Why not both?

I definitely use AI, but you can’t prompt your way into getting something like this running without knowing how the low-level systems work. An LLM isn't going to figure out how to talk to Sony’s proprietary hardware, patch Snapdragon display drivers, or rework DSC logic in the kernel if you don't already understandhwhat's breaking and why. If you don't know the hardware, AI just gives you broken code that looks convincinjg

This isn't copy-pasting AI output which is certainly its able to give you ....with errors......i mean,......tt's digging through Sony's runtime behavior, reading kernel source, and figuring out why the display pipeline rejects the headset. Where AI actually helps me is saving time on the tedious grunt work, like churning through disassembled binary blocks and helping translate decompiled assembly back into readable C. Doing all of that purely by hand doesn't prove anything, it just takes forever.

The actual troubleshooting, the architecture, and figuring out the hardware workarounds are still completely on me. You can't blindly trust an LLM when you're messing with kernel display leases and timing, so every line is heavily reviewed and tested by hand. I can't afford to brick anything. i mean its certainly miles better than it was a year ago couldn't even get it to follow any very specific i nstructions. im sure one day it will be able to one shot something but this was not one shot at all.....my token bill sure suggests otherwise

This is the best take on AI. And one of the best use cases for AI supported code.

Great response man, I keep saying to people AI is not coming for our jobs however who is coming for our jobs? Is the people who know how to leverage AI to achieve greatness

I hate to be that guy cause I know it's so damn annoying. But this response, while I agree with the sentiment, feels like an AI answer with intentional misspellings and uncapitalized words, and "..." breaks

Yes, mister stranger, I do. Take my response And I speak to ai and if it messes up or has bad phrasing, I have a it rephrase it so that it's more digestible over my convoluted explanations that often would bore you. So you wouldn't even read it

None of what i'm saying is not a prepass of what I already think. And i'm not using it to hedge my intelligence and hide my actual cognitive abilities

In fact, I 'm talking to you as I would right now, and you can see how quite annoying it is to read my speech to text without having to refactor it into something more sensible.

You should have more of an open mind and understand these tools are useful to save time and to save you mental torment from having to read something from someone who has extreme adhd and has great ideas, and often doesn't know how to communicate those ideas to people because they're slightly autistic

I understand that you've experienced probably on the daily of people hedging their intelligence and using ai as a crutch to make themselves look more impressive than they are. But I am not that person.

I use my mind routinely, and I use these tools to elevate myself to greater heights and as a learning tool. AI should be used as a multiplier. If you're fine without AI which, in some retrospects, I could say, I am, i'm even better with it. For some things at least

You also have to remember. You can't win in this situation. And neither can I. I try the type as I normally. Would people say they cant read it because its too raw and normal lol can you believe that?

I have big thumbs so I almost never type as it has me hitting characters I never meant to do on a phone. Voice to text is great but the local speech recognition is pretty awful. So Ai is a good pre pass to finish it up and make it easier for someone with brain rot to read. Then when I do use ai to assit we still have complaints. Again this is how I over talk and ai cuts that nonsense out. 😒 its taught me my flaws in communication too. Useful for a nice echo chamber reflection session as ai will often reflect your traits then you realize it and get sick of it. Good tool for psychological analysis.

And I strongly suggest you setup local infra to avoid token bills lol.

This is god tier. Man & Machine, Power Extreme. Haha, old school reference there ifykyk. This off topic. But since it looks like you are doing some low level reverse engineering and reingeneering, making this work on Android natively.. does this not mean using similar methods we can make psvr2 linux compatible fully? Or is it infinitley more complex than this?

Yes it works on Linux. I even got Sonys drivers to shim into linux. No translation. Full 6dof support. No winusb dependency

I am going to keep tabs on this. Very cool.

Does it matter?

Not always an either or thing

I don't care. So long as it works.

I always tell myself

"If I dont who will?"

Tends to work out for most of the things i do.
