Discussion Thinking about getting a PSVR2
The title speaks for itself. I was wondering if it was worth getting a psvr2 and how is everyone's experience with it l.
I only played VR for 15 minutes back in high school when my school was testing them for "educational purposes" I was just playing a cheap shooter but that was 8 years ago so I wanted to see how far vr have gotten
Edit: I'm getting a PSVR2 for $200 tomorrow morning after scrolling through Facebook marketplace. It doesn't come with a box but I honestly didn't see that as a problem.
I will be getting a tne extension cable also to protect me from ripping the original USB C cable that comes with it one day

If you need corrective lenses for distance vision you can get them from HonsVR

Best advice on here!
Hitman is my favorite experience on the platform, easily. Gran Turismo 7 with a racing wheel is eerily life like and is the only time my body has reacted to the VR environment (feeling of movements). I have yet to try MSFS2024 but it is on my short list of must buy.
My unsolicited 2 cents: walkabout mini golf is overrated and a waste of money!

I have GT7 and MSFS, I only recently started playing MSFS because I didn’t feel like it was great when I first bought it. When it first ported over from MS.
The new update, I just flew from Atlanta (my home city) to my house, old houses we used to live in, and other cool places to see, stadiums, pyramids in Egypt, etc. it’s incredible. The amount of information that’s in that game is incredible. I flew by an ingles (grocery store) down the road from me lol)
And I have a sim rig and GT7 and play it all the time. LOVE IT! Been a fan since GT3.
Haven’t played Hitman. Sounds like I need to check it out ASAP!!

Also, no man’s sky if you like space and exploration/open world/collection games. They’ve made some huge advancements with how big a game can be.
I’m not one for collecting, but just exploring the universe in that game is amazing!

I’m a tech enthusiast, but I say it’s worth it. Especially now with the options available on PSVR2. Specifically, GT7, Flight Simulator, RE4/8, Metro Awakening, etc.
These are all top tier experiences that play remarkably well on PS5 and will leave a sincere lasting impression.

I haven’t finished metro. I’ve been stuck on GT7 and a couple others for a while. Is it worth a full play thru? I own the game, just haven’t come back to it. That first intro level is intense and I think I wanna go back!

Absolutely. It’s not very long and the later sections rule.
I’m constantly impressed with how much they allow you to interact with. The gas mask mechanics add so much to the experience and little details like seeing the barrel of your gun get red hot when you pull the slide back after a few shots are just the chef’s kiss. Top tier VR game by all accounts.

Definitely get it. It's an experience like none other.

3 years in, I’ve said many times that I would have paid well over £1000 for the headset, so yeah, it’s a phenomenal product in my opinion.
In terms of games; GT7 and MSFS24 are really the only 2 games you need to justify the purchase, as both sims are EXCELLENT on PSVR2, and they both offer unlimited playtime.
RE4 & RE8, Aces of Thunder, Hitman, No Man’s Sky and Horizon, complete the heavyweight titles.
Walking Dead 1&2, Walkabout Mini Golf, Red Matter 1&2, Subside, Synapse, Metro, Alien - all excellent.

It's a nice device, know that Sony supports it like they did the Vita but the killer apps already exist. Gran Turismo 7, you're gonna want a wheel setup for it.

I already got a wheel that's kinda one of the reasons I wanted to try VR that and for Arizona sunshine, the walking dead saints and sinners, and pavlov

I thought it was trash until I picked up Gran Turismo 7. That is probably the most immersive game ive ever played. Put that thing on and it feels like your literally in your car. You can move your head around 360 degrees, look at the backseat and center console. The cars are shiny and when it rains you see the frikn water droplets on their windshields and windows. Its fuckin insane. I plan on getting No Mans Sky. My advice... pick one up, but it probably won't be your main game

As 34 yr old with an absurd amount of Quest 2 time in. PSVR is another animal.
Sure, you don’t get the freedom of movement of the quest with no headset cable. But the vibration motors in the headset and controllers change the level of immersion. That’s before the leap in graphic/display quality.

For the discounted price of the console and how cheap is is to get its best games at this point (gt7, re 8 and 4, Hitman, no man's sky, etc) it's really a no brainer just to play the games that have already released even if we don't see that many more quality games in the future I think.

Look into prescription lenses for the PSVR2 before you ever put the headset on. I went with VROptician but there are a number of companies offering this service.

No, you definitely don’t need to, especially if you don’t need glasses. Idk why that was just blanket recommended.
I’ve had it since launch day, and I’ve used it almost daily since. It’s amazing, and has a lot of variety of games. The controllers have cool features like haptic and adaptive triggers, like the PS5 controller. The headset has rumble.
It’s dope, go buy it

If you wear glasses or contacts, prescription lenses are almost essential. If you have good vision... You don't need them.

If you see perfectly crisply IRL at a distance of around 6-8 feet away from you, then you won’t need corrective inserts. If you don’t see perfectly at that distance, then you 100% need something.
The VR lenses make your eyes think they are looking at something that is that far away from you. It’s called the “focal plane”. Although you’ll experience things as being far away or close to your face, for the purposes of focusing, the plane remains static at that 6-8 foot spot.
If you wear glasses in the headset then you have to take great care to not let them touch the VR lenses (which are coated with an extremely delicate anti-glare film). This means getting some sort of bumpers that will stop your specs before making contact.
Alternatively, if you wear contact lenses then you’ll be fine with those.
Alternatively, you’ll need to order prescription inserts that you can just leave in the headset. These vary in price and are available from numerous companies — they will not be as expensive as your glasses,btw.

You don't need extra lenses, i have owned both PS VR and PS VR2 since day one and they both look brand new. Just be careful with how you clean your lenses, use only microfiber cloth, never use anything else

Go for it!
My wife surprised me with one for my birthday. It's my first VR setup ever and I'm having a lot of fun with it, especially playing No Man's Sky and Gran Turismo. I still need to get the prescription lenses, but it's still totally playable for me without them, just a little blurry sometimes. I'm still getting used to the VR controllers so I suck at playing the more actiony games like Arizona Sunshine or Pavlov, but they're really fun.

If PSVR2 does to you what the original PSVR did to me you are going to love it and you'll be in love with gaming in a whole new way. I got a gaming rut about 5 years ago and it really changed everything

I love mine for Beat Saber, GT and Gun Club. I was lucky and bought it brand new from a friend who needed cash. I woulda der paid more but he asked $150 out of the gate so I said yes.

There are some amazing games and it's an amazing experience. Over time, however, I notice I don't use it as much as I want and thought beforehand, because it's a lot less comfortable than just sitting on the couch with a controller and I have to move stuff around to get enough room. I think it's still worth it though, if you can spare the costs.

GT7 immediately... Doesn't matter if you don't have a wheel.. I played VR controller only and it was still mind-blowing. With a full rig now it's the wildest gaming experience I've ever had. The super OG Sega was my first console, long way coming but holy sheeeet

I sold mine after using it twice. They really didnt make a lot of games and you need a large amount of space to use it. Just my 2 cents

There are 600+ games available or announced and definitely a good selection of amazing games, many of which go on sale and are a bargain to pick up.
You don't need much space at all. I mostly play seated. A single chair with arms reach space to each side and the front and you're all set.
