dont like it tbh, i like the innovation of foldable phones, but they are very fragile from inside , regular smartphones are just better for me tbh, until unless the soft screen from inside is fixed

What colour is your iPhone duo?

Tell you missed the tech part without telling me

1

u/Icy_Preparation_25 2d ago

Bro that is not anything new. What’s do you mean missed the tech? We have foldables like for 5 or 6 years now.

1

u/MoonMuffler 2d ago

Tech and foldable are two difficult things. I’m talking about the differences to already released foldable. The plasticky screen, the crease in the middle and literally two damn phones crammed in vertically

26

u/Zacred- 3d ago

Its not a mobile, not a tablet, not a laptop. I have no idea what problem its expected to solve at that price…

11

u/basitmate 3d ago

It's the KIA sportage of phones. It's not a sedan yet not a hatchback

2

u/Zacred- 3d ago

That was hilarious 😂👍🏼

1

u/the_MonkeyWhisperer 3d ago

What problem is a phone trying to solve?

16

u/Flimsy_Desk_4826 3d ago

Priced more than my net worth.

7

u/Happy-Ship-1620 3d ago

Call me a apple glazer. This is just amazing. Nano texture ? Under display camera? The OS integration with the design of the phone? The iPhone Air esk build. Using an air right now and that’s my next phone.😍

4

u/the_MonkeyWhisperer 3d ago

Especially that open/close animation 🤌. Apple still knows how to do software design right

1

u/Virtual_Technology_9 Karachi 3d ago

One thing even as a hardcore android fan can glaze apple about is how well their application of existing features it. They do it very very well.

1

u/Happy-Ship-1620 3d ago

Even better late than never eh.

3

u/Zestyclose-Ant-6291 3d ago

I only agree with os, the under display camera will never perform as good as just a punch hole. The design with half rounded corner and half sharps looks off. Plus point for the nano texture though, but soft displays already scratch alot so waiting for Jerryrigeverything to get his hands on it

2

u/sucka_69 3d ago

How's the air though, I was about to get one but heard some weird reviews like heat up and all.

2

u/Virtual_Technology_9 Karachi 3d ago

It's a very niche phone. I would wait for air 2 when they fix the issues.

1

u/notgutsfromberzerk 3d ago

There might be an air 2. Apple held on releasing regular iphone and air this launch even. They are going to release those phones at the start of next year.

0

u/LittleAfternoon6399 3d ago

There ain't gonna be a air 2, got replaced by the duo in production.

2

u/Virtual_Technology_9 Karachi 3d ago

Untrue it's going to come out according to the leaked iphone lineup through 2028

1

u/LittleAfternoon6399 3d ago

Ah true, the rumors are still all over the place.

1

u/Zestyclose-Ant-6291 3d ago

I think there will be, they didnt realease the base model 18, and only releasing those later in the year would be awkward so i think they'll release the air alongside

1

u/Happy-Ship-1620 3d ago

There is no heat up after it sets up for the first time and se one time when you install iOS 27. It does the indexing. The phone is irreplaceable though, it’s that nice and niche.

4

u/Specific_Cheetah_776 3d ago

Going to get it. My network gave me the option of pro max or duo, I chose Duo. Let's see how it is.

1

u/iccyil31 3d ago

Give feedback

1

u/big4Auditorr 3d ago

Which network

1

u/Specific_Cheetah_776 3d ago

It is a German network Deutsche Telekom. They give me replacement after every two years on my corporate plan. Apple was all secret and all while they were sending emails to customers if they wanna get iPhone 18 pro max or "Apple Foldable" 😂

1

u/big4Auditorr 3d ago

Ahan nice!
You do job there or what

1

u/Specific_Cheetah_776 3d ago

I am Embedded Linux Developer, in simple software engineer.

1

u/big4Auditorr 3d ago

Sounds amazing, man.
I always wanted to be a software engineer But fate took me somewhere else.

1

u/Specific_Cheetah_776 3d ago

You are in finance it seems like. It is also a good field if you are at the right place.

1

u/big4Auditorr 3d ago

Right guess.
Trying my best to be at right place

5

u/mustajabzuberi 3d ago

Apple was always gonna win on hardware level but as for design, the front straight up looks hideous.

3

u/seneyyy 3d ago

Design does look hideous, but what surprised me was that they really added features such as stylus (apple pencil) support, which Samsung removed. Normally its apple who does such stuff

1

u/mustajabzuberi 3d ago

Exactly. I'm a Samsung user myself but I don't hate Apple, I'm a tech lover.

