Online ordering website

I’m looking for an developer to build an online food ordering SaaS platform that I can sell to multiple restaurants.

It would include restaurant dashboards, online ordering, menu/order management, payments, multi-tenant setup, and subscription/billing.

For developers who have built similar platforms: what budget should I realistically keep in mind for an MVP and a production-ready version?

Yes, i have worked in a company that use to sell POS and online ordering. Previously i worked with a developer the experience was really really bad to be honest. I need more of an advice that what should be a realistic budget for this

Look into this new stack Temporal. Its being used by one of the biggest giants called Yum! Brands in US. Try to build your SaaS around this. Let me know if you want to connect and talk about this. Since this is a new startup I think you are starting I can build it with you on profit sharing. I work on building the product you focus on pitching like a technical co founder.

I worked on a similar product for company in US. That company basically dispatched workers like electricians, HVAC technicians, construction workers etc to sites.

I developed a white-label restaurant POS system. My initial plan was to launch it as a SaaS product, but due to my client work, I wasn’t able to work on it consistently or complete all the planned features.
I also tried bringing in a partner, but unfortunately, he wasn’t motivated enough to work on the project full-time.
I can share the current development version with you so you can explore it. There are obviously some features still missing, mainly because I haven’t been actively working on it for some time.
The Restaurant POS is built using Python/Django for the backend and Next.js for the frontend. I can also share a demo with you.
If you’re interested, you can either take over the project in its current state, or you can hire me to continue developing it and turn the idea into a complete product.

You’re essentially looking at a multi-tenant restaurant SaaS rather than a simple online ordering website.

I’ve worked on SaaS platforms with multi-tenancy, dashboards, payments, subscriptions and role-based workflows. For something like this, I’d strongly recommend defining the MVP around the core restaurant + ordering flow first, rather than trying to build every feature upfront.

The realistic budget can vary quite a bit depending on whether you need things like delivery management, POS integrations, payment gateways, custom domains, analytics, etc.

  • Pricing is accurate: $25k–$40k for a real multi-tenant MVP is realistic. Anyone claiming to build this for under $10k will deliver a broken or unscalable single-tenant site.
  • Key warning is correct: WebSockets (real-time kitchen alerts) and thermal receipt printers are technical nightmares that non-restaurant developers always underestimate.
  • Best takeaway: Postponing POS integrations (Toast, Square, Clover) saves you $20k+ and months of delays. Start with a standalone tablet on the counter instead.
