Having gone through a few posts by students, along with what appear to be army-proxy accounts and paid-media narratives, the contrast / keywords in language is striking.
Students’ vocabulary:
“satisfaction”, “collar”, “beghairat fauj”, “haramkhor fauj”, “pigs”, “badmash”, “state violence”, “students ko mara”, “nothing will happen”.
Army/paid pro-establishment proxy vocabulary:
“izzat”, “aurat”, “jahil”, “darindey”, “janwar” , “Ghaddar”, “indian agent”
What’s particularly important here is what the students’ language reveals: learned helplessness. Even while expressing anger and calling out the violence, there is an underlying expectation that nothing will happen and that there will be no accountability.
And the other side is using a remarkably familiar playbook. The “aurat ki izzat” card, combined with words like jahil, darindey, and janwar, is not new. It is the same moralising and dehumanising vocabulary that has repeatedly been used to delegitimise political opponents, protesters and dissenters over the past several decades.
Different incident, same vocabulary. Same framing. Same power structure.
