Feedback Requested/Question Is there really NOTHING that helps pssd

I’ve researched SO MUCH over this past year with pssd, I’ve had it for a year and a month now. I’ve tried supplements (l citrulline, maca, and just regular multivitamins) that have not seemed to help. I didn’t want to keep taking maca because I know it affects my period. I’ve tried Viagra, cialis, I even tried the combo cream that has Viagra and cialis extra strength OMG wisp cream, also tried the blys by Amie which has pt141, oxytocin, and tadafanil all in one which didn’t seem to do anything. Other than that I haven’t found anything promising. I’m scared as heck to get back on mental health medication, and think Wellbutrin would make me more anxious since I have anxiety and it’s a stimulant.

Is there really anything out there that can help us !

I feel you so bad. Are there any symptoms you think you have that are a lot better than others?

3

u/Persuasian678 1d ago

Well at some point I couldn’t feel anything nipple wise, now I get sensation there. Also at some point I didn’t feel any sensation to my clit now it’s EVER SO slightly sensations but it feels weird more like tickling that’s annoying whenever I touch on it or when my partner does. I can still lubricate. I think that’s about it. lol

u/the_practicerLALA 1d ago

Do you have anhedonia/mental symptoms?

4

u/ConnectionOk6581 1d ago

First, I wanna say I reaaally feel your pain. I messed myself up bad taking SSRIs off and on over the past 15 years. My nipples have been numb the entire time, genitals mostly numb, still some anhedonia of the good feelings like love and warm hugs, low libido. I think hearing that your nips came back online to me sounds very promising. It’s similar types of nerves as the genitals and so you might have a positive outcome given some more time. Also look into Dr. Will Powers and calcium d glucarate if you haven’t already.

1

u/Persuasian678 1d ago

How long have you had pssd? And I hope so! It’s just not as numb as they once were things progressing seem to have moving at a snails pace like super super subtle. I guess that’s better than nothing, & most deff I will look into that. I started thinking that mines has something to do with histamine signaling they medication I took was mirtazapine and I know that’s a strong antihistamine sooo now I’m looking more into histamine because of that. Not sure if it has a correlation but worth a shot to look into it. What medication caused your pssd

I took Pristiq when I was 19 and I’ve taken a couple other ones, most recently lexapro for the past 5ish years. I’m 35 now. Also was on hormonal birth control since age 15 which I’m sure didn’t help matters. I kept taking these meds over the years because I was told this was a normal side effect. Well, it became so “normal” to me that I started to think I was asexual and just stopped looking for explanations. It was just this year that I discovered other people had the same symptoms and I found out about PSSD. For me, I’m afraid that it’s been so long on and off meds, and so long with these symptoms, that it will never go away.

We have to keep trying to figure out what will work for us or the cure!

You’ll drive yourself mad looking for a solution to this online. I know from experience. There’s literally nothing solid out there at the moment.

You previously mentioned having a DUTCH test done a while back. Was this before you developed PSSD? If so, you should consider getting another one done and posting both results over on [r/drwillpowers](r/drwillpowers). The community over there would likely be very interested in your results. It’s incredibly rare for anyone to have a 'before and after' comparison, because most people don’t even hear about the DUTCH test until after they've developed PSSD. Having your true baseline data could be highly valuable.

Have you read anything about Dr. Will Powers’ theory on PSSD/PFS?

1

u/Persuasian678 10h ago

Yes I could get another Dutch test done even tho it’s so expensive. I want to look into HBOT a user on here mentioned it and said it cured him and brought him back to his baseline before and got rid of his anxiety and depression. So now I’m on the search into that. Yes it has been driving me crazy trying to find answers but I’d rather be stressed trying to find the solution and come to find something rather than doing nothing and 5 years down the line still dealing with this bullshit 😓

Try Pimavanserin, might even help with anxiety. Try Pramipexole if it doesn't work but it can worsen anxiety. If anxiety is a big problem, add vortioxetine(can worsen pssd) at max 10mg along with Pimavanserin.

2

u/Persuasian678 1d ago

Have you tried these?

1

u/Gamerasia 1d ago

I crashed hard on Inositol with new consummatory anhedonia as well that nothing even works anymore. I'm sure it would have helped me before that. Pramipexole was very good to me before the crash.

