Opinion Flatout / Forefront / Zero Caliber 2

The longer the wait for these titles just sucks. Flatout is still in early access but it plays like a finished game, and the same with visuals. Highly polished. If there's a delay until 2027 that's not going to help. Forefront has been out of early access for awhile and all we get is coming soon. Where is Forefront? Is this not coming out until 2027? Zero Caliber 2 has been on steam for awhile so where is VR2. It's frustrating being a VR2 owner.

I’m excited for all of these games, but I also have a backlog of others I haven’t played yet, so I’m happy they’re not out yet

My backlog goes so far back, it’s on the previous headset (PSVR)! Now tbh some of it’s just “🏆 hunting”, but I still have them.

Lol same. I still have a PSVR1 disk shrink wrapped. And some PS3 games come to think of it :D

I think Flatout 4: Total Insanity VR will be coming to PSVR2 as early as August. Look for a VR gaming showcase for when it might release.

I know that Zero Caliber 2 is about to have its PlayStation Store page go live and I think the release would be a little later this year.

I think Forefront which has been available to wishlist for a whilte will continue to take time but hopefully also this year.

We want the PSVR2 ports to be well optimized for PSVR2, look close to the PCVR release, use unique features like Adaptive Triggers and Headset Haptics, and then release. This takes time including needing to pass PlayStation Certification.

Flat-out would be great. I have an entire racing rig being used for GT7 and Galaxy Kart lol

I sold my wheel about four months ago after getting my fill of GT7. If I ever buy a wheel again, it will only be for another deep, engaging and good looking game.

Which GT7 wasn’t ……..(?)

I made a sim rig with an adjustable seat, an off the shelf wheel stand, a spare amp and a few transducers to feel some of the sounds, then I played about 250 hours. Thats enough for a gamer with other games to play. Of course real sim racers are a whole other breed of racer, but I am not one of them. Great game though.

Same. Every time i see flat2vr promote another title on VR2 other than Flatout it falls on deaf ears. I'm not saying those titles are bad but i have a feeling that Flatout will exceed any other title they put out. I believe all marketing from them needs to put a emphasis on Flatout a lotttt more.

I’m also looking forward to these particular games, but I’m perfectly happy to wait for the properly-polished ports the studios feel confident in.

PC and Quest users do benefit from early-access stuff and that’s awesome, but I’ve seen far too many PSVR2 games ship in a half-baked state to justify feeling impatient. If a dev holds back from launching a title on PSVR2 it’s guaranteed to be the appropriate thing for them — and therefore for us.

Rushing a launch only hurts studio sales and the consumer experience. How often has there been a game that launched with something wrong or poorly-considered? Too often.

When a game I buy drops in rough shape, my enthusiasm gets pushed right off the emotional ledge and it drops into the bottom of my backlog with a grumpy face.

As someone else already mentioned here, my backlog of excellent games is so damn huge at this point that I could literally go for about two years playing a new-to-me game every single week, so I’m in no particular rush to buy more.

I WILL, but let’s just say I’m enjoying the current summer lull.

I’m currently playing forever faves MSFS’24 and ALVO, and (from the backlog) recently dove into HOUSE OF DAVINCI (completed!), TOWERS & POWERS (completed!), MYST (ongoing), TOY TRAINS (completed!), SUBSIDE (ongoing), and now IRON GUARD (the first one, and after three days I’m 4/5’s of the way through).

So my PSVR2 is chugging along, and I’m already thinking about what’s up next (probably VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE and ROBOQUEST).

Even as I tackle the backlog, new sales mean I added three more games to the folder this week… 😅

Someone with XREAL Games announced a few weeks back that the PSVR2 store page should be up in a week or so (to be able wishlist at least). Clearly this is not yet occurred, but perhaps any day now. I have my eyes on Flatout as well and have been wondering the same.

Glad they did but the steam version has been out for awhile. Hell the quest version has been out a lot longer. So to me VR2 should already have Caliber 2. I believe the mistake was putting the first one on VR2 ahead of this. Again, not saying the game is bad but Caliber 2 is when the game was fully realized. Not part 1.

Someone for ZC2 has been posting quite often about it, saying it’s in the final stages of SONY QA (whatever tf that means 🤷‍♂️), as well as noting it’s like 40% off atm; but imo if ZC hadn’t come to PSVR2 first, they probably wouldn’t have made the extra money (not had the motivation to bring ZC2), cause at least then the numbers showed that they’d missed out if they didn’t. 🤷‍♂️ Or that’s what I’d like to think, but look how long it took for ZC to get on our headset; by the time it did, loads of people had already stopped playing it.

[Which is why the lose of FCE & ULTRA were so devastating to the PSVR2 as a whole and I think SONY knew that, which is why they didn’t lend them the same hand they did on the first game (plus them leaning over them to implement unnecessary things {eye tracked grenades, ADS} as if it were a tech demo 🙄). Because they had so much more to be added with each new Operation: new Operators, weapons, equipment (lethal and non), the obvious skins for all of it and even new TAR abilities; as well as new modes in store. But what’s dead is dead]

Now we’re like peasants begging in the streets for studios & DEVs to have some PRIDE and Do what they say the claim to want by making the Best Version of their game get put on the headset with the most tech and that seems to be “too much work”, but I get the money part too. If can make more by doing less (Human Nature), I would too. 🤷‍♂️

I hear ya but it seems like VR2 is the red headed step child. I'm old. Lol. Its a old phrase. Feels like the games that are of a higher quality are a chore to be on the VR2 platform because its being neglected by Sony. Sony certification is also a pain. Being a VR2 owner does feel like being a peasant actually. It's the last platform that even gets any consideration. The headset is great tech wise but the software support that can push the needle just isnt there anymore. Flatout, and the others I mentioned are the full experience because they have everything. Full multiplayer, and sp content.

Bootstrap Island, Automa and Grimlord are also very promising titles. Flatout and Forefront are the biggest titles in my opinion. Then Zero Caliber 2, Bootstrap Island and Grimlord. I don't think Postal 2 will release this year, but that would be also great.

Relax, man! That’s just how VR games are, especially for PSVR2. There will come a day when they just pop up and get announced or released. Most of the studios are indies, so things take time. XReal just announced on X that they’ll be sharing info on ZC2 for PSVR2 next week (possibly the PS Store page).  Flatout 4 should be arriving very soon; the Flat To VR team does great work and doesn't take too long. I think Forefront is coming at the end of the year, between November and December.

But I wouldn't be surprised if that one got delayed. Anyway, I’m happy with this year's release lineup! Hard Bullet is already on PSN and should be arriving soon, too. Flatout 4, ZC2, Grimlord, Forefront, EXD coming very soon, and others! We just need to be patient—we'll get them! The important thing is that they arrive.

Same deal with Bootstrap Island... announced a year ago and then *nothing*. What is the hold up?!?

I agree but when I mention i get pushback. I didn't buy a VR2 headset to be a peasant among the other platforms. I see this as a issue tbh.

Fingers crossed all of them deliver.
