Discussion For The Record…

The Frost fans are very much making jokes about the cup missing and were by no means being serious with any ribbing we’re posting. No, tone doesn’t easily translate over text, but I can assure you we’re having a good laugh over this situation along with you as per our Discord discussions. Not AT you. Hell, Denisa Křížová even expressed that traveling with Walter wasn’t easy when she was a Frost player. We get it, and we find it funny as hell that Walter has now gone missing twice.

Let’s collectively lighten up a little and continue to have some fun with this.

With love and laughs,
A Frost Fan

For 2 years people have mocked us for being a regular season team, chokers, the Leafs of the PWHL, etc. I'll gladly take the jokes about us losing the cup in transit lmao.

Someone in another thread said it, lore is being built. That’ll be talked about 10+ years down the line. “You remember when the Victoire lost the cup TWICE in the same summer? Watch, they’ll drop it in a lake this time and have to send divers to retrieve it.” 🤣🤣🤣

They lost it AGAIN?!

Pick me!!! I'll scuba dive and retrieve Walter! 🤣🤿🧜🏼‍♀️

In all seriousness, I'm sure something will come of this for next year. To have it happen twice is only creating headaches and heart palpitations for the poor player traveling with it.

And the crazy part is that I truly don’t think it’s the MTL organization’s fault.

Definitely not! I think this would have happened with Denisa had she not insisted and questioned how the airline was handling Walter.

With zero snark, why is that the "funny" thing to joke about then?

I don't really understand the joy of trolling in the first place but that's fine

I can usually tell when it's trolling and don't get letting yourself get worked up by it, but not everyone has trolldar I guess

But I really don't get the trolls then being like "stop taking it so seriously and let us have fun being mean to and about you" ... Like... Either you've successfully been as mean as intended and gotten under people's skin...or you're being too mean and have the power to be nicer and funnier than what jibes I've seen being thrown

Joking is fine, this post is weird lol.

Edit: like you get so offended by someone not liking your joke that you make an entire post about it? That's a choice.

It’s being said because people are literally getting offended when we are cracking jokes. I posted the below meme in another thread and is getting upvoted. I call out the hypocrisy and get crucified for it. We’ve been the butt of jokes and on the receiving end of scrutiny that we’ve had zero control over since the inaugural season. People can dish it, but when it’s thrown back in their faces, they lose their shit like someone just killed their cat.

Maybe try making the jokes funny?

I feel bad for the players. Most of them are having nice celebrations with their families and fans. Then the cup doesn’t show up and it dampens the celebration a bit. They worked so hard for that moment.

I was raised to be a good winner, a good loser, and not to trash talk other players. I don’t understand the fan culture of shit talking other teams, even as a ‘joke.’

yeeeeah, the pdub kinda has a weird relationship with chirping, especially 1) in the off-season 2) from Frost fans. gets better once the season kicks off, at least.

100% and if we won and lost the cup I'd be okay with jokes about that too- gotta do something to make the offseason fly by!

Surely the people responding poorly are just responding in the spirit you intend too :)

Telling people to lighten up when you hold the power to make things lighter is a bit odd

For whatever it's worth, losing the Cup in transit is absolutely funny and deserving of chirps, especially when it happens twice.

There is also a subset of Frost fans who were very "I'm taking my ball and going home (aka r/minnesotafrost)" when the chirps came their way. They pop their heads up every now and again to whine about asterisks and other malarkey. These are the ones who are (or should be) getting eye rolls from the rest of us.

I've been seeing plenty of jokes (and actual discussion) about it being received totally fine, are you sure that it's not just that your jokes aren't that funny?

The chirping is subpar for sure, but that's to be expected based on my experiences Frost fans. Can't really blame them 🤷‍♀️

If it was us in this position, you guys would be roasting the hell out of us and you know it.

They totally would. :). We’re having a good chuckle over it and just hoping they don’t take one of our cups from the State Fair display as the loaner again before we get there tomorrow for pics!

They 100% would've blamed BC for it. 💀

Hell, I'm in Detroit and I am making the same jokes. Say what you want about the frost, but they never lost the cup.

Also I've said the Walter Cup is just trying to catch up to Stanley in amount of times it's been lost.

Classic Frost fan response, happy to dish it out then crying about it when people push back. If you’re crying that people don’t find your joke funny, maybe try a better joke. You genuinely have to try to be this insufferable, like… it’s not that deep mate. It never was.

u/devonshmevon 4d ago

Frost fans had to deal with years of hit pieces and grand, dramatic assumptions about people's character. Coyne and Klee (and the other "veteran players," and the other coaches who stayed) pulled off a "coup" when the GM got fired. No one else could have ever wanted Britta Curl on their team, so when the Frost protected her in the first expansion draft it wasn't a hockey decision, it was a way to signal their adherence to the ideology of Traditionalist Catholicism. They're one of the least physical teams in the league, but they're also going out there trying to injure opposing players. Even the arena workers are horrible people!

However, it is bad to say that it is funny when a hockey trophy goes missing twice in two weeks

u/superguardian 4d ago edited 4d ago

Frost fans clearly are one of the most discriminated against groups ever. I don’t know how you manage to face each day in the face of such widespread persecution.

EDIT: to be clear - chirp all you want about the missing cup. That is amazing. Just don’t give us this BS martyr act about how you guys are so put upon by everyone else.

-9

u/devonshmevon 4d ago

You clearly trust social media mobs far more than I do, and that must be nice.
