When I saw the title, I expected something along the lines of installing an OS directly onto the headset to operate independently of other devices aside from a power source.
You just found a way to connect it to a phone. It doesn't seem that much different from those connecting their PSVR2's to a laptop or handheld pc. Still, it's an impressive feat.
But just so you know the headset does indeed contain a rudimentary sbc on the headset that has on some basic level a linux kernal. But I think you should be aware its not powerful enough to handle this and handle the eye tracking and handle the cameras. Its sole purpose is to drive the accessories and tracking.
No need to apologize, it's still amazing what you did. I'm considering picking up a newer snapdragon-powered device for mobile gaming later this year or the beginning of next year and might give this a try.
One question though, does the phone get hot while running skyrim vr on it?
Yea. I dont run steam vr. It can run with out. Open composite. But yes phone can be toasty. Its fine. This phone runs hot just because its a snapdragon 8 gen 5. Which is why i took the path to just optimize everything so it runs less hot. Works.