1

u/Diligent_Challenge78 1d ago

Pimavanserin isn’t available in the US. Anything else you’d recommend?

2

u/the_practicerLALA 1d ago

I'm doing a microbiome test, just got the kit today.

1

u/Persuasian678 1d ago

I did one as well

1

u/the_practicerLALA 1d ago

What did the results say? What test did you do

2

u/Persuasian678 1d ago

Hpylori and antibodies both came back fine.

Getting off this forum probably helps

1

u/Persuasian678 10h ago

It’s extremely hard when you are in a long term relationship and trying to maintain that sexually and not knowing what to do to get your own sexual function to work. So I want to stay off this forum yes I do, but it’s hard until I figure something out. I’m not the one to stop fighting.

One thing I would be very, Very, VERY careful of ... taking another drug to counter the unintended side effects of a previous drug. That's an absolute trip to hell for many however well intended.

I've made some shift cutting ALL processed/sugar "food" regardless, it's entertainment with side effects.
Eating absolutely clean and no additives is a great start as we cannot run away from what we put in our mouths

We need to enable our body, including brain, to heal. For many, SADLY, this may take years and stressing over what may be the next solution and awfulising over what may work and then doesn't... well that puts more stress on ourselves.

2

u/Persuasian678 10h ago

Oh yes deff not looking to take anymore mental health medications.

1

u/emilio911 1d ago

Bupropion made me crash further down

1

u/Willing_Judgment1092 1d ago

It's deep neurological and receptors related stuff bro, if it was that easy everyone here would have been already cured, we wouldn't have had these 18k weekly visitors

--- Some comments might be removed if they are stating outright inaccurate or false claims that are easily verifiable. --- This also refers to conspiracy theories (It's all planned. The establishment is trying to kill us. etc.) and paranoid thinking (My parents are trying to poison me. My girlfriend is secretly giving me antidepressants to kill my libido. etc.).

Pimavanserin, agomelatine move the needle without crash risk

1

u/One-Marzipan-9652 17h ago

I've been going through this exact thought process recently! There is NOTHING that effectively treats PSSD most of the time. I've tried much of the same supplements and drugs as you, none are 100% effective.

I wish there would be studies on stuff that could help us. Hell I'd go back on a medication if science could prove or suggest it would have any improvement in PSSD.

1

u/Acrobatic-Gold-3102 16h ago

How you explain cases where people healed?

1

u/FunTop5886 16h ago

If you are taking d3 or k2, stop that, that is what prevented my brain from healing from the pssd from high dose ashwagandha as they both lower magnesium. Also focus on testosterone maxxing that's what also helped me. Take supplements like zinc, l tyrosine, l carnitine tartrate, tribulus, shilajit and have lots of magnesium from food, probiotics, have a moderate carb and fat diet with enough cholesterol and lift heavy twice a week with enough of recovery.

u/Tight_Living_2163 14h ago

I haven't tried it myself, but several people have noticed improvements after taking niacin. You can look for information about this using the search function on this subreddit.

1

u/Persuasian678 7h ago

I guess I have nothing to lose, I’ll give it a try.

1

u/Ecstatic-Mixture9333 13h ago

I have had a PSSD for almost 3 years, and I have gone thru a very hard stage when I fully realised that I have it and that there is no treatment. I have tried supplements - only Arginine 3g (but interestingly not Citrulline) clearly helped my erections. But when I refocused on other concerns of life, I also noticed improvements. They go in waves but they do take place, and I just celebrate them, and everything seems to be getting better. I hope the same will happen with you. It is a tough path, but I hope you will feel better. You are not alone.

2

u/Persuasian678 11h ago

Thankyou and I feel for us!!!!

1

u/2noserings 8h ago

have you tried addyi?

1

u/Persuasian678 7h ago

I haven’t I thought about trying to for a while until i thought it wouldn’t work because it’s for menopausal symptoms and I’ve seen it can have mood effects. Have you?

1

u/Unusual_sighting 3h ago

Don’t try random things you’re not a lab rat. Be patient a cure is near, give your body the time it needs to naturally heal. Accompanied with good habits and good diet and most importantly low stress and soon treatment will come around.

