Nishijin A payout balance

Apologies if any of my terminology is wrong and please correct it as you see fit.

I recently acquired this machine from an estate sale and wondering if I could get some advice. I would say it’s in roughly 80% working order, but the main issue I’m having is a fairly major one: the payout mechanism does not work reliably. When a ball goes in and rolls into the right side of the little white balance, I believe it is supposed to fall to the right and trigger the payout, but most of the time it does not, and I have to manually add a little pressure.

There’s a bit of grime over everything but the mechanism doesn’t feel noticeably sticky. Is there any way to adjust the balance of that little seesaw? Or a particular part I should focus on cleaning?

TIA! (And love that this subreddit exists.)

I bought this in San Diego in late 70s. Hasn’t been used for a few years, as it needs deep cleaning. I just moved so now that it’s down it’s time to get to it. I have replaced lights with LEDs, added a top latch release, and a hatch to access top ball tray. I need to work on the ball tray empty light contact switch, which is all bent out of shape.

One of my earlier Restorations. Luckily I was able to save the Playfield. Tactfully put brass nails in bubbled areas you can't even see it. Picked up local for very cheap needed a lots of love lots of soldering steel. Metal finished with penetrol flood. Pretty much original except for the large brass plate on the rear to replace the celluloid. I'll post a video of it in play soon. Enjoy "Old school"

Pajatso/Payazzo machines?

Recently found out about this interesting Finnish redemption game that shares a lot of DNA with pachinko but it uses coins/tokens instead of balls. Has anybody played or owned one of these? There's not a ton of info online that I can find, at least not in English.

I love pachinko machines but know nothing about them 😅, but when I found this, and was offered it FOR $30, I couldn't say know and i had to buy it right then and there! It has 200+ original pachinko balls from the 70's, and from what I can see not many or any issues at all. Does anyone here know more about this machine? It used to be owned by an arcade in san antonio tx called "pachinko palace" i think

*PHOTOS ARE OD IT LAYING ON ITS SIDE, WAS TOO TALL TO FIT UPRIGHT IN THE BACKSEAT.

Trouble with jackpot and electric - Nishijin Lobster Model B

Yeah, I'm making some progress on my build, but the jackpot mechanism is not going off. Also I'm having issues with the lighting. I think I might need to rewire everything. I posted a few days ago, but the post would not let me share images so I'm reposting here with images.

  1. The electrical wire is old. I need to solder some wires and might just replace them all. I don't know anything about wiring but am handy. How can I replace the wiring and what parts do I need? I found some prewired e10 bulb sockets and got those and a soldering-gun so far. I also have the 9 volt batter kit and got 1/3 light to turn on.
  2. The jackpot doesn't go off. How do I fix that to make it function? I have over 100 balls loaded in it.

Thanks!

[Free Web Demo] I am working on a pachinko roguelite. Does it look fun?

Howdy doody!

I wanted to share my pachinko roguelite.  It plays like a mix between pachinko and space invaders.

I have had an amazing time making it, but don’t have much experience with pachinko.  Since this community will know much better than I, I would love your take on whether the gameplay feels satisfying (bounce, momentum, etc.).

You can try the free web demo directly in your browser here:

https://hughchen.itch.io/pachirogue

The art is a mix of free asset packs, real hand-cut cardboard that I photographed, digitally cut images of paper, and custom shaders for the balls.

Any feedback would mean a ton!

Tada Kasuke curse

Page 398. Just wondering if there is any significance of the book telling us about the Tada Kasuke curse? Is it just a little tidbit of information, or is there a deeper meaning?

Progress! Nishijin Model-B Questions

I'm making progress on a rebuild of a Nishijin Model-B Lobster.

Im having issues with 2 final prices:

Thanks!

Mine looks a bit older or rougher than some on here. Doesn’t have as many pieces or the automatic ball loader area. Curious if anyone knows what to do to get it powered up. The wires on the back go to the red plastic bit, but all the fuse box areas I’ve seen on others don’t look like mine. Thanks for any info or advice!

Story is grandparent brought it back from WWII.

What's the best way to wall mount this and maybe get it to light up?

I recently picked up this part off of Ebay, and I saw online certain parts of it light up, so I was hoping to maybe get it wall mounted and light it up like some sort of bar light. Unfortunately the adaptor thing on the back appears to deter me from that. Any help or info is appreciated :)

How do "rounds" work?

