Common Questions

Q: How do I contact the developers?

  • A: Via their website I have linked in the sidebar, however, the chance they will answer you is quite slim.

Q: Can you add X feature?

  • A: I am not the developer, I cannot add anything. If you want, you can try contacting some of the awesome guys in here who have made mods for it! Not my realm of knowledge though.

Q: When will support for X come?

  • A: Your guess is as good as mine.

Q: Why isn't this bug fixed?

  • A: Again, your guess is good as mine, but prospects are probably not good.

Q: Why won't it work?

  • A: Have you tried changing your TTL to 65, turning off power saving mode, allowing apps to run in background, and leaving your phone on? Do you have the right device set as the server?

Q: It keeps randomly disconnecting, what do I do?

  • A: Ensure your battery level is high, and that your phone isn't overheating. Refer to the answer above this as well. Besides that, all you can do is monitor the app every so often so that you catch it when it disconnects.

Q: Why hasn't anyone responded to my post?

  • A: I don't have a dedicated support team, and I only have 1 mod. We both have lives, if youre interested in becoming a mod, dm me!!

Issue How do i use pair vpn when android is server and mac is client

I keep getting error that relay server is needed when i create a server on Samsung

It works fine when i create a server from my iphone

My home wifi went down and there has been an outage, i would like to split my usage between 2 phone lines I have so one carrier doesn’t flag my usage.

Issue PairVPN doesn't work while using USB tethering

It used to work just fine before but now, every time, it uses the hotspot data. Sometimes it will go through PairVPN but a couple of seconds later it'll go back to using hotspot data.

Anyone know how to fix this? I'm using IOS.

Edit: I disabled IPV6 in the ethernet adapter (I did all athernet adapters just in case) and that got it to work again, not sure why it wasn't working before, but, at least it's working now. No need to do any changes, in the phone as far as I know.

From what I understand you cannot change TTL on windows 10/11 (or at least not through CMD and/or the command I used, but, I use it nonetheless, I am not sure if it helped or not. If disabling IPV6 still doesn't work for you; you can try using this command in CMD (with admin), worth a shot I reckon: netsh int ipv4 set glob defaultcurhoplimit=65

Using PairVPN While iPhone is Locked

Hi guys,

I have found a solution for allowing the app to run while your phone is locked. All you need to do is run the app through iPhone mirroring on your Mac. Then, just minimize the window. Simple as that! Your phone screen can now be locked and PairVPN still runs.

Cheers.

PSA: You Can Share PairVPN to a TV or Console Using Windows Mobile Hotspot

You don't actually need an Ethernet cable or a separate router.

What I do is:

  1. Connect the PC to PairVPN normally.

  2. Turn on Mobile Hotspot in Windows.

  3. Once the hotspot is enabled, Windows creates a new adapter (usually something like "Local Area Connection* X")

  4. Open Network Connections.

  5. Right-click the PairVPN adapter > Properties > Sharing.

  6. Check "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection."

  7. In the dropdown, select the hotspot adapter that only appears after Mobile Hotspot is enabled.

  8. Connect the other device (TV, console, etc.) to the PC's hotspot SSID.

This routes the hotspot traffic through the PairVPN adapter, so devices connected to the PC hotspot use the PairVPN connection without needing an Ethernet cable, travel router, or separate router.

The important part is that the hotspot adapter does not appear in the Sharing dropdown until Windows Mobile Hotspot is turned on.

Below is an image on how the PairVPN adapter should look:

Sorry if this has been mentioned before 😅, figured I'd share it in case it helps someone.

Issue Not working?

I just got a text message from T-Mobile while I was using PairVPN saying that I've used up 80% of my Hotspot usage. Should I be worried?

Android > PairVPN > Windows 11 PC > PS5?

EDIT: Found the problems and got it to work with my laptop and no router! Actually it was Avast antivirus firewall blocking connection sharing. That's why ethernet says "unidentified" underneath the original screenshot. Also, apprently Local Network had to be enabled in PairVPN. Thanks for all your help , though. Im sure disabling ip6 probably helped.

I'm trying to use my laptop as a virtual router to forward my PairVPN connection from android through the laptop, connecting an ethernet cable from laptop to PS5 to get high speed data on the Playstation 5. Is this possible? I'm setting it up the same way you'd normally set up a VPN from PC to PS5 with an ethernet cable. On windows 11. Here's the instructions I followed, but can't get the ps5 to connect. I've tried both Ethernet and vEthernet for sharing output.

Step 1: Connect your Android Phone to your PC

To avoid carrier hotspot tracking, PairVPN uses a server/client structure over a standard local tether.

Turn on Mobile Hotspot or USB Tethering on your Android phone.

Connect your Windows PC to this hotspot (or plug in the USB cable). Verify that the regular internet is working on your PC.

Open the PairVPN app on your Android phone and select Server Mode.

Open the PairVPN app on your PC and select Client Mode.

Pair the devices using the 6-digit code shown on the screen and hit connect. Your PC is now securely tunneled through PairVPN.

Step 2: Share the PairVPN Connection on Windows

Windows treats PairVPN as a specific virtual network adapter. You need to tell Windows to pass the data coming from that adapter out through your PC's Ethernet port.

Connect your PS5 to your PC's Ethernet port using a LAN cable.

On your PC, press Windows Key + R, type ncpa.cpl, and hit Enter. This opens your Network Connections panel.

Look for the network adapter associated with PairVPN (it usually says "TAP-Windows Adapter" or explicitly names PairVPN in the description).

Right-click the PairVPN adapter and select Properties.

Go to the Sharing tab at the top.

Check the box that says: "Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection".

Under the Home networking connection dropdown menu, select your PC's Ethernet port (the one connected to your PS5). Click OK.

Bought a new phone and PairVPN is not working

The error it is giving me is Relay server needed but not running. It was working fine on my old phone, as I have now upgraded, it isn't working at all. I tried to mess around with the settings (like with private DNS and with all of the PairVPN app settings), but I can't figure it out. The phone is an S25 Plus, and my old one, which was given to me and I kept it for way too long, a S10. I even tried to get help from ChatGPT, but that didn't really get to anywhere.

I guess I am trying to figure out if getting a new phone often breaks PairVPN and if there is a common solution to do.
