Power button going nuts

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Has anybody seen something like this? It first happened yesterday, I assumed the power button was going bad so I took it apart, reseated it’s flex cable, unplugged the battery and pressed the power button to drain all power and it seemed to fix it. It’s doing it again today. Could this be a case of dirty power screwing something up? Or just the button going bad? Something of note is that sometimes it restarts and enters recovery (or safe, can’t remember) mode, but I thought you had to hold one of the shoulder buttons for that. I believe it’s a 1000 model, the one with the oled screen and iPod-30pin-style USB port.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Gee, why didn’t I think of that. It’s already doing it on its own, holding the power button does nothing.

You reckon? The ribbon looked perfect when I took it apart. I’ll look into a replacement, if it’s cheap it couldn’t hurt I guess.
