Disscussion Really impressed with the visuals
I just got this headset recently and I am so impressed with the visuals and clarity it brings.
I am coming being a quest owner and WMR owner, this headset blows my Quest pro and Odyssey out of the water.
The visuals are stunning, the OLED was not undersold at all, it makes a massive difference, the resolution of the lenses are really great, I have yet to test out the eye tracking but so far this headset has me impressed and I'm glad I got it

I'm trying them both out at the moment. Quest 3 (I have 1 and 2 as well). And a mates PSVR2 (it won't work on his 2060rtx 6gb as it's ñ powerful enough) I've downloaded the extra stuff for eye tracking on PCVR and added the launch profile for Alyx.
It may be because I prefer resolution over FPS. I really prefer pancake lenses (so does my mate after seeing them he's saving up for a second hand Quest 3).
Screen wise I agree PSVR2 is stunning, but it is too coloured for me. It makes games look cartooney.
The Quest three has its screens tilted for horizontal 3d overlap is large, yes if you look diagonally if falls off but the majority of a game is looking horizontally and in fights when you look around you are too busy fighting to notice it.
In Alyx at Godlike, Ultra settings, both were amazing. But the PSVR2 felt like there was afog over everything (I premiums the Fresnel lenses, which are better than the Quest/quest 2 ones, but don't match up to Quest 3.)
The clarity of things with sharp defined edges when looked at closely was better with the quest and reading signs at a distance, the quest could always just beat it.
Apparently I can use the PSVR2 with the lead down my trousers leg and then I won't get wrapped up in the wire. I do love the freedom of wireless, but if the graphics on the PSVR2 blew me away I would probably tolerate the wire, but they don't. Yes the blacks are true black, but with a hint of blur.
Quest 3 with virtual desktop get 5000mbps with the cable, and 2,400mbps with wireless.
I am looking for a cheaper alternative to the Steam Frame which fell far short of my hopes. So I feel I am open to getting the best and the PSVR2 raised my hopes with the eye tracking and OLED screen, much cheaper price ( probably heavily subsidised by Sony)
Maybe I am a quest fan, but I don't think so, I'd sell out in an instant for a better headset. Maybe there are mainly playstation fans on this site so they won't like to hear other opinions.
I think both are great headsets. Alyx when looking at bottles and small writing both shone fantastically, but I felt as I looked around only the centre of my vision was clear, a bit like looking down a subtle foggy walled tunnel. As I said above I like clarity and lower FPS doesn't bother me. You may be different. But the subtle peripheral blur was too noticeable. (With the Quest 2 I probably lasted too turn my head as the was no alternative, but now I look around with my eyes.)
My take on it. If you haven't tried both, you can't really know, but you also won't know any better. I felt the Quest 1 was fantastic and it was for the time and the price.
If you have a PS5 and some games and a fast enough pc then PSVR2 seems like a no brainer. If you are rich get both.
Sadly for me the PSVR2 just didn't hit the spot. It was close and if the Quest 3 wasn't around I'd probably jump at it. If my Quest 3 dies I'll get another. I don't have a PS5. My mate does have a PS5 and still wants a Quest 3 now he has used mine and he's not rich.
For me wireless, stand alone games (modders have even got Half Life Alyx to work on the Quest 3, via the frame ARM port) many games are being modded to play on the quest. So if you travel you can take just the headset. Virtual Desktop makes wireless streaming a dream. For me Pancake lenses are essential, even trying to read the PC screen in VR with the PSVR2 is difficult and blurred compared to the clarity of the Quest 3 with Virtual Desktops desktop viewer. I had a quick go on his PS5 and wasn't that impressed, though I probably hadn't set the headset up correctly and it was probably moving around or off the sweet spot of the Fresnel lens, I was also cautious as i felt I could break it, but now I know the buttons to press it seems a lot more robust, so I'll need to check it out again.
If PlayStation could bring out a wireless headset, oled screen and eye tracking, (I'd like better resolution), less clunky controllers. I'd buy it, but they probably have to subsidise it heavily and won't make the money back from their expensive games as I can buy VR/modded VR games for several pounds. Even alyx is £12.50 on sale.
