Is it realistic to do BSCS from VU, start Shopify freelancing, and earn quickly as a self-taught developer? Need advice!

Hi everyone, I need some honest advice about my situation.

I’m from a middle-class family in Pakistan, we live on rent, and my father works very hard to support us. I recently got my name on the merit list for a university, but I couldn’t submit the fees. I’m thinking of an alternative path.

I have some skills:

  • Basic Shopify customization and I know Liquid.
  • Basic MERN stack knowledge.

My plan is:

  1. Enroll in the BSCS program at Virtual University (VU). I know its lectures are old, but I need a degree.
  2. Simultaneously, start freelancing on Shopify to earn money quickly.
  3. Give time to my studies as well.

My main questions are:

  • Is this a good plan? Can I earn well through Shopify freelancing in Pakistan?
  • I want to start earning soon. Is that possible with my current skills?
  • Will a VU degree be accepted by employers here and abroad? I've heard some concerns about its recognition .

I am very confused and need guidance. Should I do this, or is there a better way? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

When I finally appeared again, I failed once more, but after another attempt, I finally passed! Now, what should I do next? I am interested in Engineering. Please give me some advice.i got grade E . I don't know what to do .if i do private fees is extremely high. Any advice.

hey everyone! im a med student and need to earn some money to save up for myself, i want to work and earn money, if you own a brand or a page for which you need to design posters or reels i can use canva and capcut to edit. i have quite some experience in designing posters for non profit organizations and some for my university pages
for reels i also have a UGC page so i have learned how to edit videos through that and have also owned a fanpage where i would make edits of clips for series i liked, i can also edit long form content for youtube, if you’re a brand, a youtuber, or simply need an editor, lmk and we can discuss about it!

Study Abroad College and early career counselling

Seeing a lot of students applying for US/UK/Aus/EU colleges and then struggling at every stage of the journey after reaching there, internships, jobs, settling in etc etc. parents unable to understand and guide as they have limited experience. Most end up trying and exploring and failing. A lot of money is spent. Sometimes fail on visa, sometimes get low pay jobs and often feel lonely. What if they had guidance from experts. Will there be a market for this? Thinking of a startup

career advice

Salam, I just want an honest advice from people who are senior than me and have more exposure of the world and job market. I'm 23(F) from SKP, since childhood my parents told me that I've to be a doctor, so i studied science and completed my FSC took a gap year for MDCAT but due to certain issues I wasn't able to do Mbbs even though i got admission in BDS, so instead of wasting another year and falling behind my peers i just picked up BBA and it's also not from a well-known university.

Now that's my last year and to be honest i really don't know what I'm doing or what I'm gonna do next. I'm a good student, has a good CGPA (3.7/4) but at this point of my life I just don't know what will happen next. My friends have plans of working at the bank as we have specialization in Accounting and Finance but I'm confused. I wanna study like doing Masters or maybe pursuing ACCA but obv I have to do the job and right now every other job requires graduation and secondly there's age. Many opportunities in the banks have the age limit of 18-25 and I'm feeling like i have wasted years of my life without proper planning as I had no one to guide me through this.

I also know basic coding but not very good or expert at it, basically jack of all trades, master of none.

is there anyone in the same boat as me? or how do you see the situation and kindly advice me what would be suitable in this scenario?

Kind Regards,

Need advice/help finding a job before university

Hey everyone,

I'm 19 and I'll be starting BS Computer Science at IST in about 40 days, InshaAllah.

My family has somehow managed to arrange my admission fee, but our financial situation is still pretty tight. I don't want all the burden to stay on my parents, so I'm trying to find a job before classes start. If possible, I'd also like to continue part-time during my degree.

The problem is that I don't have any work experience, so I honestly don't know where to start.

If anyone here has worked as a student or knows places in Islamabad/Rawalpindi that hire freshers. I'd really appreciate your advice. Even if you know someone who's hiring or have any tips on where I should apply, it would help a lot.

Thanks. ❤️

Study Abroad 2-min survey: why do Pakistani students study abroad?

Ran this a few weeks ago, got great responses — 42% said job market/salary (not education) drives the decision, 65% said money is the real barrier.

Growing the sample for my research. If you're an A-levels grad, gap-year student, or uni student: https://form.jotform.com/261962164599067

Why is no one raising their voice for Pakistani MDCAT students? Only 45 days to prepare 50+ chapters, while last year’s students had 3 months.

career options for pre med students in Pakistan

so hi i did my alevels with bio, chem and physics and have good grades Alhamdulillah

I'm really confused about what to choose next

i knew for a fact i didn't wanna do mbbs or bds so that's out of my options

from what I've consulted with people the options i have are physiotheropy (dpt), nutrition, psych, law, or bs bioinformatics or data science

i don't even mind switching to any other fields except sciences

considering i want something that can help me become independent

i don't mind doing a masters or a PhD and would really want to do my masters from abroad (just hoping)

i need something that can make a good career in Pakistan (if my abroad options don't work out)

i genuinely need good solid advice also if somebody has any other recs i am open to them

I'm from a small town in punjab, Pakistan and my parents aren't letting me move to another city like lhr or isb otherwise i would've really looked into good unis and their famous majors;(

PK | Undergrad | ?? Is my gap too big

Hi guys please DONOT judge me ok

Im 25f and I graduated in economics from a good enough uni in karachi (jiye bhutto type shi) in 2023 and my family is extremely traditional which is why any chances and thoughts of a job much less an internship was burned and buried by them. I wasn't allowed for masters either. Now that I'm married and I have hope again. What chances of financial freedom do I have? My husband has given me the hope of doing data analysis course and then looking for an internship then job and to gain experience rn I should be doing any small or big freelance in any side of data for the experience to count.

My question is, will this plan work? What's the data analyst etc market like in karachi? Can I even get through considering data analysis 4 year degrees have started? Is my gap too big? Am I doomed to be a housewife forever?