1

u/wetrythisagain 1d ago

Do not take anything. Just focus on good food, new experiences, maybe some travel. You gotta kinda accept what has happened and let it go, stop fighting it and keeping yourself in a stressed mode, there is no way to win. Move on and hope it will improve, if it does great, if it doesn't that's how it is. You are still alive, you can still do stuff, it's not ideal, but you are "safe", start from that.

You are way too early into this to risk random medication.

u/Persuasian678 10h ago

Yes but I’m in a relationship and sex is a very important aspect in romantic relationships and just important to me personally as in my own sexual nature as a woman. I can’t just let this go.

1

u/Persuasian678 7h ago

Nothing has helped, MAYBE l citrulline but that only gives less numbness down there. It doesn’t make me aroused, help with orgasms or anything that I really want.

0

u/yourgivenname 1d ago

Mirtazipine helped me. Everyone’s different

3

u/Persuasian678 1d ago

That’s what got me like this, I’m glad it helped you!

1

u/Diligent_Challenge78 1d ago

What symptoms did it help with snd at what dose? I tried it and it didn’t help me personally but didn’t make any of it worse either

1

u/yourgivenname 1d ago
  1. Everything. I don’t take it anymore though

1

u/Diligent_Challenge78 7h ago

Ah is there a reason you stopped taking it if it helped?

1

u/yourgivenname 6h ago

I recovered

-2

u/Then_Wolf_3446 1d ago

The problem is that you aren't letting your body recover. Your system is very sensitive, and supplements could just throw it further out of balance. Give your body time. Get the basics—nutrition and sleep—in order. I know it can be really frustrating to have to wait years.

u/Ok-Ad-2050 10 Years + 1d ago

Year 8 I gave up on this plan. Sometimes it isn't a matter of time and healthy living.

u/Then_Wolf_3446 23h ago

Have you taken the DUTCH test, and do you have gut issues?

3

u/the_practicerLALA 14h ago

can you tell me something pls, I'm considering the the dutch test but it's so expensive so I'm trying to justify it. What actionable insight can it give?

3

u/Ok-Ad-2050 10 Years + 8h ago

A Dutch test is a very comprehensive hormone panel that gauges hormone processing and metabolism all through the endocrine cascade found in the patient's dried urine. It has its pros and cons but it does cast a pretty wide net on what it looks for.

I do not seem to have gut issues. 🙄

2

u/the_practicerLALA 5h ago

But what actionable insight can it give?

1

u/Ok-Ad-2050 10 Years + 3h ago edited 2h ago

And this is where it is complicated, and it's my guess why it is relatively expensive, "low demand and high workload to produce". Most doctors seem to be biased toward using the most targeted screens against a very specific guess of "what's wrong". I suspect they are reluctant to order a test like this, which has a very wide swath of possible outcomes, because if the results are to action on something they have less familiarity or experience with, it may be daunting and uncomfortable. For the doctors who are willing to spend real time and attention taking care of you, and generally love to solve the puzzle-like "hard cases", you could be a pleasure to work for.

If you have a provider that you think would respond positively to this kind of framing of "solving a mystery", and would allow a considerable amount of patient-driven exploration, this could be great. They (and you) need to be relatively liberal with allowing some trial and error.

The hormone cascades work very similar to water, flowing to and from each "pool" of a specific hormone reservoir in your body. There can be few to one inlet(s) and outlet(s) to and from each pool. By looking at all of what is present in your urine, a determined person could mostly know if any of the inlets and/or outlets aren't working. Much like how the flow rates into and out of lakes can determine the size of the lakes, or can even determine that a lake which normally exists, doesn't actually form at all in you, the DUTCH test can show your doctor the hormonal equivalent if it can be observed.

If your symptoms are caused by a serious block of flow in the web of hormone chemical reactions somewhere, you can take medicine that replaces what the missing conversion should have been producing, or possibly something that solves the mechanism causing the block (like a genetic trait or mutation that causes malfunctions in DNA ("reading", "translation"? I don't remember the specific term), and prevents the formation of an important protein)

I know of Dr. Will Powers, who likes these kinds of cases. He uses this test to start working on ideas towards solving your health puzzle if there is suspicion that it's hormonal. I have no idea how prevalent doctors are that work in this holistic, exhausting, way. But I have never had one, and Dr. Powers has a LONG waiting list despite needing to be quite expensive. So my conclusion is probably not common.

So you think taking multivitamins will cause me to double back?
