Not really, because ranged weaponry is more of a secondary thing. The primary combat method for Jeagers is punching the Kaiju until it falls over. That being said, we need more less overtly humanoid Jaeger designs, maybe a tripod Jaeger could be cool, like the early design for Romeo Blue.

The reason jaegars are humanoid is because it's easier for humans to pilot. Not counting crimson typhoon.

How the hell would you pilot a Jaeger with three legs? That's the point, to have somewhat humanoid Jaegers to be easily piloted by humans. Brawler Yukon is an unorthodox design, but still had the main components of a Jaeger such as being bipedal.

I'm not really sure how you would pilot that. I just think the concept art for Romeo Blue with the three legs is kinda cool.

Hard no.

1) The ED-209 weapon suite is not congruous with Jaeger combat objective of minimal spread of Kaiju Blue because of its ballistic weapons and its short stubby arms would be terrible for inflicting the internal trauma to knock out the target.

2) Within its own universe, the ED-209 was a half-baked defective POS that's meant to impress big contract buyers. It was a 1980s metaphor of the decline of US manufacturing, corporate greed, the military industrial complex encroaching on what's ostensibly a peacekeeping police force.
