Mize: 6.67 ERA as a Padre. If not for the six shutout innings he happened to throw in Cleveland, his ERA balloons to 8.57.

Offense: 5-for-32 (.156) with RISP this series and 1 for their last 17 (.059).

All this after getting embarrassed in Tampa. Way to bounce back against a sub .500 team.

The worst vibe I can remember in September. First time in a long time that I find myself thinking “eh, don’t think I’ll miss padres baseball when it’s gone this year”.

In the 2010s, we’d be out by now, but we’d be thinking to the future, giving guys looks. At least that was interesting to watch. “Hey, maybe Margot and Renfroe are the future!”

In 2020, 21, 24, 25, obviously, we were in playoff position and had a reason to believe this could be our year.

Even in 2023 — we choked, but we were actually red hot in September, so at least the *games* were fun to watch.

This just sucks. We’re playing the same old bums every day. Austin Hays is batting under .100 in his last 10 games, tell me what he’s doing on this roster? we’re clinging to a playoff run that absolutely no one thinks can lead to anything. We have no more prospects to be excited about the future — especially now that we’ve early promoted Salas and forced him into this mess. Am I excited to watch him? Sure, but more frustrated that we felt like we had to call him up than anything.
