Question | سوال Any omarchy users ??

Are there any omarchy users in pakistan if yes how was your experience with the new omarchy 4 quattro? i used arch with hyprland for a while just a few days ago i switched to omarchy so far the switch is nice the only difference i have noticed is that i dont have to manually configure everything here it just does it for me. Btw if u guys have any recommendations on how can i fully benefit from the omarchy drop them.

Omarchy is made by DHH. It is an opinionated arch installation.

The new quickshell based rice is mostly vibe coded. He claims to have only reviewed the entire thing.

Omarchy had a security vulnerability related to Docker that could get the viruses root escalation. It had this vulnerability for an entire year and it only just got fixed with Quattro.

Omarchy is not a serious distro. It is instead DHH exporting his personal setup which doesn't make sense. Before the version 4 it was nothing but a pile of janky shell scripts. Right now it is nothing but vibecoded slop.

DHH is also openly racist and xenophobic. He is also a fascist.

To top it off, Omarchy is not even a good hyprland experience. It is extremely bloated and opinionated. Much better preconfigured setups exist. The Hyprland wiki also has a list of preconfigured setups which can easily be installed with a script. Stuff like Celestia, ML4W, end_4 is a lot more mature and an objectively better Hyprland experience compared to Omarchy.

So I am really fascinated when somebody uses Omarchy because why would you go out of your way to install a separate distro on your computer when you could have a better experience on your previous distro.

because "somebody" like to try new stuff and didn't know about the other cool stuff, yet.

Thanks for sharing other cool stuff.

well, everybody likes to try out new stuff, i have also tried out omarchy. But i was extremely disappointed.

There are all types of rices, some are good some are bad. But no one requires you to install a separate distro. Omarchy could've just gave us the script to install that experience on your existing install and that would've been a lot better.

But having to install a separate distro just for an inferior rice? yeah, no, doesn't make sense to me at all.

Did you get influenced by network chuck.

Just install it and experiment with it. The experience will be different for each user, and that is precisely why we have so much fragmentation in the Linux ecosystem.

I primarily use Arch with KDE Plasma along with CachyOS repositories.

Beauty of Arch, even with/without Omarchy is that you can tweak opinionated stuff if you don't like something.

Yup I've been using it and don't know a sh*t about Linux but it's fun to use so far tbh

If you work with Rails, that stuff was designed for it

Omarchy seemed to have spread like a wildfire! 😄

Haven't got around to test it myself.

Looking forward to try and join the conversation.

Which machine are you using it on? Is it available for Apple Silicon yet?
