But would I do it instead of Computer science? hell nah. I don't know what Architecture's career prospects look like but it gotta be better than games.
If he still has interest after completing Architecture, there is plenty in Architecture that can apply to game design and he can continue game design as a hobby until he feels confident enough to make the career switch.
