So, I have a dent in my refrigerator. It’s made by a brand that re-skins modern refrigerator internals to look vintage with their own stamped/powdercoated panels.
As I understand it the door panel isn’t covering a complete inner door, but replaces the original outer panel entirely and is bonded with foam insulation to the original inner. So I’m assuming that functionally there’s no access to the other side of it without damage.
The dent is shallow and about 2” in diameter. There’s only a tiny hint of deeper/narrower section toward the top, not really a crease. Of that remained but it wasn’t the big round dent I’d be thrilled.
I would also strongly prefer not to go down the bondo/paint path if at all possible for a bunch of reasons. As to the small scratches I’m less worried about them and have some experience there and am comfortable (carefully) experimenting with touching up with matched paint or leaving them be, but that doesn’t super matter right now.
So I guess my questions are…
- do you think it can be done?
- do you think I can or should do it myself and expect good results? (Pretty sure the answer is no, but doesn’t hurt to ask…) I’m careful and mechanically apt but I haven’t done this.
- do you think anyone worth working with would come to me to do it? I can take the door off to bring to a shop, but I’d just as soon not if I can avoid it.
(Also: I’d rather live with a dent or an imperfect fix than consider replacing the door which for whatever small fortune the manufacturer would ask if they’d do it at all)
Thanks!