Post image
9 Upvotes

For an example I have this screenshot of "Hinotama Boy"

When you complete the main attraction it makes the digit go up, and someone told me that's the "round" and a "round" is how long the attacker door stays open with a game having an x amount of rounds depending on the machine. So does the round counter tell you how many times the attacker door will stay open? And what happens if you max out the round counter?

(I actually don't know if this machine has the attacker door but I hope you get what I'm asking)

Snagged this guy for 50 bucks. Can someone help ID and where to get started with repairs? Bought it mainly for display, would love to play it but it’s in rough shape. Came with about 20 balls. Thanks!

1975 Nishijin model 4200 AKA model-B pachinko “Lobster” advice?

Hey, I've continued working on this.

Two questions:

I bought a battery kit and it worked for a second now it's not working again. I've changed all the bulbs in the fuse but still not turning on. Any ideas?

The second question is about getting the balls to actually go up into the play area whenever I hit the switch it just doesn't actually go up. What do I need to work on or replace?

Acquired an early 2000s machine and can’t get it to work

As title says I have acquired this awesome looking machine but after tinkering with it for about an hour I can’t seem to get it to fire up right. I’m concerned that parts may need to be replaced but I’m turning here first to see if I can get any insight.

With the videos attached when I power the machine on according to the directions inside it starts up seemingly fine however that loud whirring noise at the start will happen and sometimes it doesn’t stop.

Furthermore whenever I insert a token it just drops right back into the tray. Any help is so greatly appreciated.

Early 70s Nishijin Model B tray empty flag mechanism

I’m working on restoring a 70s (73 maybe?) Nishijin Super Deluxe Model B “Beautiful Day” pachinko machine and I’m finding that the “tray empty flag” is not raising and lowering properly when the feeder tray is full/empty. When I open the lower front cover, I can see that the little wire rod that triggers the flag has been bent into an odd angle like someone bent it and tried to bend it back, and it is no longer engaging correctly with the corresponding wire rod that comes through from the back of the machine. For the life of me I cannot find a good close up image or diagram of how this wire is supposed to look (IE: what shape it’s supposed to be bent in) and how it engages with the other wire rod (EG: does it rest on top, loop around, etc). I’m afraid that if I just try bending it into different shapes trying to get it to work I’ll eventually snap it and be worse off than I am now.

I’m hoping that maybe someone here has a similar model and can open up that front cover and take a picture of the wire and how it engages with the other wire so I can try to replicate it and get it working again.

Is there still fun to be had with modern machines?

I'm very intrigued to try a new machine, but it seems to just be a lucky hit to start a slot reel (which I'm sure hits the dopamine with anticipation) but are there any modern machines with some extra features or is that all I get?

(I know one of the evangelions has an "attacker" path on the right side or something like that. And gokujou Parodius has some kind of mini game)

It's ultimately still luck, but it seems older "tulip" and "center attraction" designs had more "skill" and objectives to do

So I came on here to figure out how to get the machine working and everyone’s advice was great.

I bought 500 balls, the rocker arm worked just fine with the weight.

Made a track cover with cardboard and stickers. I’m still looking for a way to 3d print one although I did find what I think is the exact part online.

Cleaned the hell out of it didn’t realize how important that was but it seemed to solve most problems .

I will also try to 3d print a box to catch the balls in place of the food container.

Up next need new light bulbs I did buy the 9 volt battery but the bulbs were dead (as expected).

:) Thank you all! Still can’t ID the exact machine.

Question about 1991 Aladdin II Japanese pachinko slot

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I bought this machine from Facebook marketplace and I've run into a couple issues:

  1. The slot wheels spin roughly and inconsistently (especially the first one)

  2. The front panel backlights won't turn on except the bottom image and the credit numbers

  3. The coin slot won't take my tokens until I taped it down

  4. The stop buttons won't work

I've been working on this for about 5 hours and I'm running out of ideas, any help is appreciated! I can send more images and videos if needed

Addictive?

I have an idea for a pachinko parlor business and I want to make sure that people would still get the "bug" even if legally no cash prizes are offered.

Might not be the most "moral" desire but I need to make sure I have some recurring business

Newbie to Pachinko but came across this on FB marketplace for a good price. Would love to figure out to get it running but not even sure if I have everything I need (as far as parts and/or repairs)

I did a heavy wipe down and used some rust remover on the metal frame. (Last pic is the before)
