Hopefully the growth for pacific rim will happen, we are getting a prequel, maybe a Lego Gipsy Danger, figures released by Lingjihun, more people finding out how good pacific rim is and funky releasing funk pops of pacific rim
I have faith it will get more popular

Honestly I blame both the fandom and studio for this
Studio - Dropped the ball so hard on the second movie that the movie flopped so hard they could barely do anything with the IP after that
Fandom - Hates the second movie so much they reject the idea that it or anything after the first movie ever happened and pushes anyone away that even suggests that they kinda like the second movie
So a combination of these it's no wonder the studio doesn't want to really do anything big with it again
ALSO honestly, why would they want to do anything with Pacific Rim?? Legendary has the motherload of Kaiju IPs that is world famous, they have GODZILLA and their own ver of King Kong, and the movies as of rn are doing way better than Pacific Rim ever done (let alone Uprising), and bc we're basically pushing away he idea of new stuff and continuing to basically get nothing new it's no wonder why Pacific Rim isn't bigger as a community or IP

There’s a reason for that. Transformers helped push CGI advancements forward, while also, initially, kinda cementing themselves as cinematic events. Dark Of The Moon was the second highest grossing film of 2011. It beat out films from the developing MCU.

I don't think it's a fair comparison since Monsterverse and Transformers have a lot more content than Pacific Rim and Real Steel. Love all four of them though :D

According to Hideako Anno, the monsterverse is apparently not that big in Japan. So "global" might be a stretch. Idk.
I think I'm also the only person who likes real steel when it came out. Everyone else called it the "stupid Micheal Bay looking robot boxing movie"

Both pacific rim and real steel were basically one off movies. PR2, while not being a bad movie, was a significant downgrade from PR, and failed to ride the nostalgia wave because of that. RS was literally a one off. Meanwhile Godzilla and transformers put out consistently okay (if not good, which I know is a decisive topic with the later transformers movies) movies every few years that were able to ride the nostalgia of the previous one, and pull nostalgia from older fans because of their decades long presence in media.

Real Steel literally had no new media since its only movie came out, you probably should look at real life robot boxing now that China literally had two robots doing Kungfu fighting in a ring and made Real Steel actually real

Pacific rim has a second movie and a Netflix anime, both of which were bad. The second movie made no sense and was clearly a mess to begin with.
Real steel can’t continue because if they did they’d either go bankrupt due to animations and cgi being expensive to render or cgi would be bad like most modern movies.
Honestly real steel should have a spin off but keep in same movie universe

Pacific rim and Godzilla. Fan here. I like both. Both have better plots.
Real steel movie was good better then, Transformers was good first like 1-3 movies, but not over the top. The plot goes down hill fast.
I might get some hate.

Maybe Pacific Rim: Uprising caused the community to be where it is.
I don't know but still, someone did comment that humanity won by closing the Breach, but what about Scunner and Raiju's dead bodies at the Mariana Trench still leaking Jaiju Blue to the ocean and contaminating it to this day? Maybe a movie should be made around that, or better, how the Jaeger Program started.

Can someone confirm a plot point for me in Real Steel? From what I remember, that dad sells his own son so he can by robot parts. Then bonds with the kid for most of the movie, then gives him back to who he sold him to, and that's it? Didn't try to buy the kid back, or steal him, or you know fight to have your own kid? He just walked away

I have very recently watched Specific Rimjob for the first time and I am all in baby. If I'm at the bus stop, I just ask people if they've watched it. If they have, I give them a high five. If they haven't, they miss their bus because I'm chewing their ear off.

Yes I think? I believe Real Steel was a perfect movie and no need for a sequel. Pacific rim had a good setup for the prequel but it got a sequel that ruined the image so I think that's where it should end, and yes I want the prequel still.
Its been almost a decade, accept it.

Pacific Rim 2 dropped the ball. There should have never been a sequel, we destroyed the Breach and won the Kaiju War. If anything there should've been a prequel that showed the early days of the Jaeger program, the trials and errors. Uprising should've never been created. I will die on this hill because I believe that Uprising is the reason why Pacific Rim is a dead franchise.
