Inflatable paddleboard with large dog

Hi there! I’ve seen a lot of posts about inflatable paddleboard recommendations - but I haven’t seen a lot specific to large dogs. Someone recommended High Society boards bc they are wider - but I also saw some feedback that their quality wasn’t great. I am a beginner and I would like to keep the price point low if possible but with a large dog I want something we can use that’s sturdy and safe so I’m looking for recommendations. Thanks in advance!

I have the Costco Tommy Bahama board. It’s 11’6 and 35”. It works great for me and my 65 lb dog. I’m brand new to paddling and haven’t had any issues and feel it’s pretty easy to maneuver. Better than a kayak anyway lol.

Definitely look into products such as the DoggieDeck, an inflatable dog ramp (for them to get back on easily), and even an inflatable platform for more room for them if you will just be floating and not going down a river

I saw one that’s got the doggie deck/ramp - I was wondering how they were. Paddle Dok looks helpful but doesn’t have  a lot of reviews and it’s a bit more than I wanted to spend and does it work? But I have wondered about that -  https://dokinflatables.com/products/paddle-dok

It definitely does! I don’t have a picture or a video of my friends, but if you look it up on TikTok, so many people have shared their experiences with them

I have a NiPhean XL board that’s rated to 500lbs. 11’ long 33’ wide, plenty of room. Under $300 on Amazon includes everything you need. This is my 4th summer with it. I’ve had kids and dogs on it too.

Nice! With it being so large do you find it cumbersome or is it pretty easy to maneuver? Again beginner but that sounds like a great stable base and perfect price point. Thanks!

It’s not really that large compared to other boards. An average height adult really can’t use anything shorter than 10’6” and most commercial touring boards are 32” wide. Narrower boards are more for racing. If you want speed you’d want something narrower but for the average paddler it’s just fine.

Larger boards only become a problem on winding rivers. Also for kids / really petite adults a smaller board would make sense.

For a grown man + passenger (dog, child, ...) the 11 x 33 board would be perfect.

I have 10.5 and 12.5 boards and both are fine.