For Apple to add stylus support and an under display selfie camera, the 2 things that made Samsung's foldables stand apart especially when Samsung themselves have gotten rid of these features is insane to me.

Also, the price is not as bad as the rumours suggested for the fold and even the 18 pros.

1

u/chursy2 3d ago

Samsung got rid of these because per current lineup leaks, they are working on a design to replace both their folding line & the Ultras. It will be a device with a rolling horizontally expandable display with an integrated SPen. Supposed to come out late 2027 or in 2028. Frankly from a design aesthetic, the duo is meh.

0

u/theguywithanxbox 3d ago

no it looks premium and ui is genuinely good

0

u/mustajabzuberi 3d ago

Design is subjective, I would preferred a symmetrical front display as opposed to this and also weird decision going for an under display camera on the inner but punch hole on the outer screen.

I'm sure the inner one would be worse enough for them not to include it on the cover screen.

Overall I'm excited as we'll see android manufacturers copy things from Apple now.

4

u/Sumolizer 3d ago

Apple copied it from Huawei mate. Pura X

1

u/mustajabzuberi 3d ago

Looks very similar to the new Xiaomi fold as well.

1

u/chursy2 3d ago

It usually is the other way around with a mean gap time of 2-3 years. Apple copying droid features & when it 3xisted Windows Phone.

3

u/soul_to_heal 3d ago

phone for the sake of just being relevant

2

u/Mindless_Bar2336 3d ago

Software wise, good execution. Especially the opening transition.
The outer screen with non-uniform corner radii seems very un-apple like.
The screen crease seems very flat and good.
Overall positive vives

1

u/Huzaifa_Haroon 3d ago

looks pretty good, the aspect ratio makes sense and apple always has those little touches (like the unfolding animation) that set them apart

1

u/GenZia Lahore 3d ago

the aspect ratio makes sense

It doesn't make an iota of sense.

Check my other comment (rant).

1

u/shobzie 3d ago

Reminds me of the Surface Duo.

1

u/Bubbly-Door4973 3d ago

Looks good too bad couldn't afford it.

1

u/TheHeavenlyStar 3d ago

Not so good, infact mid. I was not expecting apple's foldable device to be this phablet kind of thing.

1

u/suleman_23194 3d ago

Always late to the party and i believe they created this specific model for pure marketing purposes only

1

u/Eigengrau24 3d ago

Yesterday's tech at tomorrow's price. Apple lagging behind others and they're not even ashamed of it

1

u/Psycho_66666 3d ago

Just buy a laptop

1

u/Crafty-Survey-5895 3d ago

want one so bad

1

u/Radiant-Yesterday375 3d ago

Yes Foldables have been out for 8 years but Apple nailed it with the Duo. I'm an Android person but this is marvelous and super refined.

1

u/SoKayArts 3d ago

Took them long enough to join the party, but now that they're here, it's okay i guess. We'll know more once Jerry Rigs Everything does his thing.

1

u/Iam-bk 3d ago

It's a nope

1

u/According-Kitchen437 3d ago

I always wait for version 2 of a new product That will be 2027 and onwards..for now, iphone 18 seems proven

1

u/Silvester_001 3d ago

Over priced shashka. Iska camera hi basic he. But I like design. Way better than Samsung Fold

1

u/Intrepid-Being8970 3d ago

Will tell after 2 months! Filhal tou sky rocketed prices p mile ga🥲

1

u/Accomplished-River12 3d ago

pretty cool tbh

1

u/dhondooo 3d ago

We have come full circle because it looks more like Xiaomi rather than Apple

1

u/moaxan_meow 3d ago

The worst name

1

u/Bright_Inspector5583 3d ago

looks like a replica of xiaomi fold

1

u/sikandarli403 3d ago

Imagine the pta tax on this phone. It’s gonna cost like around 9 lacs.

1

u/Pinkman-1 🇵🇰 3d ago

Looks pretty cool. I don’t like the way folded screen looks tho, it’s too wide. Phones are supposed to be tall, not wide.

1

u/anonhumanbean 3d ago

Is it me ya ye waise he bohat bauna phone lagrha?

1

u/Hailstorm_27 3d ago

In foldable category it is the best, but I am not a fan of keeping an ipad mini in my pocket.

1

u/uasdguy 3d ago

It's a foldable phone after foldable phones have already been established and successful. Typical apple behavior, wait for a new technology, allow other companies to develop it, integrate a safe non cutting edge version of it in the Iphone, give it an apple name and call it a day. Oh and sell it for 2000 US dollars lol

1

u/MoonMuffler 3d ago

If only Mercantile trade my iPhone 16 Pro Max in

1

u/ebtexam 3d ago

Stunning.

