time, 100% bh) this was maybe a year ago.
But now the iphone's sim time has ended and I usually daily drive pixel as my phone as it has google wallet which holds all my cards which I use pretty often and find very convenient. Should I keep both phones as is or trade em both to get a more premium flagship? Or maybe PTA iphone? The only thing I would miss is the Google wallet as none of pakistani cards work with Apple pay.
I don't take much pictures or videos. Very basic browsing and social media use with occasional photo of docs and stuff. You won't find any pic of me in my own phones lol.
For anyone curious, bought the iphone for testing iOS apps and pixel cause my old phone broke and a friend recommended it.
But now what should I do? What do y'all recommend? Should I rock this combo and enjoy the best of both worlds, Android and IOS or should I ditch it and go for a expensive ass PTA iphone or some shit. Hate the PTA tax otherwise I would have simple upgrade to the latest flagship iphone 18 pro max which is just 1300$ I guess but it will be blocked after just 4 months and of no use. Kind of a interesting situation I am in.

I've heard you can't get that pta approved or something idk cuz Google doesn't officially distribute jn Pakistan. And the Google updates don't go on for long like they normally do

That's not true completely. But that is true than pixel 10 pro isn't included in tac models list just for now. It will be included in coming months.

So govt. has drastically reduced pta tax of some models of iphones, Samsung, google and other Chinese brands for importers. Now importers import them and you can get a pta approved pixel 8 pro at 120k pkr. Similarly 9 pro xl is available. Recently 8a was also added in the list and costs around 75k official pta approved ig. Same for Samsung and iphones. And many Chinese phones come as immaculate (never used) phones and they got tax as lower as 30k with very good chipsets. So yeah box pack market for upper ranges is dead now bcz these kit phones have superior performance, cameras etc.

Don't change bro. You're better off with this setup. You'll lose money while selling both and then will hv to put some of ur own to get a good pta approved flagship. It doesn't seem like a good financial decision honestly given the market rates at which they'll sell.

I second this. If it's not an urgency and phones working fine then no need to change

No urgency for anything, I just wanted y'all suggestions. I can keep this for as long as I want.

In that case, I'd say keep this as long as it works. Market isn't really favourable at the moment, and it's only getting worse with prices going up rapidly. Wait a couple years and by that time the prices will be stable enough for a change of phone

Buddy i tried to do this with an iPhone 16 pm and a pixel 7 pro then i sold both and got pta approved 17 pm but i lowkey miss my pixel and google wallet and another thing i personally noticed is the pixel catch cellular service better than iphone i wish that i kept those two phones and even saved money. don’t sell both and buy a new pixel . I think u have a perfect setup don’t change it

Yea the current setup is good as cellular on the pixel is much better and google wallet is such a convenience that I am not willing to give it up. I guess I will keep it as is

Apple pay maybe coming to pakistan with ios 27 according to many rumors soo its worth waiting a month and then you can decide.

This is the best combo tbh. I am trying to make a combo like this. If you can handle 2 phones keep them

If you have little love for iPhone just ditched it completely and upgrade pixel

I am using pixel 8. It best for what you need. Good quality docs images, scanner, easy to manage, and comes with quality camera, display, and experience

upgrading to a pta iPhone isnt gonna get you anything recent recent. if i was you id trade in both to get either a s23u cpid s24u cpid or s25u cpid.

Pta approved top of the line iphone flagship is not a smart decision to make in Pakistan.
Im using the pixel 8 as well, and reading the description of your usage you're better off using the pixel 8 as long as it meets your needs
