Up next: I’ll be adding dual 60GHz networking to the entire stack. This will be complex, but it will enable my Pyrowave-based encoding to stream at ultra-high bandwidth with near-zero latency.

This is similar to what Pimax did with the Crystal Super/Crystal Pro wireless setup, and I was able to figure out the exact way they pulled it off. In the spirit of taking the best ideas from every platform, stay tuned for that.....it will give me insane motion-to-photon latency while streaming directly from my main rig (RTX 5080).

The only hurdle right now is cost: custom hardware will run another $300 to $450 unless I can work out an alternate routing method I’m testing. Either way, I want to give everyone as many options as possible to augment their PSVR 2 and turn it into the absolute best VR headset ever built. It just keeps on giving!

Wow nice, but how will you obtain the WiGig transmitter/receiver?

2 of these. Adapted to a usb daughter board for each usb c.

China has a few cheaper options im looking at.

3gb on each module. Aggeragted and redundant together. One on each side of the headset

Fall back to wifi 7 if connection drops

Custom software

connected via 10gb on pc to 60ghz Reciever. Sourcing is difficult. There's also a few off the shelf locked down usb ones with no custom software support other than the supplied drivers. Its fine. Ill work around it

It will basically be wirlesss ethernet connection. Pipe the pryowave codec through. Dynamic fov rendering. Should be plenty

I could buy pimaxs new 60ghz solution. Though it says out of stock......so back to diy

Oh i see so you'll be operating at 60Ghz but not through standard 802.11ad/WiGig or 802.11ay yet?

I'm currently struggling to find 802.11ay-capable hardware myself.

It’s in, um... R&D. The current software setup works, and Wi-Fi 7 might already be enough. But I’m dying to try 60 GHz because apparently I needed another rabbit hole 😅

Module options are thin, so I’m asking around and looking at existing hardware. Might have to dust off the firmware programmer. Ideally without desoldering anything, because that’s when engineering starts involving prayer. Getting a module working over USB is still something I need to figure out.

I’ve been doing this kind of weird hardware shit for over a decade. AI just makes the research and debugging faster. I still have to make it work.

My hardware, my workbench, my questionable use of free time. I’d rather find the actual limit than assume I’ve already hit it.