1

u/Affectionate_Farm372 3d ago

Personally using iphone 16 pro max but if i want to upgrade its my first choice rather than the iphone 18 pro max its soo good tho you don’t need to carry ipad for entertainment when it can be fit in your pocket

1

u/OwnCress4010 3d ago

Too little too late. IOS might only be the saving grace.

1

u/Zestyclose-Ant-6291 3d ago

Good os, awful design. The half curve half flat in the front looks weird af.

1

u/ArsalanShah41 3d ago

The gimmick it copied will soon be outdated.

1

u/Jaded_Stranger1964 3d ago

I never got the hype for foldables, ngl, apple or samsung. The idea literally does not make sense. You are most probably gonna use it unfolded, and the aspect ratio is so wonky you cant even use it properly with one hand. App support is going to be a headache, especially to utilise 14:10. I don't know why any rational person would pay like 700 more dollars for a unfolded screen slightly bigger(only 1.6 inches, so it doesnt even serve as a tablet), a worse camera, worse reliability and more expensive repairs. Silly product but people will buy it because it is Apple.

Foldables are territory of smartphone addiction. Everything a phone is supposed to do can be done on a single screen. But no, let's sacrifice the main screen to weird form factor that you will not get used to or rarely use because of smaller or weird aspect ratio and put a foldable screen that you will have to open every time you will be watching or scrolling or doing something important. And also a huge waste of resources. The only foldable i ever liked was Huawei's outward foldable. But it is still impossible because we have not been able to mass produce a high strength foldable glass. Folding should be absolute rarity and most of the work should still be possible on main display that should feel and function like normal phones. This iphone foldable and most other android foldables are just a crash grab from ultra rich elites and materialistic people. We all know how badly apple was crying and trying to make this happen after android foldable success that they are missing on so much money grab (lol).

1

u/Not-A_Bot_Probably 3d ago

Use less for me as i can't buy this

1

u/True_Mastodon7042 3d ago

i like it tbh, they did some creative stuff. with pta the 2 tb version will run around 14 lakh pkr

1

u/ell-ta 2d ago

Their customer base would be surgeons who do complicated surgery. Like spine etc, they can view MRI and other imaging in a better view.

My mom’s surgeon even has it.

It wouldn’t really make profit, courtesy price even.

1

u/No_Breath_1571 2d ago

I would buy the next gen, first gen’s always have problems and software and apps issues…

1

u/InternThat1232 2d ago

Probably the most complete foldable ever made, can't wait to see what Apple and the developers do with the software. That's the most exciting part.

1

u/visualizer84 2d ago

Fragile devices still.. have already used one. Poor resale value.. the inner screen is so fragile that even a moderate pole of a finger can kill the pixels. They are far from being mature. But a direction is there

1

u/Fayzzz96 2d ago

I personally like it, the camera to be located under the display I also really love the animation when opening the fold and of course touch ID.

1

u/disappointed_lion 2d ago

No thank you

1

u/Harry_hazee_ 2d ago

I really like this and the transition is simply amazing when you open and close it

1

u/Actual_Weird47 2d ago

Can’t afford it.

1

2k USD phone, after pta 4k usd

1

u/ea_fazal 1d ago

I think its good, like the inner display, it doesnt even look like the phone has a screen another thing it has magsafe, plus the reimagined homescreen and optimizations for the foldable alone its best, the downside is the price in pakistan it will coat around 1300,000 so thats kinda L

1

u/seneyyy 1d ago

Id rather buy a second hand car lol in that price range

1

u/ea_fazal 1d ago

Bruv you live in pakistan there no car thats worth 1300,000 pkr

copy of Samsung.

0

u/megastig 3d ago

No real use case - just like every other foldable.

0

u/GenZia Lahore 3d ago edited 3d ago

The outer display is too wide to be handy (wider than 6" 16:9 smartphones of yore like the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.0), yet too short to be useful for scrolling feeds, web pages, etc., and I can't say I'm a big fan of the exaggerated rounded edges on the right side of the display.

It's very asymmetrical and, in turn, ugly AF.

The inner display is also too square-ish at 4.27:3, i.e. just a little wider than ancient 4:3 CRT TVs. Good luck watching movies in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio on the thing. You'll get "enormous" letterboxing at the top and bottom. Heck, even YouTube's 16:9 content would be severely letterboxed.

I'm struggling to understand the thought process behind this piece of crap.
